Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 is the sequel to Spike's fighting game based on Akira Toriyama's wildly popular manga and anime series. The Budokai Tenkaichi series of DBZ games feature a new engine compared to the Dimps-developed Budokai titles, with a new in-game camera and the inclusion of the Ki gauge for use with various techniques.
Budokai Tenkaichi 2 features over 100 characters, though many of these are actually different "forms" of particular characters now considered separate roster entries unlike the original Budokai games. Certain characters are able to transform mid-battle, essentially changing characters. Battles take place across 15 arenas with 3D environments which are destructible based on attacks used. The game features 9 game modes across both single and multiplayer.
Budokai Tenkaichi 2 marked the first time that a modern DBZ fighting game was released on Nintendo's Wii platform. It is interesting to note that this is the only release in the Budokai Tenkaichi series where players can actually fly around the world map searching for the next destination in story mode, which features over 200 battles to complete.
This game is also known as Dragon Ball Z Sparking! Neo in Japan.
