CHRONO TRIGGER User Reviews
Graphics- 16-bit never looked this good. The crisp graphics just add to this heaven in a cartridge.
Music- One of the competitors for the best soundtrack ever. Every single track oozes with beauty. My favorite is frogs theme which really has a feeling of contentment as frogs runs and joins you.
Story- You start off at the millennium fair and from there the story takes a dark turn into a redemption plot as you are whisked away to several time periods including the future where you find a video log of the end of the world.
Also the game has over 5 endings!
Gameplay- When you boot up the game it asks whether or not you want active or turn-based fighting. Turn -based is the old nostalgic way but active is where the game really shines. You must wait your turn as a gauge next to your life an special points, fills up. During this short time you must chose or wait till after it's filled to plan your strategy, whether it's healing your party or pulling off standard or devastating special attacks. Special attacks are when you pull off either a solo, multi, or triple move of extreme proportions. Such as Crono's Slash or Frog's Slurp Cut.
Also the terrain is nice and full of variety. You move around a map, select a location, as you execute your mission in that area. It's very open and there are side quests and bonus items to collect. The biggest thing though is the fact you can avoid battles. To start a battle you simply bump into an enemy or they bump into you. But you can simply avoid them, but this does alter your stats and you wont level up.
Design- The game has a very simple game menu interface with some new innovative features like when your going to equip something instead of selecting the piece you want to equip simply choose your already equipped item and your transferred to a side menu with items you can equip. The level up and stats interface are very easy, like most RPGs, but this tells you how many level up points to you're next earned special. The battle menu is standard but in the special menu they categorize it into solo, multi, or triple.
Overall- This game is a gem and since they ported it to the D.S. give it a chance. This is one of the best RPGs and I'd highly recommend it. Forget Final Fantasy 7, Viva la Chrono!
Is there any....didnt think so.Summary:
This game has a sequel: Chrono Cross, I've herd it's completely different but i can't judge on that yet. It's set in a different dimension and the story was different, good, but different. But given the success of this game it cant be bad...can it?
The good old SNES. This system was home to many great enduring RPG titles such as the Final Fantasy 4-6, The Secret of Mana, and one of Marios's first non-platforming games, Super Mario RPG. among these titles, one stood out higher than the rest, the name was Chrono Trigger. Some call it the greatest RPG of all time, but personally I didn't really think it was that much better than the rest. Some of you may have just smashed the computer in anger, but hear me out and I'll tell you why later on in the review.
Now this story is set in the year 1000, in the beginning at least. Then some chick m...
Hello there, potential consumer. Welcome to my Chrono Trigger DS review. There are two things you need to know before you read this review. I am a newcomer to the game myself, I believe my score is fair and is not affected by nostalgia; and the 5 score does not mean it is the perfect game. There is no such thing as a perfect game. The 5 means a "Must Play" from me. Here's my rating system:
5 - Outstanding, with very little or no flaws. A must play for fans and newcomers of the genre.
4 - Great, with minor flaws. Fans of the genre should definitely pick this up.
3 - Good, with several apparent ...

-Complex and storyline
-Battle system enjoyable
-Double and triple techs
-Characters unique and mostly important to the story
-Long game with several hours of sidequests and unique weapons and accesories
Chrono Trigger was, without a doubt, the best game of its time and continues to remain a classic hit which can be found in the library of any hardcore RPG fan. But you don't even have to be into RPGs to like this game. Its overall playability, awesome storyline, and the New Game + feature is enough to motivate anyone to play this game through and enjoy it.
In this day of high quality 256-bit graphics, it might be easy to get turned off by this game's graphics. However, in the 3 years that I've owned this game, I've enjoyed the graphics despite eye candy like Final Fantasy X and Xenosaga: Epi...

Although this game was originally maid in the Super Nintendo Entertainment System console, SquareSoft decided to make it as well for the Playstation (PSX) console giving it another chance for the gamers of today and tomorrow to play once more. Few things were change from the original SNES version such as bugs and a few new graphics were added. What did change is that it transformed from a catridge for SNES to a CD for Playstation. Although this game has the Super Nintendo Entertainment System graphics, it still continues to be the game that's fun to play because of its impacting graphics an...
this game has really cool "movies" that make you feel like your watchin DBZ or somthing, it has the same story as the original chrono trigger on SNES (i own it) and it has a final fantasy feel to it. kinda like a mix of FF and secret of mana or something. The bad:
