Talk to the priest that saves the game and ask to give a donation. If you have less than 100 coins he will give you 10 coins until you reach 100 coins. After this happens, deposit the coins, return and repeat as needed. Note: If you try to have the priest give you more than 100 coins he will take them as a donation.
The Empire Sword is a powerful weapon for Ryu, which can only be found in a certain area (as far as I know). Just east of Township, there's a fishing spot which you can only get to by flying on the Great Bird. It's located near the mountain range there. Land there, and walk around and fight some enemies until you see the fish pop out of the water.
At this fishing spot, there is a treasure chest sitting at the bottom of the ocean. Make sure you're equipped with the Deluxe Rod and a few Gold lures, and then cast and reel in the chest. Inside the chest is the almighty Empire Sword, which is actually stronger than the Dragon Sword!
kill a grizzly bear (easy) and you get loads of experience
To earn a lot of money at the start of the game, just go hunting with Bow in the lead. Shoot all the animals to obtain as many Roasts as you want. Then go sell all the Roasts at a nearby shop to earn some nice cash. Selling one Roast alone will earn you 200 zenny!
At any point after the house for Sana (the old lady who provides shaman fusion services at TownShip) is completed, return to the northeastern house where the carpenter lives with a stock of at least eight you can acquire anywhere. The carpenter will offer to combine the herbs to produce a variety of healing items which can be sold as a profit:
2 x Herbs = 1 HelpBL
4 x Herbs = 1 Elixir
4 x HelpBL = 1 LifePL
2 x Elixir = 1 LifePL
The idea is to keep using the Herbs to produce items which can then be used to create the LifePL items which sell for 250gp each. This is a nice profit from the 8gp you pay for each Herb.
The StarBringer Sword (StarrSD) can be found by standing on a blue "chance" square in the Thieves' Tomb and fighting repeatedly.
Once you have access to world map transport via whale or flying bird, search for Giant Island located north of the town Gate on the world map. There you'll find a house with two characters you may recognize from the first game! Note that they offer little other than conversation.
