[edit] Background

Call of Duty 2 is the second game in the Call of Duty series and also the second to be set in World War II; the single-player campaign is split between four different playable characters with a variety of missions to complete across each characters story.

It features two British, an American and a Russian soldier who are split between three different campaigns set in different locations around the world. Captain Price from the first game returns in the British 7th Armored Division and takes a main role in the second campaign story.

Call of Duty 2 was developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision in 2005 for the Windows PC and Xbox 360 before being ported to Mac PC and Mobile devices.

[edit] Gameplay

It follows the classic FPS gameplay seen in the original game where the player completes different objectives to progress through the linear story; players can only carry two firearms at once along with various other weapons such as smoke grenades. Some weapons can only be used at specific points in the game and some missions allow the player to control a tank.

The player has access to a variety of useful items throughout the campaign to aid them in missions; they can also use their gun's scope for more accuracy when shooting. There is no on-screen health bar and when the player takes too much damage the screen will turn red; taking cover is an important part of the game to avoid taking damage and to regenerate health.

Various multiplayer modes exist including Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag; the PC version of the game can support up to 64 players in a single instance for team-based gamemodes.

[edit] What's New

This was the first game to introduce usable a vehicle and a range of new weapons such a machine guns; it also added binoculars to the series which allows the player to scout ahead or select targets for artillery.

[edit] Features

Cover based – Take cover to regenerate health and use the scope for more accurate shots

Variety of weapons – Switch between firearms, use grenades and tanks to advance through missions

Multiplayer – Fight online with or against other players with four player local split-screen
