Assassin’s Creed 2 is the 2010 sequel to Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed, and the continuation of one of Ubisoft's most successful franchises. The game takes place following the events of Assassin's Creed, with Desmond seeking refuge with the modern day Assassins in a warehouse hideout, complete with their own Animus.
For newcommers to the franchise, the story revolves around the ancient conflict between the secretive Assassins and Templars. Templars have long sought the means to control the world, while Assassins oppose them in a bid to save the world's freedom. Desmond is a genetic descendant of famous Assassins, and through the technology of the Animus, can relive the genetic memories of his ancestors. He does this in order to seek information lost to history, in a bid to save the Assassin organisation in the face of the modern Templars, who are a larger threat than ever before as a large and well funded organisation.
In this installment, Desmond returns to 15th century Renaissance Italy as Ezio Auditore Da Firenze, a young Italian noble who becomes entangled in the Templar conflict when his family is betrayed. Ezio seeks vengeance, and becomes an Assassin of ever greater abilities in his quest. His adventure will take him from Firenze to Venice and the Italian countryside, aided by his good friend, Leondardo DaVinci, who is fascinated by the Asassin technology Ezio inherits.
 Game Play
The game play is largely retained from the original Assassin's Creed, with players controlling Ezio in an open world. Players free roam and free run in large cities, completing objectives, side quests, and following a main plotline as they uncover the Templar plot. Players can roam the streets, climb buildings, run along rooftops, jump from building to build, climb tall towers, and even dive off of them.
As an open world game, players are encourage to explored and uncover the map, revealing objectives by climbing viewpoints. This gives developers and designers the opportunity to show off the vast locales and distant views as players progress along the game.
Like in the first installment of the game, players must avoid detection by enemies, often guards, or else evade capture when spotted. Some missions involve stealth, some involve stealthy kills, and others may result in oupull-right combat, whether with sword or ranged.
