Isaac Asimov is considered a genius among science fiction authors. Thankfully, I, Robot credits the film as "suggested" by Asimov's work, rather than based on it, because if it were the latter, Asimov fans would probably protest. The film takes some of the characters and principals set forth by Asimov in novels now over half a century old, but still extremely relevant. It then guts any sense of intelligence and opts for big special effects appropriate for a summer movie. The result is somewhere in between. It's definitely unsatisfactory for a science fiction movie, and barely tolerable as an action one. I, Robot is built on the three laws of robotics. These laws state that robots cannot harm humans, they must obey humans except when orders conflict with the prior law, and they must preserve their own existence as long as said preservation does not conflict with the first two laws.

Overall this movie had lots of action, and thats why most people saw it. A good sci-fi movie, but not the depth of all those lovey-dovey dramas

THE GOOD:
Good plot
Brilliant special effect
Good combat
Good acting
You can't help but feel excited when watching it sometimes

THE BAD:
Can get cliched

SUMMARY:
I, Robot is very good sci-fi action movies starring Will Smith.

The main plot is that there are lots of robots helping out Chicago with helping children crossing the road and simple jobs. Will Smith's character, Detective Spooner, believes that having robots is a bad idea. Deeper Spooner digs into the plot it is surprisingly deep for a movie that I thought would be just action.

Speaking of action I, Robot's action scenes are superb. The special effects are amazing and you can't help to think I'm impressed.

Will plays Spooner well but the only thing wrong is that it get cliched.

That's all. Enjoy folks!

THE GOOD:
-Great acting.
-Cool vehicles and gadgets.
-Has a pretty good storyline.
-Better than Minority Report.
-Nice special effects.

THE BAD:
None

SUMMARY:
A Futuristic movie that is not to be missed. I'm a will smith fan and I loved this movie.
The year is 2035, and Earth is loaded with Awesome weapons,Vehicles, and Gadgets.

The plot summary is:

Set in a future Earth (2035 A.D.) where robots are common assistants and workers for their human owners, this is the story of "robotophobic" Chicago Police Detective John Spooner's (Smith) investigation into the murder of Dr. Alfred Lanning (James Cromwell), who works at U.S. Robotics, in which a robot, Sonny (Tudyk), appears to be implicated, even though that would mean the robot had violated the Three Laws of Robotics, which is apparently impossible. It seems impossible because.. if robots can break those laws, there's nothing to stop them from taking over the world, as humans have grown to become completely dependent upon their robots. Or maybe... they already have? Aiding Spooner in his investigation is a psychologist, Dr. Susan Calvin (Moynahan), who specializes in the psyches of robots.

I saw this film when it opened mainly because Will Smith stars in it, but there were many other things to like about this film. One, there are a lot of great action sequences that are unbelievable. Two, I liked the variety of cool gadgets & vehicles. Three, Smith puts his popular mix of charisma & acting talent to excellent use here.
Another interesting part of the story is how the robots are designed to interact with humans, and it got me to wondering if perhaps this film is a preview of life 30 years or so down the road? All things considered, this is another one of Smith's solid summer blockbusters, and is certainly worth putting down the $8 for.

THE GOOD:
This has to be the best movie of the year so far or at least the best movie of summer 2004. The acting, the script and the special effects are all top notch here. Will Smith delivers in a role slightly different from his normal role of don't-give-a-shit kinda guy trying to save the world. Alan Tudyk playing the role of the "unique" robot Sonny deserves special mention here as one of the most believable and convincing CGI characters next to Gollum in LOTR. You can really feel for him...

THE BAD:
The advertising... way too much advertising. It might help to create a convincing futuristic world that we are familiar with but it honestly feels like one huge advertisement for Converse shoes - but at least you know why you don't see any Converse shoes from the year 2035 - it's cos they got shut down like they should - anyone who insists on making shoes like that should be shut down immediately...

SUMMARY:
A brilliant movie IMHO. I thought it would be just another Minority Report style flick - a special effects extravanganza special of Murder She Wrote... I was pleasantly surprised and pleased to find out I was wrong. It does follow the tradition of MR by featuring an insane amount of product placements... well, actually not that many but the emphasis on Converse shoes really pisses me off... They don't even look that great... The Audi was cool though. Battles in the vein of LOTR's, thanks to WETA's Massive engine again are certainly welcome although unfortunately, these sequences aren't that long. Somehow the movie feels shorter than its 114 minute runtime but better to have a brilliant movie that feels short than a long movie that's just plain shitty. I'm definitely getting this on DVD when it comes out. Two thumbs up, I'd put more if I had more than two thumbs... Do my toes count as well?
