An easy way to escape the lawmen when they're chasing you is to shoot their horses. It won't raise your bounty as much and it gets rid of them (if you have a horse). It's impossible for them to catch up, so all you have to do is ride a short distance away and just wait for the meter to disappear.

If you are having trouble winning the HorseShoe Mini-game,
i have found the following guidlines to help you tip the odds in your favor

1. when it is your turn , use the Zoom button to get a close up of the post, then move your aim stick to move left or right to line up the cross-hair in between the horseshoe in your hand. if you are standing on the right side, you want your crosshair a little bit to the right of the center...and if you are on the left side, you want it just to the left of center. Release the zoom..

2. pull back on the swing until you reach the bottom of the meter and when you push forward, hit the "release" button just right before the first marker on the meter...if you do it correctly, it will "show" releasing on the center marker, and your horseshoe should land on the post or very near to touching it...

Leveling up in Read Dead Redemption is no easy task; it requires a ton of time and patience. However, knowing when and where (along with a well invested amount of time), you can level up quicker without actually having to boost/hack/etc.

The easiest method of leveling up (that I've found, anyway) is to alternate between Twin Rocks and Pike's Basin. Obviously Triple Experience and Quadruple experience weekends make this a MUCH MUCH MUCH easier way of leveling up. However, non-exp weekends also supply a good amount of experience.

I usually start off in Twin Rocks. The experience is very little, but you're able to complete it very hastily as it's layout is pretty easy to understand/complete. Having a friend or two to assist you in this method of leveling up always helps, as they can help finish the gang hide-out. They may steal a point or two from you, but in the long term, time is all that matters. The more times you can complete the hide-out, the more experience you'll get. Having an extra gun really comes in handy.

Complete Twin Rocks as much as you can until you get bored. Then, head on over to Pike's Basin. Fortunately, this ride isn't very long at all, and you can almost immediately start racking experience up again. Once in Pike's Basin, alternate the boxes with your friends (or, alternatively, take the boxes for yourself) until you finish the round. Restart the hide-out and do everything over again.

Rinse and repeat until you're utterly bored and wait to try again another day.

So you either can't or choose not to connect to your console's online service, but you still want to explore the Redemption world in Free Roam. To accomplish this, load up a single player save, and when you're able to pause, do so and under the Multiplayer tab, choose System Link. Now you'll be sent into a Free Roam session alone, and you're able to do anything in Free Roam you would otherwise do on XBL/PSN(gang hideouts, hunting grounds, exploring, challenges, fighting lawmen, etc) without having to go online.

In Blackwater, there is a stranger located in the church (Should be a woman). Her task requires you to go and confront her husband to support her and her child. Instead of giving you the money he'll challenge you to a duel, but you can tie him up and take him outside of town. Kill him however you please, he should drop $200. Once you return to place you first met him, he will have re-spawned there, still wanting a duel. You can do this as many times as you like.

While online, killing mounted enemies can be a daunting task - especially if they're other online players. However, doing one simple tactic can make this much, much easier for you. Instead of aiming at the player, try aiming at the horse! Killing the horse compels the user to plunge into the ground and causes him to be unmovable until he gets up - several seconds later. Next time you encounter a mounted player, try shooting out his horse and then taking him on!

That said, the same thing can be done to you. Next time you're on your horse, be careful.

Travel to the bridge called "Frontera Bridge." Ride your horse quickly to the end of the bridge and get off the horse, letting it plummet into the water below. Do not call a new horse. Walk backwards until the railroad tracks start running into solid ground (for a short distance), turn left and go down a steep slope to the riverbank. There should be many small bushes by the river here. The music should also switch (it switches to the music you hear in Mexico). If you don't hear the music, start over. Set up a campsite when you hear the music and you will find yourself on the Mexican side of the river. To get back, you have to travel to the bridge called "Romita de la Baya." Do the same thing with the horse here, let it fall into the river and set up a campsite on the island. The campsite should be near the edge of the island to the north, either to the left or the right of the bridge. You can also listen to the music here, when you hear the music change back to the "American" music, you can set up your camp and you will be back on the north side of the river.

Next to the Town Hall in Blackwater, you are able to glitch inside of a building. This building has a large, red double - door in the front and two large, pointy bushes to either side of the stairs running up to the door (these bushes look more like trees).

To get inside, you can do either of the following:

1) Run around the side of the building and shoot out a window. Make sure to shoot it out completely, so that it breaks off. You are then able to climb into the building, despite the front door being locked. If you slowly walk up to the door (making sure not to actually walk outside! If you do, you have to get back in because the door shuts) you can open it whilst still remaining inside. Police officers are still able to shoot you, but this building makes a great spot to camp and collect a huge bounty. It's also great for tricking other online members!

2) Go right up next to one of those large, pointy bushes I was talking about and slide against the wall. You should be able to squeeze in between the bush and the side of the stairway. Crouch and then move side to side as fast as you can. You should be able to go through the wall and either: launch yourself under the building and be able to get onto the second flooring, launch yourself into the first floor which option 1 gets you to, or launch yourself on top of the building. The second floor makes for a good exploration as most of the walls are invisible, but you aren't actually able to shoot out of them. The top of the building, however, is great for racking up a huge bounty and completing challenges!

Go the the Nightwatch challenge building in Chuparosa, on the right of the Nightwatch challenge is a another building. Go to the second floor and run around till you reach a door on the front side of the building. You will need "FireBottles" to be able to do this. Align yourself so that you are directly in front of the door and then toss your FireBottle at the door. You will be pulled into the building and fall straight to the first floor. From there you will be able to shoot anyone outside the building, and get your Bounty up. Warning! You are able to take damage from other players on multiplayer so keep that in mind. This glitch is great for completing challenges on multiplayer, and confusing those that don't know the glitch yet !

Go to macfarlanes ranch then go to the foremans office, go round to the side where there is a big pile of wood, press RB lots of times and you will keep taking cover and eventually you will get launched into the air aim your gun and you will go very very high into the air.

Occasionally, during online play, you'll notice that NPC's, non playable characters, can get stuck into walls/mountains/other surfaces. The following areas are common areas for this occurrence:

1. In Pike's Basin, the gang members usually end up getting stuck into the sides of the mountain.

2. In Twin Rocks, gang members usually get stuck in the wall of the middle building.

Obviously this may happen elsewhere, but these are the most frequent (during my game play, anyway). To avoid this, you can throw a dynamite at the general area of the gang member. Sometimes, body parts can be visible, too, and can be shot. If all else fails, you're compelled to wait it out, I'm afraid. Sometimes they'll sneak out themselves, but on rare occasions, you have to restart the hideout entirely.

then find a kentucky saddler horse either steal from a person or spawn it using the spawn horse cheat or take a hitched one that doesnt have riding gear on find a hitching post then hitch it and it will be yours whenever you whistle for it until it dies or get another horse/mule.

When you find a phrase carved on a wall for example in a barn or other building enter it and it will be a cheat.

If you check at the misc section of the newspaper you will see a phrase at the end of every edition. Enter it and it will be a cheat.
