If you are in a best trick competition where it only has a single rail that everyone tricks down, then you can stand right at the bottom of the rail and hold circle. Then, as soon as they grind to the end of the rail they stack it and they lose their trick points by hitting into you.

You can only win this way if you are currently first with more points than anyone else

In any S.K.A.T.E. challenge involving stairs (pretty much all of them) an easy way to own the competition is to do a 540 spin. To do this, you can do any move (I suggest a simple move like an ollie). While in the air hit the left analog stick left or right to do a 360. While still in the air, hit the right analog stick the same way you did the left, rotating the board another 180 degrees giving a total of 540 degrees. When the pro skater's up they'll do some random move giving them a letter.
