Klipsch Pro Media v.2-400 review
Worth every penny. A good way to damage your ears!
Wow, these things can get loud easily, and the bass is wonderful. The bad:
No headphone jack, crackle while switching volumes at times, no power switchSummary:
Wow, is pretty much all I can say. I read somewhere that you shouldn't listen to these things if you're not going to buy them. It's true.
I happened to pass by a set in the local Best Buy, and thought, "Oh, let's just give them a listen." Phew. Was that a mistake. As soon as I did that, I had to had the speakers. They sounded that much better than my current ones.
I guess I have to say that these things sound significantly better than my junky 4.1 Labtec setup, which is my base reference. They have cleaner sound, have less distortion at ANY volume, better bass (my neighbour loves me now), and simply sound better than most of the speaker setups that I've heard. Simply put, that is the strength of the system. Good sound. High and low frequencies are just wonderful, though middle frequencies aren't quite as good - for me, that's not too much of a big deal, as the music I listen to tends to fit with either a lot of bass, or treble, and not too much of the middle frequencies. DVD movies aren't anything to complain about, either. What I DO want to complain about is the lack of a headphone jack (which is rectified with a splitter and a headphone cable, I guess) and a power switch. These speakers won't turn off, and though they say something about a power saving mode, I don't know if it turns on (they say it turns on when there isn't any signal going to the speakers), and the odd sound card pop with the computer turning on and off worries me a little more, after all - they could damage my speakers!
