We were generally more impressed with nVidia's 5700 Ultra card, which looks like it may being the price/performance crown back to nVidia's camp. The 5700 Ultra is certainly a respectable gaming card, and while it’s not as powerful as the 5900-series, it may hit that sweet spot that the mass-markets love." |

| "If you are in the market for a mid-range performance card, maybe as a stop gap between what you have now and what's going to come out next year, 9600XT and 5700 Ultra give this sector of the marker more muscle than it's ever seen. Both are recommended buys, pick either up with confidence... NV38 is more evolution than revolution, being no more than a speed bumped NV35. However it seems to overclock a lot better than the outgoing version, pointing to core enhancements and elimination of hot spots, to give it some headroom." |

| "With equal IQ between the two new boards it's only down to framerate, and at least two thirds of our tests were resounding victories for the 9800XT. That said if you find a 5950 Ultra in your stocking this Chrimbo, or are still inclined towards NVIDIAs product it's not a half bad card, beating everything but the 9800XT - it's just not the quickest." |

Compared to the 5600, the new replacement has it all - a good price, great performance and no compatibility and image distortion units... The GeForce FX 5950 in retrospect is only marginally faster than the 5900 Ultra. As far as cost goes, its introduction price is set at the same price we have seen the 5900 Ultra cards at, which makes it hard for us to really justify the purchase of such a card." |
