Accton AC-IAG1004 Internet Gateway Router review
Good and cheap but bad documentation
Low cost, slim and small. Small footprint compared to Linksys. The bad:
Documentation as good as Windows handbook.Summary:
I got this because a friend got this and it worked okay. It was cheaper than most other internet gateways so I thought I'd give it a try.
First bomb - When trying to talk to it, it said something to the effect of, 'I can't run. I need something.' I couldn't figure out what was going on. The quick installation manual didn't say a thing about it. There was no full installation manual as opposed to the quick installation manual. I thought it may be a firmware issue cause there was a little box and beside it a browse button. I searched for an hour and found the driver hoping that it'll work and thank goodness it did.
Second bomb - a month into using it normally, it suddenly couldn't connect to the internet. I had to reinstall the firmware again! Took me half a day to figure this out. I hate manuals that say - Button A is for this. Button B is for that... and nothing else. Goodluck to you if you press that button.
