"MSI comes through again with a well designed graphics card to fill a hard fought spot in the battle for your gaming dollars. With an excellent showing in Call of Duty 4 and Crysis Warhead, the Radeon HD4830 from MSI is definitely worth taking a look at."
"For those that aren't squeamish when it comes to overclocking however, the R4830 is resounding, stand-out sensation. It can sustain performance levels over that of a HD 4850, for a very reasonable price. If you are on a tight budget and want to spend the very requisite amount to get top-end performance, and not a penny more, we can wholly recommend picking up the R4830 and getting to work. For overclockers, this card is a stellar deal. For non-overclockers, the R4830 is still a good purchase. Put together nicely, with a competent cooler that gets the job done and is not that loud, the R4830 has what it takes to suceed in the incredibly jammed-pack world of video cards selling between $100 and $150 dollars -- and this is no small feat. However, if it all comes down to price, and you don't want to overclock, you might be able to get a better deal with a 9800 GT -- but prices change so fast around this time a year, you'll have to keep your eyes peeled for deals, and things could change quick."
"The R4830 posted respectable benchmarks at its factory clocks but it became a monster after a massive overclock. The closest nVidia offering in the R4830s price range, the 9800GT, is easily beaten in nearly every benchmark. With that being said, the MSI R4830s closest competition is its big brother, the 4850.This makes sense considering the two cards share the same GPU and have comparable memory specs. In the end the only feature that can differentiate the R4830 from the 4850 is the number of shaders, which are 640 and 800 respectively. However, a lack of shaders doesn't seem to hold the R4830 back. With idle temperatures in the 30s, cooling was superb as well. I would highly recommend this card to a buyer in the mid-range market. In conclusion, an overclocked R4830 is a cheaper, faster, cooler running version of ATI's 4850. What more could you ask for?"
"For anyone who's looking to do some gaming but can't quite manage the $200 price point of a Radeon HD4850, your videocard has arrived. Add in some overclocking and the MSI R4830 could net you a healthy jump in performance for an increased edge in your favourite games."
"The R4830 overclocked like a champ, even though it already had been overclocked at the factory. The beefed up power supply and effective GPU cooler obviously allowed for plenty of extra headroom for additional overclocking. The overclock was very effective, giving a significant performance boost over the factory clock, and taking the performance numbers even closer to the performance of the HD 4850. I found nothing not to like about this card. I guess the only thing I can think of is that some people might would like a DVI/HDMI adapter included, but keep in mind that this is a budget-priced card and more stuff in the bundle usually means increased price."
