I'm playing the game on my friend's PS2 and I've encountered a problem when I get into battles. The screen will break as it should, but then won't go to the battle screen. The battle music will play, but the screen remains black and pressing buttons won't do anything. Sometimes, if I wait long enough, the encounter will load, but sometimes it won't. This seems to occur for set battles too (like bosses), which means this is a real problem.

I'm using the new PS2, the really small one Sony came out with a little while ago; I don't know if this has anything to do with it though. Has anyone encountered this problem before? Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks.

The slimmer PS2 is known to have crashing/loading issues (as is the normal PS2), and i can't imagine that it would be any better for PS1 games.

Find yourself an old PS1 and the game should work fine. There's nothing you can do about that PS2.

Can the slim ps2 be laid flat on its back and stand up like the standard ps2? If so, try moving it and seeing if that works. If it does, it's a lens problem. Other than that, a compatibility problem. If the slim ps2 has 2x leading speed as an option as the old ps2, try that.

new slim PS2 plays PS1 games way worse than old PS2,I've heard that from several ppl already,including one friend of mine.

well..use old PS2 or PS1.

when i play on the ps2 it seems to freeze on disk 2 when you have your first fight with Deus


one thing that i've tried, is turning down the ps2 video out to : rgb and turning digital out off.
