The Venture Bros. (alternatively The Venture Brothers) is an American animated television series airing as part of Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. It chronicles the adventures of two dopey yet well-meaning teenage boys, Hank and Dean Venture; their emotionally insecure, ethically challenged super-scientist father Dr. Thaddeus "Rusty" Venture; the family bodyguard, secret agent Brock Samson; and the family's arch-nemesis, The Monarch.[1]
In April 2008, Jackson Publick said he and Doc Hammer had been working on season four.[2] In March 2009, Adult Swim began airing bumps revealing that new episodes should begin airing in November 2009.
This is my favorite animated series, possibly only challenged by Metalocalypse. Dr Girlfriend is probably my favorite female villain since Harley Quinn and that's saying a lot.....
So - new season is slated for November. I watched a Q&A season with Doc and Jackson where they talked about Kevin Conroy doing a voice for this season - can't wait to see it!

The girl villain with the guy's voice is Dr Girlfriend. She also goes by Dr Mrs The Monarch, Queen Etherea, Lady Au Pair, and her birth name: Sheila. XD She is my favorite VB character, although Molotov Cocktease is pretty damn close.
The first episode you referenced I think it was Sargent Hatred's party you are talking about - that was a good one.
You really need to see more, once you are hooked, this show never lets go - it's so clever.
Yup yup - it's called "Are you there God? It's me, Dean." It's actually Dean who balls get tied - the brunette. XD
Wait, I thought that happened to Dean in the show, and at the end, it then happened to Hank.
I don't think so. Pretty sure it was all Dean. =/
Edit: Hmm - looking at the PSA that plays at the end of the episode on youtube both boys are wearing bandage undies, so maybe it did happen to Hank too and I forgot. XD
Yeah - his oils are really quite nice. I had no idea he had such a talent before I started checking out his dA and stuff. Granted he hasn't updated that in a long time.
Did you see one of them hanging in Dr Ventures bedroom in one episode?
True. Yeah the first 2 seasons are out on DVD. They haven't released the 3rd season yet, but I'm so psyched. The voice of Batman, Kevin Conroy himself is going to be in a few ep's I hear, that pertain to Brock. [/div]
Oh and yes Season 3 is out on DVD - Season four is slated to start Nov of this year! And the thing about Kevin Conroy is true too - I put that in my first post!
Edit: No screenshot at this point but:

One portrait, of Liz Vassey who played Captain Liberty from the live-action incarnation of The Tick, can be seen in the background of the Venture Bros. episode: "Return to Spider-Skull Island".
Part of the brilliance of the show is the things that they 'borrow' from others, because you get this shock of 'OH I recognize that!' and then you watch them pervert it.
I'm not exactly sure how that works. If you are doing a parody of something, usually it is fair game to use without getting sued, but I suppose if they are owned by the same parent company it certainly greases the wheels.
I was kinda waiting for someone to come back and say they watched it. XD
It's defo an episode that requires a second watching to catch everything that you might have missed the first time since they basically show scenes backwards.
Big props for the Indiana Jones reference at the (end) beginning. XD "You're getting face goo all over me!"
Yeah, I suppose if Helper had been hard wired into a bunch of his organs, including his heart, he probably didn't move much for a while there. Lulz for the "No Helper, do NOT engage your helicopter blades!"
Jackson had posted on his LJ that DVRing the episode and watching it a second time might be a good idea since it was confusing and also said to pay attention to Hank's hair to help you figure out where in the timeline you are.
Since the West Coast had an issue where they showed the first 15 minutes of the show, went to commercial, then proceeded to show the first fifteen minutes again after the break, they are re-airing the episode in it's entirety tonight, tomorrow night, and Thursday night at 12:30 for those that would like a second viewing but didn't DVR it. (Or if you were one of those who saw the first fifteen minutes twice and not the end)
The bump last night that was talking about the rating numbers for all the showings of the premiere were pretty freaking impressive.
As for last night - LOL @ half sunburned Dr. Mrs. The Monarch. XD
There was so much to laugh loudly about - I almost peed my pants when Captain Sunshine kissed Hank. XD Or the butler gave him the tube of lube. Bawahahahaha!!!
I am pretty sure that is on purpose. XD They do lots of taking things you recognize and twisting them for their own evil intent. XD I am pretty sure someone actually said that he dresses like Fred from Scooby Doo in an episode too. XD
Well, I believe whomever owns Cartoon Network owns both Scooby and Johnny Quest or something like that and they are actually able to use names and characters from some of those old shows. I forget the exact legal logistics, but those likenesses intentional. XD
It's on the second page actually, I just checked. Just click on episodes, pick The Venture Bros under comedy, click on Videos, and then click over a page and it should be the first video on the 2nd page.
Totally was cracking up about Dean's adventures in Prog Rock. Holy crap, super funny!! But I really want Brock back. Hatred is kinda Meh for me.
I thought he had given up on it, realizing he was just as responsible as anyone else there, but he did check off the list... umm actually, it kind of seemed like someone checked off the list before he came in and then the skull was moved.... does that mean there is a ghost around?
Maybe, maybe not. There is an 'alternate universe' sketch video with 24 still being alive. Not sure if that was the original intention and after it leaked they pulled the idea, but I think they are enjoying playing this 21/24 thing to the hilt.
I think if they decided to keep him on he would just fly out for a few days and do as many lines as he could for them. There are plenty of voice actors that fly around to do work. Patrick Warburton does so many voices for so many different shows (as well as doing live action work) that he is both in NY and LA often from what I can see of his resume.
Not much to say. Too busy. Doc and I are about to finish our collaborative script for the finale of season 4.2 and I'm literally on my way out the door to the final sound mix for the last episode of season 4.1.
As such I will soon be blessedly free from writing and post-production duties for a while. Looking forward to just being a director for the next several months--still a difficult, full-time job, but at least it's not three difficult, full-time jobs on top of each other.
I did want to say that tonight's episode is really really good, though. Probably my favorite of Doc's scripts in these first eight episodes. Much to enjoy in it, on the biggest and smallest of scales. And if you're not finally converted to Sgt. Hatred by this one, then you're never ever going to like the poor lug.
Also, the Williams Street online store has a ton of new Venture Bros. merch for sale. Get 'em now, before our request for freebies exhausts their limited supply!
We Love You,
JP
P.S. Two small items my perusal of various message boards these past few weeks compels me to comment upon:
1. Captain Sunshine = NOT an actual pedophile.
2. Brock's absence has nothing to do with Patrick Warburton. He didn't ask for more money, he's not too busy for us, he hasn't refused to come back or anything of the sort. It was a creative choice on our part, and Brock WILL be back in the show at some point. Just not this week. Or next.
So I didn't get to watch this on Sunday night because I was too tired and one of my coworkers walked into my office Monday morning and said "Happy to have Brock back?" I almost went Brockness Monster on his ass for spoiling me!
But I stayed away from this thread until I could properly watch it last night.... this episode made me so many kinds of happy, I can't even express it. From Hatred's screen name and the IM messages, to Brock and 21's fight, 24's ghost, 21's obsession with Dr. Mrs. The Monarch, to Brock being back..... oh god, yes!!

The fourth season of The Venture Bros. premiered on October 18, 2009. The season is planned to air as two sets of eight episodes, with the first eight airing in the Fall of 2009 and the remaining episodes likely airing Spring 2010.
Are we already 8 in?? =o
Edit: hmm... I guess so:

That's it for Venture Bros Season 4.1. The show will return with 8 more episodes in spring/summer 2010.
Doc and Jackson are going to be at an Adult Swim panel (along with Metalocalypse's Brendon Small) this afternoon st SDCC. Wonder if there will be any interesting news or videos.....
So as the new season is quickly approaching I was surprised to get a PM from someone working for adultswim.uk looking to let our members know about the adultswim.uk Facebook page. Since we don't allow advertising they asked permission to share a link with you guys and I figured that was harmless enough! I am sure those of you that might be in the UK and want to be updated with new adultswim.uk's info will friend them on Facebook. (Lord knows I have the US version 'liked' myself!)
I also forgot. Too focused on True Blood. But Adult Swim normally has them up online pretty quickly, so i am going to look for the episode this afternoon to catch up!
For those of you that missed it last weekend, the episode is now up at Adult Swim. And I locked it in to tape last night's episode, so I can go home tonight and watch it! Then I will be all caught up!
Screens would do. I think I am due for a new banner. Heck you can even make the banner if you like! I am down to simple crop and pastes since I haven't bought a new image program lately.
I saw one person claiming that this was a SERIES wrap up, that Doc and Jackson had claimed that the hours and effort they put into the show wasn't paying them enough to keep it up, but I can't find a source for that either. And everything I CAN find only calls it the Season Wrap, not Series.
I was just reporting what I had read. I wasn't saying it was the truth. (And also saying I would riot IF it turned out to be the truth.) Not my fault you read only part of my post.
Can I just say there was so much happening in this episode it was a little bit like overload? I actually spent almost a half an hour after turning it off laying in bed thinking about it instead of just going to sleep.
ctrl - can we get a screencap of Triana's boyfriend? XD
Honestly, the whole thing was completely brain meltingly epic.
Spoiler: in case you didn't watch last night and are tempting fate by coming in here...
Molotov finally removing the chastity belt, just to be giving it up for Monstroso. That's just COLD, woman. =/ Triana and her boyfriend and subsequently Dean on the lawn dressed as a 'ghost' with the burning T behind him. All the Sphinx operatives that were actually working for OSI. Shoreleave and The Alchemist in the Victory Day kiss pose. Monarch and Dr. Mrs. The Monarch are swingers. Gary quits. Hatred changing his tattoo. The return of Princess Tiny Feet and that fact she STILL hasn't said anything. Hank trying to get the postal carrier to go to the prom with him.
Oh and I think I finally understand what you were asking about with 24 - that guy being one of the Monarch's former henches who was now one of Monstro's? He could see 24 because he was dead too. All the henches that were at the gate with Al got killed. The ones you see 'alive' were actually their ghosts, which was why 24 said he had unpleasant news for him when he said something like "I heard you got killed'.
I'm actually not surprised what they did with 24 this season. People were really bummed he was dead and this was a way to keep him around for a while longer and let people get used to the idea I think. I don't think Doc liked doing his voice. He said it was hard to do.
I didn't know the real name - it's just how I knew it. XD Thanks for enlightening me!
Also thanks for the screencap! Hahaha! I am strangely enamored with him as is one of my best friends. XD We were wondering if maybe Venture Industries could make him metal legs. XD
I THINK that thinkgeek is actually doing a run of reissuing older Venture shirts that were part of the shirt of the month thing, do you remember that? The Venture blog mentioned those shirts and how much everyone liked them and the next thing I know ThinkGeek has the butterfly and the guild one, so.... I just want the Dr Girlfriend 60's one, so I have my fingers crossed.
He was quite witty during the band's set. When I met him there was a lot of people looking to get his attention, so we only got to talk to him a very little bit and get some quick pictures. But he was super nice and friendly.
