Berserker Ring
After completeing the game, load up your file to start a new game. Choose either Normal or Hard, and play the game until you reach the battle with the two Ghouls in the Underwater Cable. Once you win, along with the Power Ring, you'll also get the Berserker Ring, which allows you to always fight in Berserk mode without having the Solar Noise be at 7/8 or MAX.

Defeating Beck/Varin
This fight can be hell if you don't know what you're doing, considering he has massive amounts of HP and a wide range of powerful attacks. He can be split into 4 forms, so I'll go through each one.

Battle Prep:
Varin is nearly immune to physical attacks, so you'll need to be hitting him with the most powerful magic spells you have. This is what you will need:

1) Character 1 (probably Argilla) - Earth Magic (amped), Healing spells.
2) Character 2 - It doesn't matter, so long as they have a move that Nulls/absorbs/reflects physical attacks
3) Character 3 (probably Gale) - Wind Magic (amped), Force Drain (Null will work)
4) Chracter 4 (probably Ciello) - Electric Magic, Healing spells, Electric Drain (Null will work)




1st form:
Easy as hell. Set up your party as follows, and do:
Character 1: Earth Attack
Character 2: Null Physical
Character 3: Wind Attack

2nd form:
Getting harder. Infinate wind is over powered. Do the following. You'll get hurt by a physical attack, but the following wind attack will heal you.
Character 1: Earth Attack
Character 2: Pass
Character 3: Force Drain
Character 1: Earth Attack

3rd form:
This is a lot harder. He now has electric attacks, which will murder Gale, so you'll need to take out Charcter 1 and swap them for Character 4.

His attacks work in patterns. They are not random.

First round -> Electric moves

Character 4: Electric Drain
Character 2: Pass
Character 3: Wind Attack
Character 4: Electric Attack (you'll notice he halves electic damage, which is why we didn't start with character 4)

Second round -> Physical moves

Character 4: Electric Attack
Character 2: Null Physical
Character 3: Wind Attack

Third round -> Wind moves

Character 4: Electric Attack
Character 2: Pass
Character 3: Force Drain
Character 4: Electric Attack

4th form:
Now he's in red HP, and he uses phycho rage. Don't worry too much, as the pattern remains the same. His physical round is a lot harder though so you may need to heal after that. Just keep null/draining his attacks and attacking when you can, and he'll be gone.

You can get this powerful bullet with 300 power from vishnu, use item find skill so she/he will drop it..

New Game+
After beating the game, load up the slot that says EXTRA on it and you'll be able to choose between Normal and Hard. If you play the game on Normal again, you'll start out at Level 1 with zero money, but you'll retain all Mantras and Karma Rings from your previous playthrough.

Skipping Turns
Don't be scared to Pass your turn to another character. Skipping a turn only uses half a turn up. If you have two heavy attackers and one weaker character, then you should pass the weaker characters turn so that the stronger character can attack instead.

Weak Enemy Indication
You can tell if your opponent is nearly dead by the colour of the damage numbers. If it's red (rather than white), then the enemy will be close to dead.

Getting Heat.
In order to get Heat in Digital Devil Saga 2, you'll need to make four choices; two in each game.

In the first Digital Devil Saga game, use these answers in the following places:

-At Coordinate 136, when you're about to face Mick The Slug, answer "No, I can't"

-After defeating Varin Omega, answer "It doesn't matter"

When you play through Digital Devil Saga 2, use these answers in the following places:

-At the EGG Installation, answer "We're comrades"

-At the EGG Installation (second visit), answer "I do..."

If you use those answers when given the chance, Heat will join you at the final dungeon of the game, taking Rolands place.

Hard Difficulty
Either by loading a clear save from the first Digital Devil Saga, or by completing Digital Devil Saga 2 you can select your difficulty of either Normal or Hard. Hard mode makes it harder to escape, only works 30% of the time, enemies cause 1.5 times more damage and have a 1.5 times higher critical hit ratio, when you hit an enemy's weakness you'll do 2 times damage, and allows you to face an extra secret boss called Satan, that is located in the last dungeon of the game.

Secret skills.
To get a few secret skills for three of your characters, you need to make correct choices in both Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2.

In the first game, use this answer at the following time:

-When asked about allying with the Maribel Tribe, answer "We will help them without betrayal". This is to obtain Argilla's skill.

Uploading a saved file from Digital Devil Saga 1 on new game for Digital Devil Saga 2 will get Gale a new skill.

In the second game, use this answer at the following time:

-When you reach the top of the Karma Society Tower, answer "We'd never join you" to obtain Seraph's skill.

If you used those answers, Argilla, Gale, and Seraph will obtain new skills at the final dungeon.
