Macs and Games

I hear that Macs are good at just about everything except games. Which is why I never thought of buying a Mac. Is this 100% true?

I don't know, really. From what I remember, a lot of games simply don't work on Macs, although they are making an attempt to try and catch up with Windows, and could succeed sometime soon.

OK with any Universal game put out today the Mac will win same with any game made for mac in the last 3 years the new Intel Mac can run the Vista or XP crap for games but first go to the Mac store they have allot of games they will have as many as win in 1 year. + the OS is sooo far past Vista (a bad copy of Tiger)

The thread had been dead for years before the bump, likely due to the booming attraction to the Mac forum. =/ quoteOK with any Universal game put out today the Mac will win Will win what? If it can handle anything a PC can, which I don't think it can, than it will work the same on a PC as it does on a Mac in the end.

Bootcamp gives it all the possibilities of everything a PC can do. Making a Mac ultimately better because you can run two OS's on it at once.

It's true that there are a lot of games that won't run on Mac OS, but if you desperately needed to run them you can get software to run Win-Blows on your Mac. I've always figured that my Mac does just fine running the software I need to be productive. It also runs enough games to prevent me from being productive.

I know this thread is old, but lets be realistic, a two year old budget gaming card is not going to preform as well as the professional/high performance Quadro/Radeon HD card with 1-4GB of video memory found in comparable notebooks in the premium price range. For the price of a Mac Pro, you could get quad gtx 480s in Sli, that's over 6 GB of video ram compared to the pos chip that comes with the Pro. You can argue for the software of a mac, but it can never make up for it's hardware limitations. High performance applications will always run faster on faster hardware, whatever operation system the unit is running has little to no effect.

Yeah but then you'd have a computer that won't work after 3 years.
