"As far performance goes ... it's one of the fastest desktop processor I've tested to date. It's broken all our performance records with blistering speeds. I'm falling in love with this processor. Seriously. For overclocking, I was able to overclock to 3.15Ghz, by taking the HTT to 350Mhz and lowering the multiplier to x9. It's not a massive overclock, but it was good enough on the HTT."
"It's obviously is a fantastic CPU and even more apparent the fastest available to date. I was surprised that we could easily tweak another 350-400 MHz out of the CPU with just air-cooling. Hey it's done in seconds with the 590 mainboard (high frequency memory highly recommended here btw)... So laying down a grand in the PC shop for the FX-62 seems something you really need to think about when using a 590 mainboard... On another note, I believe that AMD is making the right choice to go for DDR2 support."
"We were very disappointed with the overclocking capability of this CPU. Even though we could set it up running internally at 3 GHz by increasing its clock multiplier from 14x to 15x as it has its clock multiplier unlocked we werent able to configure its base clock over 218 MHz, a result worse than Athlon 64 X2 5000+s. Funny enough that is the exact same value we could achieve with our Athlon 64 FX-60. Being a very expensive CPU targeted to the enthusiast market (i.e. overclockers), we expected more from it."
"...though AM2 processors offer little incentive over their equivalent spec Socket-939 counterparts, there's also no reason to hold back on the old DDR technology when the industry is moving otherwise. After all, the benchmarks have shown that you would get equivalent performance at minimum and it costs a little less as well. While we are still content of the Athlon 64 FX-62 and X2 5000+ processors and come highly recommended for what they offer, their appeal diminishes in an apple-to-apple comparison, which AMD fortunately didn't have to face. Perhaps the true star of the AM2 platform is NVIDIA's nForce 500 series where multiple enhancements have increased their chipset appeal level higher than ever, thus boosting the AMD platform up another notch."
"The FX-62 is not a cheap processor, but it does what it claims to do - deliver high performance - well. Recommended."
