THE GOOD:
400 watts of power is just insane.
Sweet sweet sound, beats any other competitor.
Price can't be beat!

THE BAD:
NONE (We'll maybe the chiropractor bills after carrying the box up 2 flights of stairs, it's a monster weighing in at 50lbs)

SUMMARY:
I'd take these speakers over almost any of the newest 5.1 speaker systems that are out there today. You just can't find a better set of speakers. The bass is unbelievable. The satellites work perfectly, great treble and crisp sound. Those complaining about no treble control on the Controller Unit, try using the treble control on your computer, not that hard and no biggy. Also those people that think the sound quality is poor when turned way up, especially with the bass. I suggest you get a new sound card, one that is THX certified, like the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS series. The problem is people are buying these speakers when they have a lowly 16-bit sound blaster live card, or even built in speakers, which is just plain stupid. You wont get the full potential out of these sweet speakers unless you have the card to actually use them to their fullest potential.

PC  Logitch Z560 - loud but not accurate 2.2

THE GOOD:
Produces high sound levels. Fader on control unit. Price!

THE BAD:
Huge bass spike at 80hz. Little output below 40hz. Big hole in lower midrange. Constrained highs.

SUMMARY:
Product has been owned/used for 2 years. Decent system for gaming and casual sound reproduction but falls way short for music. Vented, powered sub has huge frequency bump around 80hz despite room location, and almost no output below 40hz. Even EQ'ing the snot out of the bass won't remove all of the bump. Plugging the port helps some.

Logitech set the hi-pass crossover to the satellites too high. As a result there's a big drop in lower midrange output. I use 2 of the 4 satellites for surround and replaced the front speakers with a pair of Infinity bookshelf models which made a significant improvement but the overall performance still not good enough.

The amplifier unit is not mod friendly, or I'd fix the crossover.

May end up using the sub/amp & control unit with a power inverter in the car.

Purchased 2003. Price paid $150 new inc. shipping.

THE GOOD:
Without a doubt this is one of the best speaker system in the market for the money. When every thing is in working order you will have a great sounding system.

THE BAD:
Unfortunatelly this is my second set that becomes absolete after a couple of years. There are no replaceble parts that you could purchase from Logitech once the warranty is over. I have tried my very best to purchase a center contoll unit to no avail. Logitech simply does not sell them. In my case I am stuck with a defective center controller unit.
My four satellites and subwoofer work perfectly, but I can not use them because my center controller unit does not work.

If there is any soul out there that has one available I will gladly purchase it from you.

My email is trialortiz@verizon.net

Thank you....

THE GOOD:
The price, quality, function and the large number of good reviews made this an easy choice when looking for my first set of surround-sound speakers about a year ago when I purchased them.

THE BAD:
Nothing bad here...

SUMMARY:
The fact that Logitech would replace dead speakers for free and of those who really push these speakers to the limits (like I do) without any problems and have had them for over a year gave me good reason to take that chance, even knowing they could blow-up at anytime.

PC  Great, cheap speakers 4.0

THE GOOD:
Capable of very high, distortion-free volumes
Strong, deep bass
Integrated headphone passthrough
Aesthetically pleasing
Inexpensive ($150)

THE BAD:
Cords are too short
Control pod is low quality
Subwoofer rattles when certain sounds are played
Fade is just a rear volume control
M3D is ineffective
Subwoofer gives out a quiet hum when powered
High range is lacking

SUMMARY:
I love these speakers! I've had them for two months, and I couldn't be happier. They are LOUD, and the woofer can wake the neighbors if I'm not careful.

However, there are some problems. When I first installed them, I learned that the cords for the rear satellites are far too long and the cords for the front satellites are too short. I was able to cut the rear cords and add them to the front cords, so that wasn't a really big problem. However, the cords from the control pod to the woofer (they can't be lengthened) are also too short, so I must place the control pod within a few feet of the woofer.

The control pod is also very low quality. I dropped it once, and the volume control has been bent ever since--there is significantly more friction when turning it when it's set to low volumes. The 'fade' control really isn't a fade; it's just a rear volume control. The highest volume makes the rear speakers just equal in volume to the front speakers. Because the rear speakers are much farther away from me than the front speakers, they are quite a bit quieter. Also, the M3D is largely useless. It would have been much better to simply include a Stereo mirroring button for the rear speakers.

The subwoofer also rattles when certain bass notes are played, but that's not really a major problem. But what IS annoying is the hum the subwoofer emits. Because my computer and speakers are in my room, I have to turn off the speakers every night (by flipping the switch on the back of the subwoofer) and turn them on again the next day.

Despite the many problems, none of them are really big things, and they don't detract from the quality or low price of these speakers. I got them for $150 off the internet, and I never regretted my purchase. If you are in the market for a good set of surround speakers for a great price I would definitely recommend these.

THE GOOD:
the sound is awesome, usable response from 30hz at -6db, huge power handling on satellites, cheap

THE BAD:
rare fuse

SUMMARY:
First off, there are a few things that need to be cleared up. A few supposed 'audiophiles' have tried to make it known that when they broke open the sub to challenge Logitechs huge 400w power claims they saw the usual marking on the sub magnet turned out to state 100w; its reputed listed power being 188w, what was the deal?
You'll notice the power rating was on the subwoofer basket, and not on the amplifier. Ratings that you find on speaker backings are called "recommended power inputs" as in a level that the speaker handles comfortably for long periods of time. IT IS NOT AN AMPLIFIER RATING. If you were to power the logitechs through a separate (or additional) amplifier with a high ceiling, you would find that the subwoofer can be run at twice the reccomended level (200w)without extremely hieghtened levels of THD (total harmonic distortion) if the power is clean enough

PC  Great Sound For Ya PC! But A Question!!!! 4.5

THE GOOD:
Clear sound, excellent bass, can handle high volumes well, attractive looking.

THE BAD:
Hmmmm, no treble control on the controller (no biggie), and a remote would have been nice.

SUMMARY:
Ok, its the year 2003 and I'm probabaly a little late when buying these speakers as most of the reviews had been written alot earlier in the year 2002. Ahh well yes I decided to pick me up a set of Z-560. In New Zealand, the price is far from what everybody else may pay. I paid $550 for my set of Z-560, though obviously currency is different everywhere, so with this sort of money I was expecting to be greeted with a good PC system. In genereal perspective, I was happy with my purchase. Before owning the Z-560 I had Creative 5300 5.1. Obviously we cannot compare these 2 systems, but lets just say it was big jump from the 2 sets!
My main question is: Why does Logitech claim 400 Watts, with 188 Watts to the Subwoofer and 53 Watts to the Satelites, when Im reading reviews where they have opened each component and was greeted with other figures such as 100 Watts to the Subwoofer and only 15 Watts to the Satelites! Ok if ya did the math, this is not equivilent to 400 Watts! Im not a speaker expert so I'm hoping someone maybe able to clarify this with me.
But gerenally they are geat speakers. In a sense I dont really care if they are they trully 400 Watts, as I hardly ever blitz past half way on the volume dial! Anyhow great speakers, I recommend them!

THE GOOD:
*$199 when I got them and I think they are now $149 at Best Buy.
*THX need I say more

THE BAD:
*Only 4 speakers + Sub
*No remote

SUMMARY:
When was the last time you saw THX certified speakers at this price. These speakers blow away anything in it's price range as well as a lot of higher priced speakers. Need great sound at a good price then go get these. I can't wait tell the summer time so I can open the front door and bug the whole block.

PC  THESE SPEAKERS SUCK!!! 3.0

THE GOOD:
Sounded food for less than an hour.

THE BAD:
Sub died.

SUMMARY:
Ok, here is my story. I have a cousin that works at Best Buy, so I went with him to buy some speakers with his employee discount. I am shopping around and I decide I want the Z-560's. He runs a price check for me. The speakers are $199 and he told me I could get them for $145. So I say, "*bleep* it" I get them, pay for them, and take them home. As I am opening the package and looking at all the goodies, a friend realizes that one of the satelites is a little scratched, and the plastic cover is cracked. So at this point I am already a little pissed. I pack everything up and barely make it back to the store to return them. So, I walk into the store to return them and the LP guy (loss prevention) that works there asks me, "Yo man, how much you pay for them speakers?" I gladly reply, "Well, ___ ___ works LP with you, he is my cousin, he got them for me at employee price, I paid a total of 155 (w/ 2 yr. warranty). Then he tells me, "Well, I won a set just like that from here in the store (probably bullshit) you wanna buy them, they are brand new in the box. I never used them" So I tell em I will be right back and I walk to the customer service dept. I return the speakers and get my money. On the way out the LP guy at the door asks me for my cell phone number, that he would call me when he gets out of work so we can make the deal. I give him my number and I ask him where he lives. The guy ended up living about 8 blocks away from my house. So I go home with a smile from ear to ear cuz of the deal I just made. The guy was gonna let me have them for $100. He calls me, I goto his house, he even lets me inside and I buy the speakers. I hook them up and blast them for about 1 hour before I goto bed. The next day I get home from work, sit on my system, play music for about 15 minutes and sub dies. So I try and find some info online and I find this place. Now I know the fuse is inside, its not a 4A 250V Slow-Blow as stated in another post and that the sub has died on several people. I am one of the most pissed of people in the world right now and I recommend you do NOT buy these peices of shit. Now I am *bleep*ed, no warranty, with some stolen, broken speakers. Spend more money, its worth it in the long run. Save money, sell drugs, or sell yourself, but buy better speakers. Please.
