It is a rare thing for a super hero film to become anything but mediocre and over hyped, take 'Spiderman' for example, but 'The Dark Knight' took cinemas by storm and went on to win many prestigious awards.
'The Dark Knight' features Hollywood legends such as Christian Bale and Morgan Freeman, but the real star of the film was supporting actor Heath Ledger, who plays the role of the antagonist 'The Joker'. With the help of an amazing make up artist and real talent; Ledger would have been boosted to superstardom if it hadn't been for his tragic death. The film starts off sometime after 'Batman Begins' and opens with The Joker and his men holding up a bank, and it is beautifully filmed and acted. The director does an excellent job of demonstrating tension between members of the gang, as they all fight to earn a better cut of the profit. The Dark Knight is a 2008 American action film co-written and directed by Christopher Nolan. Based on the DC Comics character Batman, the film is part of Nolan's Batman film series and a sequel to 2005's Batman Begins. Christian Bale reprises the lead role. The main actors of the film include the Heath Ledger giving his portrayal of the Joker; Aaron Eckhart plays the role of the Harvey Dent the district attorney and love interest to the Batman and Harvey, D.A. Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal).
The plot takes in the villain filled city of Gotham and it’s once again the Batman’s job to protect the city, this time he has help from Harvey Dent, who helps clean up the streets with his street laws. Sadly the city becomes corrupt as the Joker attracted by having a challenge in the batman comes to the city to cause chaos or as he views this having some fun.
