XGI Volari Duo V8 Ultra

THE BAD:
Not one 4 OverClocking .No Heat sink on Memory.The Fans a loude ..Not as loude as Some ATI ot Nvida cards ,Neverless its there and buyers may think theres a issue with the new card.
Very High price ..$615 . for this beast hmmmmmm, You would have been better paying that for a AMD 64+CPU .
Value is just not there . 2x power jumpers r needed and a 400+ (watt) PowersBox . Some games dont work ,,New drivers will fix this ..Still the issue is there . Dont expect to get one at the local Comp shop as u will have to get this Card imported ....Or harass Australia IT to order u in one .

SUMMARY:
This card seems to be getting a BIG following in Euro and the UK . I had doubts about this card as XGI is a sub company of SIS, This gave me bad felling from the Xabre days ..
This is a new company and i didnt expect this new card to handle the tests i had chucked at it .
As a gamer, i had to see if this card was worthy of $615. bucks i paid 4 it .
And it was . The only game that wouldnt run was Halo .
I loaded a new patch for it and it still wouldnt run .
1942 ran sweat So did MOH and COD ,RTCW frame rate was of the roof ..
Good F/Rate on NFS under-ground too.
I never read any BechMarks for this card as NONE ever run a game with sound. And to me thats crap .
Run a ATI or Nvida card with sound and it drops in Fps More so then the V8 Duo .
Its a BIG card, So all MicroATX owners beware?? it just might not fit in your case .
Allso this card Sucks alot of power .If u dont have a 400 watt P/box then 4-get-it .and it takes x2 power jumpers .(THAY ARE NOT Suplyed in the box) u will have to buy a 1x2 adaptor .
With the Cost of this GPU card at $615. (Australian)
It seems way to high as other cards out there will run just as well as it for less Dollors.
And XGI had said it would sell its cards cheaper than its rivels ..hmmmmm yet to be sceen .
Do i regret buying this XGI Card ....
HELL NO ...Its the only one here in Australia .
But 4 u out there reading ..DONT buy this CARD wait for the ABIT XGI cards in August 2004 .

My ATI 9600 pro 256m was used as a testing point for comparring fps and Onscreen Qlty .
