"The Be Quiet! Shadow Rock TopFlow is stuck between a rock and a hard place. On the one hand its much better than most “Top-Down” coolers yet because it’s so tall its almost pushing into tower heatsink territory. This contradicts the “Top-Down” philosophy which is to save vertical space and it makes the average cooling performance unacceptable because it doesn’t have those large height savings to compensate."
"Look no further than the Be Quiet! Shadow Rock TopFlow if you need an extremely quiet, compact cooler."
"High quality products rarely come cheap and so the be quiet! Shadow Rock TopFlow SR1 CPU Cooler currently retails for USD76 inside the USA (Amazon Marketplace) and at 42.90Euros inside the EU (Caseking). Certainly the price is not particularly low for a low-profile CPU cooler especially in the USA (currently at least) but for that price you are getting one of the top 3 low-profile CPU Coolers we've ever tested and the most quiet one at that. The only drawback is that the Shadow Rock TopFlow SR1 is not very small and so it may not fit in tiny PC cases like for example the Noctua NH-L9 and the Thermalright AXP-100 but we can't have it all. Good performance, low height and almost inaudible are the three features of the Shadow Rock TopFlow SR1 that won it our Golden Award."
"If you're looking for a well built CPU cooler, which looks nice and isn't too big, then you're not doing anything wrong when you go for the Shadow Rock from BeQuiet!"
"So it looks like the strengths of the Shadow Rock TopFlow are just where they need to be. If the spec was to design a cooler that was able to hold a mild overclock, that looked nice and simple with high levels of quality but overall must be as quiet as possible then be quiet have succeeded. Just a shame they don't seem to have invited the chap who designs the mounting mechanism to the project board meetings!"
