THE GOOD:
External Firewall
Works with Zone Alarm Pro
4 Ethernet ports

THE BAD:
Power cable crapped out on me

SUMMARY:
I've been using this router for a some time now. I've only used it with two computers so it hasn't been stressed before. I like the fact that it acts as an external firewall, and you can control the settings on the router through an internet browser. It works with Zone Alarm Pro to help you with security. There were some problems I had with the router. The power cord was a piece of crap. It would cause the router to stop working until someone came and unpluged and pluged the cord back in. Eventually the cord stopped working all together, so I had to use a cord from my NES. Besides that, I didn't have any other major problems.

Bottom Line:
Once you get a new power cord, this is a great router.

THE GOOD:
Easy to configure, reasonably good documentation, most popular router on the market, Great PPPOE support.

THE BAD:
Updating Firmware can be an adventure. Stability problems after I connected a Linksys WAP to it.

SUMMARY:
I've had the 4-port Linksys router for a year and a half with no problems whatsoever. I have one Windows XP desktop and one Mac OS-9 desktop running off of it, and it is connected to Verizon DSL via PPPOE. I think it went for eight months or more without a restart... which impressed me. If Verizon's service goes down, the router will auto-reconnect.

My only problems started recently, after I added a Linksys 802.11b wireless access point to the router. It was easy to install and configure for WEP encryption, but it has caused some instability issues with the router. A firmware update has helped, but the update crashed mid-way through installation and I was not able to access the router's web interface....

THE GOOD:
almost foolproof

THE BAD:
crappy Powersupply, this is what is the cause of problems with the device and not the unit itself... looks very similar inside and out to the psu on my old GVP hd8+ on one of my old Amigas which also gave the same problems under heavy use... latest bios causes IDENT port to reply as closed by default

SUMMARY:
had the router for 2 years, runs around the clock 24/7 under extremely heavy load 7 machines,(linux & MS based & intel netport express printserver connected to belkin gold series ups`s) some minor issues with dhcp early on but new firmware rectified them, only real problem was the powersupply which caused eratic performance & crashing until it failed tottaly, I chopped the power chord off the dead psu and connected it to pc`s internal psu`s +5v temporarily a year ago and since then its never give any trouble whatsoever so I left it at that, been running constant without powerdown (except for flash...

THE GOOD:
It set up really good. I love the admin interface and it's real easy to update.

THE BAD:
It crashes under load, and 1/2 their tech support is rude and they didn't seem to want to fix my problems.

SUMMARY:
Here is the deal. 3 weeks ago I decided to step away from using a software router and go harware (it's the only way). I am running a small in home office with 7.5 computers in my office, 6 W2K Advanced Servers, 1 W2K Pro, and the half being my G3 mac . I also have 3 more computers in the house running Windows ME (yuck). On this network I am running 3 different web servers (yes different ports), and a Counter-Strike server for fun. When I first got the Router it had had all sorts of problems couldn't flash it kept crashing and so on. After a few phone calls with LinkSys (good phone calls), we determined that the router was bad. So I whent and exchanged it....

THE GOOD:
got everything set up and working in 30 mins

THE BAD:
got a little confused, but that was straightened out

SUMMARY:
this was my first time setting up my home network, and i honestly expected it to be harder. it took more time for me to straighten out the paths for my cables than it took to set up the router. Once the cables were set and plugged in, i got the router up and running in no time. the instructions were rather simple and easy to understand, and that took a whole lot out of my preconceived notions of confusion. can't beat 30 mins, honestly. that's why i give this such a high rating.

THE GOOD:
PPPoe Support
Ease-of-use
DHCP server
Port Forwarding
DMZ Host
Upgradeable Firmware

THE BAD:
Firewall cannot be disabled which may be frusturating, but can be worked around by using a DMZ host.

SUMMARY:
This is overall the best router on the market. It makes having PPPoE seem like a dream than a chore. It is very reliable, being able to stay up for weeks without problems. The firmware is great and upgradeable to include new features. From 1 port all the way to an 8 port solution, this router can quite simply fit anyones budget. The only flaw I saw which has been complained about a lot seems to be the inability to disable the firewall completely. Linksys will probably fix this in a firmware update, but for now, you can use your main computer as a DMZ host, which opens all ports to the internet.

THE GOOD:
simple to install really like the in-line ac adapter, much better then the standard "wort plug", web site is a big plus easy to navigate

THE BAD:
none

SUMMARY:
If u read my review of Netgear's RT-314, u will see how I ended up with this router. This unit was a snap to install and I've not had a problem. It allows me to share my cable modem with only one account, and also allows me to share printers, and files with its built in 4 port hub....I dont think u can go wrong if you want a router-hub for use in the home or a small bussiness enviorment....works great!

THE GOOD:
Great price, very easy to configure, works like a charm, cool case design

THE BAD:
Might have to upgrade Firmware to make use of latest features, Logging could be better

SUMMARY:
This Router is very easy to set up, has a well-designed HTML-based interface, and features a really cool-looking stackable case. The Firewall appears to work very well, and is sufficiently configurable for home or small office use. The "WAN Request Block" is very useful, and the ability to set the device's external MAC address is awesome! (available in latest Firmware Upgrade)

THE GOOD:
The router is easy to setup. Updating firmware is as easy as downloading and running a program.

THE BAD:
I have had the router for about a year now and have had a few problems. One problem I have is running a UT game server. It took a while to get the router setup to run it. In game play, players noticed strange shifts in the graphics. I have a couple of friends that have the same router and they had the same problems. I also have had problems with setting up a FTP server. I was able to before using the Linksys router. The last problem I had was with the router freezing up when I try to download a huge file to fast using download accelerator. I called Linksys support about this and they told me it was a breakdown of the hardware. If the router was less than year old I could have returned it.

SUMMARY:
I would suggest the Linksys router to somebody that just wants to hook up more than one computer to the internet. If you...

THE GOOD:
Easy setup, almost plug and play. Easy access to built in software and firmware upgrades!

THE BAD:
Nothing that I can think of right now...

SUMMARY:
I have been running this router for about a week now with no problems. I have the 1-port version hooked up to a 16-port hub. hooked up to the 16-port hub are 7 computers total with the number rising. The router has easily upgradable firmware and the software setup for it is amazingly easy. Much easier than the software setup for WinGate or the like. You will enjoy the compatibility of it all and the low price. There are routers with more ports, but LinkSys just knows what they are doing. 5/5
