Dynasty Warriors 4: Xtreme Legends User Reviews

Another great game

The good:

Great graphics
Good music
Lots of characters
Level 11 weapons
Cool musou attacks
Xtreme mode

The bad:

Difficulty
WAY TOO MUCH REPETITION
Phantom effect

Summary:

I'll start this off with the good. This game is a lot of fun, and I consider it one of my absolute favorites. I love the graphics in this game. The graphics are very good, and the character motions are fluid. Even though I'm not exactly a fan of the genre of music on the game, I did kind of enjoy it because it often set the right mood for it. Another great thing about this game is the character selection. There are 40+ characters, and they're already unlocked from the beginning. All have their own style and set of moves. Koei took it a step further by adding level 11 weapons, which look c...

Improved on DW4

The good:

Individual stage for each character
New Xtreme mode
11th weapons have stat boosters like in DW3

The bad:

Way too much damage taken in Very Hard mode
Few new items that weren't in DW3:XL
No campaign mode

Summary:

In my opinion DW4:XL improved upon DW4 and made the whole thing more worthwhile. In general there are more enemies on the map in this game and that re-injected some of the fun that was lost in DW4. Being an expansion pack it didn't sell as well as DW4 plus you needed DW4 to get the full experience of this game, so probably only the more die-hard fans bought this.

Every character has one specific map in this game in Legend mode that was important in their history. It was either a key battle where that warrior shined, or where they did some remarkable act of bravery to save someone. These are ...

Game of the ...Panda?

The good:

Where to start? Well, let's start with the improvements from KOEI's last installment of the series before this one, Dynasty Warriors 4, and compare it to Dynasty Warriors 4: Xtreme Legends.

+ 5 new difficulty settings (very easy, easy, normal, hard, very hard)
+ 2 brand new gameplay modes (Legends mode and Xtreme mode)
+ Graphics have improved a whole lot
+ More enemies
+ Levels are more detail, seeing as there are specific levels for each of the 42 playable generals
+ Data is transferable from Dynasty Warriors 4 to DW4: XL
+ New lv 11 weapons!
+ New items

The bad:

There reall isn't all that much bad in this game. I think that this game could possibly be the PS2 game of the year (in my mind), so how could there really be any bad? Well...no, there isn't.

Summary:

When i first played the Dynasty Warriors sereies, it hooked me like a Panda on drugs. Or...a fish to bait. Whichever floats your bamboo....

Anyways, like i was saying, this series is awsome in almost every aspect. With this last game they produced, it has outdone all its previous siblings. It's truly the best of the bunch.

This is all mainly because of the super improved graphics, computer AI, weapons system...all the improvements just kick some serious panda.

I strongly recommend this game to anyone out there who is interested in asian culture, or just wants a kick [panda] game that'll keep...

The Best Game In the World

The good:

Expand your empire to great depths and control vast territories! You can spend hours on this superb game without getting bored, the details of this game is just overwhelming! You can give generals reward titles and the natural disasters are cool!

The bad:

The computer players are quite boring Becouse Computer dosen't give any time to do your cool moves.

Summary:

To improve the game, the game developers and designers should think about making the maps bigger, better 3D graphics, better soundtracks and more weapons variety. Need's to be improved on animation and graphics. Otherwards, it's the best game ever! This is one of the hottest games I have played this whole year - superb graphics and this a great action romp. Some other users have diss'd the game cuz they say it's too short, or it doesn't have enough weapons.

The perfect game

The good:

The good is most of the game, probably 9/10. I love this game and you should as well. You get to have all the stuff from Dw4, so you have all the stats and weapons and items. The Legend Mode is the best, each character has their own level which is awesome. Then there is Xtreme Mode you travel buying items to make you stronger and you wander the land, fighting and finding units to fight for you and friends to help in your journey.

The bad:

The only bad thing is the no change in the create a warrior, it sucks just the same stuff. There is also the problem with leveling the edit characters up and the fact that you can`t change their clothes or weapon after you make them, so you have to redo everything you did for your first person.

Summary:

This is the greatest game you have to get it. It is the best game in the WORLD.9until Dw5 comes out)

Another Triumph for the best series in videogame history

The good:

Once again the miracle workers at Koei have created a game so fun, exciting and easy to pick up and try out, that no one could possibly dislike it! What's most powerful about this game (I think) is the freedom it offers players. You don't need to work through seemingly impossible fights against incredibly powerful generals and unending amounts of soldiers to get the characters you want. Right from the start they are available to be tried out in any way you please. There's also the freedom to play various missions with each character, including the Xtreme mode which is my favorite, since it allows you to add to your strength after each fight, using the points you collect from your previous fight. Then there are the wonderful graphics which are just as spectacular as they were in DW4. Then there's the fighting itself, which, as always, is superb, and delightful. I love the relaxed, and un-tense attitude of this game. There are hardly ever the pressures that previous missions in previous DW games had. Time is never a problem (I hate it when a game forces me to rush) and depending on your difficulty preferance, the battles can be as easy, or challenging as you like.

The bad:

If there's one thing I think that's missing from this game, it's the story. The story that inspired this game an those before it is what really got me going when I first tried out Dynasty warriors 3. Sadly Koei neglected to provide much focuse on the story here, but that's something DW5 will be sure to take up.

Summary:

Overall this is another beautiful and masterful game. Anyone that likes the genre, the series, or just games that are fun, should try this one.
