Activision Classics is just that - old Atari 2600 games ported for the PS One. A good idea - who doesn't want to play Pitfall again. You might spend a good amount of time playing Pitfall, since that is one of the greatest games of all time. Too bad Pitfall 2 isn't included on this disc as well.
And therein lies the problem. Many of these "classic" games aren't really classics. There may have been a time when I spent hours playing Barnstorming or Stanmpede on my Atari, but usually I played for 10-15 minutes and switched cartridges. That is how you will feel now, and you can't switch as easily...
Recently, there seems to be a slurge of a bunch of older games collected together forming a new game. Activision Classics is one of those games. With 30 games all made by Activision for the Atari 2600, it is one of the larger collections, but does quantity make better quality? It is hard to criticise the graphics and controls as well as other features for each individual game itself, but in all of the menus, nothing is overwhelmingly good, and it seems as though this game was trown together.
