Baldur's Gate User Reviews
Baldur's Gate (henceforth BG) is an RPG based on traditional Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (AD&D) rules. It attempts to bring these rules into a ''real time'' world, and pulls it off almost flawlessly.
Before you even begin the game itself you're confronted with a rather daunting-looking character creation menu. Here you get to customize many aspects of your character, ranging from their name and gender to their specific class, race and alignment. The various races and classes offered will be instantly recognizable to those familiar with AD&D. There are 6 races offered, humans, elves, half-...
Everything is great. Sounds, challenge, quests, story, weapons, development, graphics, enemies, etc. You will find yourself whiling away hours with this one. (At least 6,000)The bad:
If you're one of those "Must immediately become uber-powerful, must slaughter everything and have no resistance" kind of people, don't bother with BG. There is little opportunity to become a god in this game, and there's quite a challenge.Summary:
This game paves the way for its perfect sequel, BG2. It is barely less of a game though. You'll find yourself almost confused and overwhelmed midway through, because there are so many quests and the storyline is so enticing.
If you played BG2 before BG1, be prepared for only a minor letdown, because many things in BG1 match or exceed its sequel.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! HIGHLY!!!!
~The game play
Well this game actually turned out to be a success on of the xbox. The past games originated from the PC and PS2 and finally made its way to the xbox. I am pleased to have another excellent RPG game to play.
The game starts you off with the choice of 3 different and unique characters. These characters are the Arcane Archer, Dwarven fighter and an Elvin sorceress. After completing the game with one of these characters you can go back to the start and play the game over with the same character or chose another one. This adds to the lastibility of the game.
The graphics are out standing consider...
General/Summary: Indeed Baldur's Gate is successful in every aspect of the game. It is quite astonishing how I played this game until a few months ago (for three consecutive years!) when I got Baldur's Gate 2...I must have been mad. But the truth is, I am (still) not an RPG maniac, but I find this game extremely addictive, and I really mean it. Ok, it's pretty ancient compared to games such as Morrowind or Neverwinter Nights, but I think it's worth having a look at the 'Classic Model RPG' which many newly released games should pay attention to. And since it's so old, you can buy this game c...
getting other characters a d&d type game pretty good graphics in moviesThe bad:
