Persona 2: Eternal Punishment Cheats & Tips

After your first visit to Aoba Park, you'll have to spread a rumor about a person you'll meet at Parabellum. If in the rumor you say it's a man, you'll get Nate in your party, but if you say it's a woman, you'll get Ellen in your party.

Both Nate and Ellen will have different dungeons; with Nate you'll go to the Sewers and the Science Laboratory. While with Ellen you'll go to Sumaru TV.

Nate joins your party equipped with the HIEROPHANT class Aizen-myouou Persona, while Ellen with the JUDGEMENT class Nike Persona.

If you choose Nate, you'll be able to obtain the materials needed to summon the DEVIL class persona Lucifer. If you choose Ellen, you'll be able to summon the JUDGEMENT class persona Satan.

In a new game plus, if you choose a different route than the one you chose in the past game, you'll be able to buy the material cards for both Lucifer and Satan and Mu Continent. But only if you chose a different path.

If you want to "rank up" a Persona faster than usual, there are two methods:

1)If the Persona you want to get to rank 8 (the max rank) has a healing spell, simply go to a dungeon where the enemies can't kill you, and use the healing spell over and over on you, since everytime you cast the spell you use the Persona, you'll be increasing its rank. This can also be done, with another kind of spell besides healing, but it must NOT damage the enemy, so you can keep casting it. (A good place to do this is at the entrance of Kasu High School, there are weak demons there)

2)The other way, is trough mutation, one of the possible awards for mutation is that the Persona's rank raises 2 levels, so you can keep ending battles with fusion spells until you get that award.

Healing spells and support spells also have the extra benefit of giving double the "points" needed for ranking up a persona.

In the detective office there is a cat statue in which you can donate money, if you donate 100000 Yen you'll gain access to the Rumormonger Nekomata.

Also in the police station there is a dog statue, if you donate 10000 Yen you'll receive the material Hihiirokane.

Joker Noriko is a tough boss fight, but we some preparations, she can be defeated.

ANY Persona with "Wall of water" already learned is a must, it doesn't matter which Persona is, but you need one, by casting this spell you'll be immune to Noriko's powerful water spell.
You'll also need a decent attack power, better if it is fire elemental, so having two Personae with fire spell (so that they can use fire fusion spells) will help you to take out Noriko.

At the start of the battle take out the two Ryuman enemies with any powerful fusion spells you have.
Then start hitting Noriko with fire fusion spells, while other character casts "Wall of water" and the last one heals if necessary.

Maia Custom is a somewhat "secret" persona. After defeating the boss in the "GOLD" gymnasium, you will be prompted two different choices in a dialogue after the battle, choose the second option.

Now, with Maia equipped, end all battles by using a fusion spell until Maia mutates and learns the "Modification Ability". Now go to the Velvet Room and Igo will mutate Maia into Maia Custom.

Maihime Amano, Junnosuke Kuroda & Tatsunoshin Suou are 3 hidden personae that can be unlocked by following these steps:

1)Donate 10000 Yen to the donation box at Mt. Mifune.

2)After getting either Nate or Ellen in your party, talk with Maya's boss at Kismet Publishing. When she asks you a question, answer "no".

3)After completing the Torifune dungeon, go back to Kismet Publishing, and talk to Kashihara (Jun's father). He'll tell you a rumor about Tatsunoshin. Go to the detective office and spread it.

4)Go to the Shiraishi bar and do the man-searching job for Setsu Nishitani. She's the old woman who stands in front of the Araya Shrine. After getting your reward, talk to Setsu Nishitani again, and she'll tell you a rumor about Maihime Amano. Go to the detective office and spread this rumor.

5)At Sumaru Castle, you'll find shrines for Maihime and Tatsunoshin on the 3rd and 7th floors, respectively. Visit these shrines, and you'll be able to summon the Maihime and Tatsunoshin personae in the Velvet Room. If you did the donation at Mt. Mifune, you'll be able to summon Junnosuke too.

The summoning price for Maihime Amano is 216 MOON cards, for Junnosuke Kuroda 174 SUN cards and for Tatsunoshin Suou 4 FOOL cards.

The Old Maid is a notable spell of all Joker bosses, and it is very annoying. this spell can have the Joker Persona possess a character and have it attack your party members with big damage, possibly killing them.
So, how do you prevent this from happening? It's simply, once the joker boss cast Old Maid to your party, cancel all actions (circle button) and make EVERYONE defend for one turn each. Once everybody defended, cancel all actions again, and you'll see that in the "command" menu, the character that was possessed by the spell will have the "Attack" action on instead of defend. This shows it's safe to keep fighting again.

Maya is highly compatible with the following classes: MAGICIAN HERMIT TEMPERANCE MOON FOOL ROD PENTACLE

Ulala is highly compatible with the following classes: PRIESTESS LOVERS STAR FOOL SWORD PENTACLE

Ellen is highly compatible with the following classes: EMPRESS FORTUNE TEMPERANCE JUDGEMENT FOOL ROD PENTACLE

Nate is highly compatible with the following classes: EMPEROR HIEROPHANT FOOL CUP SWORD

Baofu is highly compatible with the following classes: CHARIOT HANGEDMAN DEATH DEVIL FOOL ROD CUP

Katsuya is highly compatible with the following classes: STRENGTH JUSTICE WORLD FOOL CUP SWORD

Tatsuya is highly compatible with the following classes: SUN WORLD FOOL CUP SWORD


As you can see everybody is highly compatible with Personae from the FOOL class. Having a character equipped with a highly compatible Persona will allow them to increase the chances of a mutation to happen when you end a battle using a fusion spell and the SP cost of spells will be lowered once you equip it on a highly compatible character.

Any personae in the game is able to mutate when you end a battle by using any fusion spell as the last attack. By doing so its parameters will increase, its rank will increase 2 levels, it will learn a hidden spell or it will get the Modification Ability, which will allow it to morph into another Persona (Not all personae have the Modification Ability)
So, it is a good idea to always try to end up all battles by using a fusion spell, because the mutation is random it won't occur all time, but the more you try it, the more likely it will happen. Also, keep in mind that the more compatible the Persona is with its user the more chances are for the mutation to happen.

Every time Maya levels up, you'll be given 3 stats points to increase the stats you want. I strongly advise you to focus on TEC and user as a magic user (both offensive and defensive), besides TEC, also increase her AGL and VIT from time to time, and lastly LUC helps too. Don't increase her physical strength, if you want a physical attacker use Katsuya instead.
