Samsung SyncMaster 172X & 173P Review - Explosive Labs
"There is no doubt that utilizing both of these displays has been a great experience. We definitely want to see Samsung step it up once again and try and get a 19" version of the 172X out A.S.A.P with a 12 or 16ms response time."

Samsung SyncMaster 172X & E-Yama 17NE1-S Review - GamePC
"While technically E-Yama did deliver a 14ms panel, leaving out DVI connectivity or 24/32-bit color support are the consolations they were forced to make in order to keep the price low, which hurts image quality all around... The Samsung 172X, on the other hand, we feel is a pretty solid LCD panel. Sporting an LCD panel capable of 12ms pixel refresh rates, the unit handles gaming quite well without ghosting. The monitor also supports 16.2 million colors (almost 32-bit) and has DVI connectivity, so all the big features are there."

Samsung SyncMaster 173P/172X/173T/174T Roundup - X-bit labs
"...Samsung’s debut in the market of gaming LCD monitors turns to be highly successful. On the one hand, the 172X is relatively expensive, but it is worth this money with its compact design, excellent image quality (for this type of the matrix), digital input and compatibility with MagicTune... The SyncMaster 173P, the first monitor without control buttons, is an impressive model, too... The SyncMaster 173T can be viewed as a cheaper alternative to the 173P if you do not need the elegant design of the 173P."

Samsung SyncMaster LCD Roundup - X-bit labs
"...you should consider 172X if you are searching for an office monitor. If you want to buy a SyncMaster 172X for games, I strongly recommend that you check out the matrix type before the purchase... SyncMaster 173VT is undoubtedly an exciting and interesting product with its sensor screen, but I was more interested in its 12msec matrix... SyncMaster 173MP LCD TV-set is highly functional, but is not free from some technical flaws. Once again, you should regard this device as a TV-set, rather than a computer monitor..."

"It's a great monitor, it's just not a gamer's monitor!"
"I am still very impressed with the sharpness and brightness of the Samsung and combined with a theoretical 12ms response time, a small, flexible frame, this monitor is great. Samsung has set yet another high standard for display technologies with the SyncMaster 172X."

"This display performs excellently, allowing for a truly seamless transition from CRT to LCD for those who have been waiting for such a product. You simply can't go wrong with this display..."
"This model is an ideal device for general use; text, internet and graphics, entertainment and soft core gaming. The 'ghosting' affect is visible to heavy gamers but other features of the monitor compensate for a minor downside."

"For regular business use (word processing, browsing the internet, image manipulation) the 172x with its beautiful color is an excellent choice. However when it comes to multimedia applications, the 172x still has the same problems as its predecessors, and most LCD monitors for that matter; minimal ghosting and trailing."
