It's supposed to take time to gather up lightning, and it theoretically is hard to control or aim over long distances, especially with so many conductive people around to reach the ground faster. I also imagine that Mako wasn't thinking too clearly at the time, as Boo said.

And I liked probending. I thought the matches were entertaining to watch and provided some nice action sequences when they weren't fighting equalists. It was also interesting to watch Bending as it matured in an industrial world, and the boxing techniques were a nice touch.

So on a whole I think it was a fantastic season. I thought Korra was a great character, showing independence and strength while also being a fun character to watch. They also gave her a softer side, which is nice to see as well. My favorite characters would have to be Lin and Bolin. Least favorite was Mako. I was really surprised Asami didn't go evil, and though I originally thought Amon was a bender related to Yakon, I frankly thought he was Tarrlok for the first half of the series, the reveal of Tarrlok as a blood bender made me second guess that. Amon turned into a great villain, he was both terrifying and awesome, and learning his real past made him pitiable, but not to the point of ruining his character or his end. Can't wait for the next season.
