Etrian Odyseey IV: Legends of the Titan is a dungeon crawler with some role playing game elements. This is the first game in its series to be released on the 3DS and it's the sequel to Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City.
The game is focused on an exploration guild that is sent to reach an ancient tree called Yggdrasil which has never been explored as the roots of the tree are in a far away land. The Count of the land has requested that the Explorers Guild reach the tree to discover its secrets; the player is the latest explorer who is sent to the tree.
It was developed and published by Atlus for the Nintendo 3DS in 2013.
The core gameplay is based around exploring the various dungeons and killing the monsters within them. In addition to this, the player can also visit the overworld and harvest food which can be used to increase stats or be sold for money.
Dungeons are explored as a party; the player creates a party from ten available classes to form a guild which is sent to the tree. The characters in the party can be customized to suit the players playstyle, if the party dies then the player is given a gameover.
Dungeons in the game are mapped manually as the player explores the different rooms. Bosses are not restricted to certain areas, they can free-roam the floor and the player can encounter them at any time.
There are six different regions and one main dungeon in each region, there are also various other smaller dungeons. Each region is themed differently.
