FIFA Soccer 06 User Reviews

Not bad, not bad.

The good:

- New kits
- Nice unlockables
- 5th difficulty
- Wide selection of teams
- Alot of challenges
- Player Realism

The bad:

- You have to update alot of transfers yourself
- Set pieces
- Passing sometimes lacks quality

Summary:

Gameplay

The gameplay on FIFA06 can leave you frustrated sometimes with it's passing. From players not making runs to players always running offside. The thing that annoys me the most is the amount of times your caught offside and players not making runs and when do do make runs they seem to change their mind and start running backwards which leaves you short of passing options when your in your opponents half and you loose the ball especially on harder difficulties. Now you have tactical options which is a good feature you can change mentality of the team to attack, defend or stay at neutra...

FIFA 06: A improvement?

The good:

Manager Mode, you are now more involved
New Kits
New Songs
Can unlock Classic XI and World XI
New Polish league plus new teams in Rest of the World
Can unlock new 5th difficulty
You can watch season highlights of the best leagues
New controls, includes PES controls
The option to play FIFA 94

The bad:

Same scoring techinque as the last game
Graphics a little darker
Man U kits are completely wrong
Still no Holland!

Summary:

I bought FIFA 06 the day it came out and loaded the game up. First thing that happened, a legends team challenges you to a match and I knew that it had changed but for the good or bad? I won the challenge, collected the points and continued. I have to say it's excellent. They've set challenges for you to complete and earn points which you can spend in the shop. You can buy balls, kits, stadiums, teams and the option to play 5 star teams in Manager mode. It now has the ability to edit players (let's tweak Bergkamp a little bit more). Manager mode has improved, you are given a lot of decision...

FIFA 06, a step in the right direction?

The good:

-Improved Career Mode
-New FIFA Lounge for Offline Play with Friends
-Improved Create-a-Player
-Ability to Edit Existing Players
-Improved Controls, Tactics Take a Bigger Role

The bad:

-Teams not complete, only updated to the 23rd August
-Has the occasional glitch

Summary:

This year EA obviously are trying to win fans back following the dominance of PES, and have improved from last year in many areas

With career mode, you can now make loans which is something needed for people playing in lower leagues. And loans are needed with the new addition of finances taking a major role, if you can't control your finances you will be out of a job. You have to check on player wages, and you have control of ticket prices in home games. At the end of each game you get a summary of how much you either gained or lost. Players improve throughout your career, so if an upcoming ...

Basic Football At Its Finest

The good:

  • Amount of unlockables
  • Lots of licenses
  • Team chemistry
  • Individual goal celebrations

    The bad:

  • Transfers not up to date
  • Minor glitches

    Summary:

Another year when I am trying to defend FIFA and help it reclaim its position as king of the football in the gaming world. I thought FIFA 2005 was a improvement from FIFA 2004 and I still believe it was, but I now also think that FIFA 2006 is a improvement from FIFA 2005. Pro Evolution Soccer 5 came out just under a week ago and I am still yet to play it, although I hear from friends that it's as good as ever. So who will be victorious this year?

So what has improved from EA's last installment of the FIFA games? Well firstly the special features have been removed, meaning Off The Ball is gon...

Best FIFA game yet and arguably better than PES

    The good:

*Arguably more realistic simulation of a football game than PES.
*Full Licences, 26 leagues, 10,000 players
    *Career Mode is best yet
*Original FIFA 94' is included in this game

    The bad:

    *Not as smooth as PES4
*Players feel sluggish and slow (but this is fixed by putting the game speed on fast in the options)
*No Owen at Newcastle, Van Der Meyde at Everton etc
    *Minor glitches

    Summary:

    Background
I'm a massive Pro Evolution Soccer fan, and have prefered the ISS/PES series to FIFA since 1998. ISS Pro 98' and FIFA 98' were the last time IMO that EA and Konami were level with each other, since then Konami (the creators of PES) have killed EA in terms of making realistic football sims. However this year could be different. Since PES5 isn't released and at the moment I think FIFA 2006 is the most realistic football sim to date.

EA (creators of FIFA 06), have always relied on the full FIFA licence and have been far too lazy to make a decent football game in terms of gamepl...
