Retry Failed Enchants
When you try to enchant first return to the title screen to create a auto save and then reload the file. Now if your item does break return to the game libary via the xbox guide button and reload. Repeat until you get the enchant you need.

Keep The Ember Gem And Complete The Quest
Talk to the miner that asks you to find a random ember gem (i.e. cracked skull or perfect core ember). Go find one and then return to torchlight. Put the gem in your shared stash (DO NOT COMBINE IT YET and DO NOT GET RID OF IT YET).
Now talk to the miner and complete the quest. Return to the stash and the gem will still be there.
