Boston Acoustics BA735 User ReviewsPC
Best feature: only cost $10 (refurb) on eBay plus $5 cable. Sound as good as cubicle politics will allow. The bad:
Digital input ONLY. Getting sound card and driver set up can be difficult.Summary:
BA735 digital speakers were castoffs from a Gateway PC, and my SoundBlaster Live! CT4780 was also an OEM Gateway castoff part. I put them in a Dell running Windows 2000 pro and hooked them up with a suitable cable. No sound came forth.
I downloaded the latest driver package from Creative Labs (LiveDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe) which gave me a nifty surround sound mixer and EAX environment package, and also an option for DIGITAL OUTPUT ONLY. With this box checked, analog sound output stopped, but still no digital output began.
My OEM SoundBlaster is different from the common Live! 5.1 in that it has n...
I've been using the BA735's for over three years on my PC, and recently transfered them to my eMac. It's cool, because new Macs work with pretty much anything. These speakers deliver ass-kicking bass and crisp highs. The bad:
No bad things to be seen here!Summary:
Overall, great speakers. All I had to do was plug them into the headphone jack on my eMac, and they started singing. Get a Mac and you won't have anymore compatability issues!
Didn't burst into flamesThe bad:
They don't work at all. Not at all.Summary:
If you buy these, you're a sucker. Good luck getting support - you may find a driver to work with your machine, but you'd be in the minority. Do yourself a favor and buy a pair of non-discount bargain bin speakers like these. They stink. It's true that they are not worth the plastic it took to make them.
The sound is pretty good, and the volume that can be put out is good(for their small size) also. The bad:
They are Digital, so that the drivers are hard to come by. Also, they have a bad habit of just stop working. I have no idea why.Summary:
It seems every month they just quit for no reason. I try to reinstall the drivers and ..... One day I will just buy some regular speakers.
No need to buy any other.Summary:
It's so simple to get these working and they do work with XP 'cause I have it. All you have to do is go to the Advanced Properties in the Play Control box and check "One Digital Output Only" and listen to these kick the bass. That's it. I've had these for over three years and they have given me nothing but great sound. In fact, my brother said his stereo system doesn't sound this good.
Great soundThe bad:
Have to use the software to control the speakersSummary:
the usb boston ba735 do work on xp and they work wonderfully. I am running xp at the moment on an ibm clone computer. i plugged the usb bostons into the usb port and xp automatically installed them using the drivers that are digitally checked. the installation completed without a hitch, except i could not get any sound out of the damn speakers. so i went to bostonacoustics website and downloaded the win98 version for the speakers and then the winme version just in case. Well i couldn't get the win98 version to install, so i installed the windows millennium version it installed and gave m...
