Five Cable/xDSL Routers - Hardcoreware
"To be completely honest with you, you can't really lose with any of these routers. They all did what they were intended to do: share cable or DSL internet access, and provide a firewall. Some go about it in different ways, and some offer different features, but when it comes down to it, they all performed well."

What They Say:

"The switch portion of the device was very fast during all of our usage, but during external Internet access, things were somewhat slower than the D-Link DI-704 we reviewed earlier. As with the other routers, we had to load the non-routable NetBEUI protocol in order to get machines to share data, but that seems to be the norm."

". It is an excellent piece of hardware at a reasonable price. It offers reasonable security, shared access to multiple computers and a very simple setup process. There aren't any major drawbacks to the device, but a CAT-5 cable would be a nice touch. The Linksys router would be a good addition to most broadband setups, particularly if you're looking to share the connection across a network."
"This is a great product. The bottom line is that the value here is just fantastic. The Linksys Etherfast Router offers almost every feature the average user will need and some that he/she won't, all configured with an easy-to-use web interface. Also, it includes a fast Ethernet switch on the back side instead of a hub (or nothing) like some of its competitors. And, although it tested at much lower than it's advertised 10Mbs, the speed is more than sufficient for virtually any currently available consumer-level broadband connection. Linksys has targeted this router towards the SOHO user that wants to have a complete solution at a reasonable price. With a router as feature-rich as the Linksys Etherfast Router, at as low as $175, Linksys has really hit the mark."
"The Linksys Cable/DSL Router is one of a new wave of home broadband connection routers that all of the familiar networking companies have started selling. This device's job in the most basic terms is to share an Internet connection between up to 253 computers. It uses a technology called NAT to allow the inside non-internet routable IP's it assigns to your computers to talk to the Internet with one real outside IP."

"The Linksys device is a simple and cost-effective way to get a home LAN connected to the Internet through a single broadband-enabled connection, and scores an 8 overall."
