"A competitively priced, high quality option for a new, demanding system build."
"The Fractal Design Newton R3 600W is a very solid PSU. The Layout is similar to PSU's in the power range of 800 to 1000W. Since it is only specified for 600W the Layout is rock solid. The quality of the components is good for this power rating. The Fractal Design Newton R3 600W has a very nice Design and also the case is extremly well manufactured. Unfortunately the inside can not keep up with this level of quality. The soldering quality is average and the PCB is not precisely cut. These are not really bad points and don't affect the performance, but from such a high end PSU you could expect also high quality on places you usually don't see."
"To wrap up, the Newton R3 100W is a fine unit with extra-high efficiency throughout its entire load range and ultra-stable DC outputs. Sure, its already high performance could be even higher with lower ripple on the minor rails, but real-life use probably won't stress the minor rails enough for their increased ripple to be worrisome. You should keep in mind that the most important thing in a modern PSU is the +12V rail, and the +12V rail of the Newton R3 is really good."
"To sum up, the Newton R3 800 W delivers great performance, but its stiff price unfortunately cripples its price/performance ratio. It urgently needs a price revision if Fractal Design wants to make it competitive; I strongly believe that it has all the necessary ingredients to accomplish this, though it needs a price closer to 150 bucks. Fractal Design will then hopefully follow my advice, giving this nice PSU a chance to contribute to the high-end category where it belongs; given its nice performance, a more down-to-earth price would also easily allow it to claim a recommendation from me."
"When it comes down to performance the Newton R3 600W did great. Voltage regulation on both the 12V and 5V rails was under 1% and the 3.3v rail was just over 1%. That means you are going to have very stable power delivery to your components. Also this power supply is 80PLUS Platinum certified so you are going to have 92% efficiency at 50% load and 89% efficiency at 100% load."
