Final Fantasy X User Reviews

8.0

A wonderful FF game but still slightly flawed. A one-hit wonder I should say

The good:

Story is deep and relatable
Characters are realistic and easy to love
Graphics are above expectations
Soundtrack is somber and emotional

The bad:

Annoying bosses
No replay value
Very few mini-games
Battle system is boring and predictable
Too linear

Summary:

Final Fantasy X is one of the most famous titles in the series alongside 7, 8, and 9. While it is indeed awesome, there were some pretty big flaws in the game that slightly ruined it for me. But before I can get to those, I have to talk about the amazing things.

The story in FFX is quite what you'd expect from a Final Fantasy game: depressing, deep, and full of angst. For long-time fans of the franchise, it won't really amaze them much. But for first-timers, it'll blow you away. It is so amazing that you'll definitely shed a tear or two. I won't go into detail due to spoilers but I will say ...

An obsession with death

Summary:

On a collapsed piece of highway, he and the structure are now, almost selectively, being pulled upward toward the beast's monstrous orifice. It's colossal presence stirs the futuristic city into debris, the golden haired athlete within its grasp, who just moments before was being cheered by a stadium of thousands. Now, the grip of an old mentor is all that keeps Tidus from floating into the abyss. Holding the hotshot by the scruff of his collar, suspended, flailing, and screaming, the grizzled man looks up to the void for assurance. Satisfied, he offers Tidus to its clutches. "This is it," ...

Why use a sword when a volley ball seems to be more effective?

Summary:

Throughout the years, I've tried to wrap my head around Final Fantasy X. It's my first Final Fantasy game, one of my first games with the Playstation logo on it, and one of my first JRPGs. It was the game that said to me “yep, the PS2 is miles upon miles ahead of the Nintendo 64 in terms of raw technological prowess”. I mean, that cutscene where Sin blows up Zanarkand? Holy shit, it looked so *bleep*ing real to my ten year old brain in the year 2002 that I had to buy it to experience more! However, graphics age, and like human beings, you start to see it for what it really is once its looks...

A Fantasy With Fewer Extras

Summary:

When it comes to the JRPG genre it is difficult to find a series more note worthy than Final Fantasy, which has left quite an impression and is the reason gamers will have such high expectations for such games. FFX marks the first entry onto the PS2, and so now we see whether Square have made use of the hardware to deliver the best fantasy adventure they can do.

The story kicks off with blitzball star (think underwater rugby) Tidus about to play a game. Stuff happens. Sin (really large monster) attacks. Badass dude Auron turn up and the pair fight the spinspawn off, only for Tidus to get clo...

When it stubs a toe, expect a 20 minute cutscene

Summary:

One game that the PS2 needed to carry Sony’s legacy of excellent RPGs over to a new console was Final Fantasy X. It had everything: Cutting edge graphics, seemingly epic storyline, excellent soundtrack and some high quality cutscenes amongst a different sort of leveling system and old school turn based gameplay. It could’ve utilized what it had to make a game that will excel Final Fantasy IX (which is one of my favorite RPGs), but instead decided to take the Final Fantasy VIII route and put way too much emphasis on cinematics and justifying and (often) overcomplicating nothing that anybody ...

An RPG Revolution!

The good:

-Incredible Graphics
-Gripping Storyline
-Loveable Characters
-Wonderful Music
-Replayability

The bad:

-In the English Version the voice-overs are noticeable, when the characters finish speaking their mouths keep moving for some time after.

Summary:

Graphics
9/10
The graphics during regular gameplay are great, probably the best in all of gaming at it's release. However, you can see some pixelated edges and sometimes characters faces look somewhat flat. However, the CGI scenes are absolutely amazing. The only reason you can tell it's not real is by the ridiculous clothes Tidus is wearing.

Storyline
10/10
One of, if not the greatest storyline in all of Final Fantasy. You will get sucked into the story and the love story between Tidus and Yuna. The game is filled with twists that will drop your jaw and force you to keep playing to find out mor...
