Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back User Reviews
THIS is Crash Bandicoot. This is the second Crash game, released in 1997, and it is at the top of the series. Graphics aren't everything--even though they are "old," this game, in my opinion, is the best of the series, perhaps the exception of Crash Team Racing. Throughout this review, I will list the reasons why you should get (or maybe should I say "should have gotten") this game.
The New Stuff:
The sequel to the original Crash game introduces many new features, that actually lasted throughout the series. The box gems in this game are, for the most part, much easier to ...
Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back for Playstation. With the massive success of the original title, the sequel was intended to be a massive, massive improvement, and although some people think it ruined Crash Bandicoot’s simplicity, it really didn’t, and kick started all the Crash Bandicoot games we know today.
The game involves you, playing as Crash Bandicoot. You start out in the first “warp zone” of many, and Cortex will brief you.
Warp Zones are the main place where you can find levels. You’ll be dropped in the first Warp Zone, and you’ll be able to choose a level in that Warp Zone. O...
Greatly improved save system
More exciting bosses
More variety in levels
Fewer levels than the original
Challenge isn't there
This game is worth buying, especially if you enjoyed the original title.
The storyline is improved in contrast to the original.
After cast onto the island, Dr. Cortex discovers hidden crystals, which he can use against the world. But without anymore qualifying henchmen to retrieve the crystals on the islands, he seeks to use his arch enemy: Crash Bandicoot!
In my opinion, this storyline is much more solid than the original.
The gameplay, though interesting, just isn't as challenging. The original, even with its horrible save system, still had much more challenging g...
Crash Bandicoot 2 is definetly one of the best platformers you'll find on the PSX. Everything that was messed up in the original Crash Bandicoot (Especically the horrid save system) has been fixed to make a new and totally improved platformer with plenty of different flavors throughout. I can see why it has that "Greatest Hits" label on the side of the case! (=
For those who didn't know, Crash Bandicoot, the original, was made in 1996 by Naughty Dog. It revolved a mutated bandicoot marching across a linear path, it was a very tough game and the save system was the worst one ever. Most peop...
A good challenge
Better graphics than the first game
Crash Bandicoot 2 continues from the first game. Cortex falls out of the sky. Crash thinks Cortex is gone for good. Unfortunetly, Crash's problems are just beginning. Cortex lands in a place with lots of crystals. He takes one to his lab to examine it. Cortex realizes that it will destroy the earth. The only way to prevent this is if Crash finds all 25 slave crystals. Crash must gather all of them-but, not without a few boss challenges. Some old favorites are back such as Ripper Roo. Dr. N. Brio says that he's going to try to destroy Cortex. To do that, Crash must obtain all 42 gems. Who sh...
3D world adventure. Lots of unique levels. Lots of stuff to accomplish. The bad:
This game was a great game. I have to admit, some parts were damn tough. I loved how there were so many unique levels and it seems your in a different part of the world.
