In HAWX team deathmatches you have the option to have deflectors on your plane. These will keep enemy missiles that are heading for your teammates away, by redirecting them towards your plane instead. It looks clumsy on first sight but when done right it can become the most powerful weapon in the arsenal.

To make use of this weapon you need to know a few things:
- Your opponents often aims for damaged planes, aces, & matchleaders try to aim on those to keep the opponents busy.
- Only deflect missiles when they are drawing close to your teammate or else they will have enough fuel to reach and hit you.
- Watch out when deflecting missiles from enemies that are coming directly at you, the missiles will easily hit you so either evade or pop flares after making a turn.


when done correct this defensive weapon is the key to victory and alot of XP, try to use it.

In Assistance Off mode, you can have alot more control over the aircraft. It also allows for a technique called drifting, where you cut power to your engines at the right moment, spinning and dodging out of the way of enemies and missiles. To do this, you need to turn and brake at the same time. Don't brake for too long though, or you'll stall

Most people who have been online with HAWX have seen them, they lock on to targets at a distance of 10,000 and never miss whatever tricks you pull to evade it.

When you notice that you are being followed by one of these radar guided missiles switch to assistance offmode (double tap R2 or L2) and select the opponent who fired that missile as your target, you should see a red arrow coming towards you, wait for it to draw near and then pop a flare when it's getting close, it will then be evaded.

Just do know that you must have flares or else you'll be hit unless you manage to get outside of the opponent's aiming circle which is difficult in most cases.
