Call of Duty: Ghosts is the tenth installment to join the long-running action shooter franchise, and the sixth to be developed by Infinity Ward. The game was released November 2013 to coincide with the launch of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles.
Taking place in an alternate timeline where the Middle East has suffered a nuclear catastrophe, the oil-rich nations of South America form the antagonistic group, "The Federation," and launch attacks on neighboring countries and continents. In response, a number of U.S. Special Operations personnel band together, calling themselves "Ghosts," and continue carrying out clandestine missions on behalf of the United States.
The bulk of the campaign takes place ten years after the Federation's attack, when the group reaches a stalemate with U.S. forces. Players take the role of Logan Walker, one of the Ghosts in the story, while occasionally taking control of other playable characters, including Logan's father and a trained German Shepherd dog.
Call of Duty: Ghosts also marks the first Call of Duty game to feature playable female soldiers. Players are able to choose the gender of their soldiers in multiplayer, as well as the members of their team in Squads.
Other new features found in the multiplayer include destructible maps, the nuke-like KEM Strike, and the ability to see outside a sniper scope when zoomed in.
