Roundups and Shootouts

Thermaltake Memory Cooling Kit (A1092) Roundup - Casejunkiez.com
"Whether you can gain any real performance increase using the heat spreaders is uncertain and if you do, I doubt it would be that much anyway, but cooling your RAM will ease the pressure when you crank the hell out of your system and should extend the RAM's life."

What They Say:

"It is low-cost, fun, and easy to install. Will it dramatically increase performance and stability? Not likely, unless you are doing some serious overclocking or have a really stuffy case, and even then, it may not make a big difference."
"I tested the memory's stability on our Abit KT7A-RAID, using the SiSoft Sandra Burn-in routine, selecting only the memory test. I chose the KT7A since this was the board I had originally tested the memory on, which gives me a constant for testing."
"The Thermal tape included with the product was very strong: after running my computer for a few hours the tape had bonded so strongly that I couldn't pull off the heat dissipater to try out the ramsinks. If you're the kind of person who isn't confident about attaching something permanent to your computer's components beware,"
"After running my system for almost 2 days the temps in my case are the same as they were before the this upgrade. I know they are doing something because my ram is now cool to the touch. However, this is not the kit for you if you are looking for major system cooling."

"In this test we tried out the memory with the heatspreader on one side and the finned heatsinks on the opposite side. It was a bit difficult to get an accurate temperature reading during this second test since each memory chip, on each side of the PCB was generating heat."
