"So in conclusion, our advice would be to always upgrade the base system first, if possible. But if for whatever reason this is not possible or convenient, then a GeForce GTX 295 card will deliver fantastic visuals at playable frame rates. And when the time comes to upgrade the remaining system, that 295 card will continue to serve you well."
"The BFG GTX-295 and the GTX-295 series, in general, are the best single card GPU's we've seen to date. The BFG GTX-295 seems to have a slight advantage over the Asus GTX-295. Both the GTX-295's we've tested have performed better than the 4870x2. That's no real surprise though. Nvidia had the advantage of seeing the 4870x2 prior to engineering the GTX-295 and engineered it to outperform the ATI card. We're liking the performance the BFG GTX-295 offers, the simplicity of setup, and the temperatures the GPU maintains under load. If we had to pick one point on the GTX-295 series that we didn't like it would be the cost. Performance wise though, we have to say it's a lot of fun to run the BFG GTX-295."
"Initially when I heard about the GTX 295 I had a little doubt. I'm not a big fan of dual-GPU solutions. You can get confronted with driver issues or games that are unsupported when they are new. That opinion of mine has not changed, I'm a single GPU kinda guy. But I have to admit, the GeForce GTX 295 took me by surprise... I really seem to like it. The performance is astounding, the price is reasonable and any other variable I mentioned in this review is just looking good. Mind you that BFG will also go even more extreme and build water-cooled version of the GTX 295, very interesting. BFG covers your product with a life-time warranty and made the bundle really interesting. If you decide to place 499 smackaroonies on the table for this card... dude, nobody will hold a grudge against you, in fact everybody will be nodding wisely at you. You'd be making a very valid choice."
"Gamers looking for a GTX 285 have a lot of choices to wade through, and it doesn't get any more expensive than BFG's OCX model. It also doesn't get any faster. No matter how you slice it, BFG's GeForce GTX 285 OCX is both the fastest-clocked and fastest-performing GTX 285 on store shelves."
"The GTX 295 is the quintessential dual-GPU monster card: it puts out big numbers, but comes with a steep price tag (roughly $500 USD), and has the usual, almost unavoidable flaw that dual-GPU Nvidia products have: SLI does not automatically work for every game. This last hiccup is somewhat mitigated by the ability of the GTX 295 do devote one GPU solely to PhysX processing. However the big catch is that right now, there is not a huge amount of AAA titles that use PhysX. Whether this will change significantly in the future depends on who you listen to. Let's compare the GTX 295 to the HD 4870 X2. When it comes to performance, the GTX 295 takes the cake. The GTX 295 doesn't kill or maim the HD 4870 X2 in the benches; but it does win, more often than not. When it comes to price, and bang for buck, both of these video cards however, are fairly even. The GTX 295 is going to sell for about $500, and the going rate for the HD 4870 X2 is often about $450. Judging from the performance of these cards, you can expect that they will stay roughly the same price. Compared to the value of single GPU cards, well, it doesn't so much: no one expects the fastest video card you can get to offer great value; they just expect it to be fastest card you can get."
