THE BAD:

SUMMARY:
my win98 system says that it sees the NEC NR-7500A CD-ROM, when I start up Adaptec 4.01, it says that it can't find a cd-r. no burning for me...

THE GOOD:
Works well under any condition

THE BAD:
DATA CDs created with the NEC NR-7500 are NOT readable on ancient CD-Readers.

SUMMARY:
DATA CDs created with the NEC NR-7500 are NOT readable on ancient CD-Readers, which seem to recognize CD as AUDIO CD. This does not happen with HP 7100i or Matsushita 7585 when tested under similar conditions.

FIRMWARE UPGRADE BADLY NEEDED !!!!!!!! PLS HELP

NEC GUYS !!!!! SUPPORT YOUR USERS!!!!!!!! or go back Home !!

THE GOOD:
This drive is cheap and very fast.
Drive works with Windows 2000 and is supported by lots of software.

THE BAD:
The only bad thing i can think of is that this drive (nor any other NEC that i know of) is supported by CDRWIN. This makes it harder to burn bin/cue format cd images. Nero does support this somewhat, but the support is shotty at best.

SUMMARY:
Great speed, low price, lots of software support (Nero, Easy Cd Creator, NTI CD Maker Pro, etc). Drive works great in Windows 2000. As far as i can tell this is the best 8x drive anyone could buy.

Good performance and cheap price 80$. You need to upgrade to the latest version of your CD burning software. Running great with Nero Burning Rom 5.5, Adaptec CD Creator 4.02d and with Clone CD 3.0 No need for drivers because CD drivers are Plug & Play.
It is quite impossible to find any update firmware and the support from NEC is very bad for this device. Only in NEC Sweden, you can find something.

THE GOOD:
Decent burner and I paid less than 90.00 USD for an OEM.

SUMMARY:
This thing doesnt read my music cd's at all! I've tried and tried but nothing. Windows media player says that its a data cd. Im starting to believe that it may be in need of a firmware update, defective or just poorly designed. According to the VERY limited documentation, its imported from Europe and has no tech support here.
Overall not a bad machine for a second unit.

THE GOOD:
Everything so far.

THE BAD:
Nothing yet.

SUMMARY:
Best 8x burner I have used to date! Just like this website says, it works almist like it has a 8MB buffer instead of a 2MB, it rips CDs FAST, and it has good workmanship... except for thing minor thing. I find that the noise it makes when the tray is coming out, or going back in, makes seem like a real cheap thing. But otherwise, it's GREAT!!
