Custom Robo User Reviews
Pretty Good Graphics, Very Cool Idea, Interesting Storyline, Awesome Multiplayer Action, Sweet Weapons and Robots. The bad:
Long Cutscenes, Little Replayability, Repetative, Stupid AISummary:
Custom Robo is a game very popular in Japan. Many people in the States have wanted this game, and it has come. Was it what everyone expected? For me, not at all.
Here's the gist: You make a robot and battle it against other bots. Each part (body, legs, bombs, pods, and weapons) each have strengths and weaknessess which make for very engaging battles. Sounds cool, right? For a while, it is. Flying through the air, shooting missles and lasers at your opponent is very fun the first time. However, after you find a robo confortable to you, you don't really wanna change. And after a time, the game...
Amazing fight system! Tons upon tons of different quality parts to choose from, as is to expect from the name Custom Robo. The plot was nothing short of great, very innovative. In-Battle graphics are possibly some of the best that the Gamecube can produce. If you're new to the franchise (Most Americans will be, as any older game of this franchise is only in Japan) it will be a fun experience from start to finish. The bad:
The story line is a bit short, that is the main story. After you beat the main story there is a new mode you unlock called the Grand Battle, and it will indeed take you a long time to finally complete one hundred percent. The player's graphics outside of the Holosseum are pretty weak. If you're a Seasoned Veteran or a Returning Pro, most of the challenges won't be that hard. The very last fight in the first story mode is ridiculous, five years later and I still struggle with beating it.Summary:
Overall the story was interesting. You start out as a jobless man looking to join the local Mercenary (I know right?) Squad known as the Steel Hearts. You immediately jump into the action after you get a call that the local Research Lab was attacked. Here you will be taught the controls and the very basics of the game. The controls are so natural that even as a total newbie I was able to jump straight into the game and play like it was natural. Your basic Robo setup consists of:
With five slots for customization, you just know this game will keep you on y...
-Fun costomization system
-in depth storyline
-cool looking robots and attacks
-Many cool fields to fight in
-No shortage of cut scenes
-some cut scenes take forever to end
-the graphics are only ok
-little replay value
-Annoying, repetetive face boxes
-After the story mode there is almost mothing to do
Custom Robo was a fun game while it lasted. After you beat the game and have played multiplayer for a while it tends to get boring. Let's not forget the ever lingering cut scenes. One in particular saves three times over the course of it in case you get tired and turn off the game cube. But it's still a pretty fun game with a good storyline. The fighting system was wall laid out too. I would have been a better game if it had more adventure too it instead of, go to a place, fight three enemies, fight there leader, lingering cinematic, next place. They could have done a better job in my opinion.
Graphics; Very Reminicent of Glitch In The System, with a little of that tiny-Gundam blended in.
Customizability; C'mon, with a name like CUSTOM ROBO wasn't it just a little obvious?
What Custom Robo does good, it does very well.
The Controls aren't very practical on Gamecuve controller. It's Short. A little childish with the slightly wacky proportions. Sometimes it can get so frustrating when you are getting pounded by wave after wave of enemy fire and can't return fire. Probably the second biggest downfall of this game is that aspect. People just don't like to play games where they can get their asses beat that badly.Summary:
Great game for GCN owners. This is definately a must-buy for all lovers of customizability and, well let's face it, there aren't that many great games on the Gamecube.
The fighting graphics are great, the interactive credits for "A New Journey", the customization, and the storyline. The bad:
Pretty short, can get boring, and the other characters won't let you say no to things (It takes about thirty times to say no)Summary:
Overall, this is a good game. The graphics are great. There's no use in arguing that. The interactive credits actually let you see out of your robo's eyes, and you get to fight another robo as the credits roll. The storyline is pretty deep, too. The problem is, you have to do everything. I tried (for fun) to say I didn't want to go to Z's hideout, and they wouldn't let me, even after 30 NOs! But overall, it's good. By the way, just for reading, here's a good combo for newbies: Javelin, Gatling Gun, Feather Legs, Spider Pod, and pretty much any bomb. There are plenty of combos, in fact, ther...
fun, challengeing, good graphics, map , battles, the customizing, rahu, and storylineThe bad:
evil (he's a bad guy), the fact its just and thing between 2 peoples minds and not like in a arena, that there only 6cmSummary:
its fun to play and has an ok storyline i like the parts thing were you customize them and the battles. i liked the map and how it looked and the charactors i thought it was funny how harry kept hitting on chicks in the middle of somthing important. i think its bad how they battle like they're just standing there when the other person can reach out and punch you or somthing and when you have to beat everyone again and get all Gold, Silver, and Bronze in every turnament
(it gets really annoying after awhile.). i think the game has its good and bad points, but overall its a good game
