Easy way to win and gain excitement
It's quite simple. Just knock your opponent down with a running move when the match begins. Knock the ref down, you'll get excitment points. Go outisde, and pick up a weapon, if your opponent is a cruiser he most likely as a rope move so if he does, knock him down outside and then get a weapon. Hit him, you will gain excitement. Keep grabbing weapons and hitting him over and over again, soon he will be in the red region and you will soon get your special meter full. Hit your special move, you will get a lot of excitement from that. Now continue to hit him with the weapon until he is knocked out. You win and get some good experience from it. I got an average of 120% crowd excitment from doing this process.

When creating a wrestler, look at the name list. There are a lot of names in there that are wrestlers that aren't in the game I.E. Lance Storm, Ric Flair, Junkyard Dog, Kurt Angle

Press Up(2), Down(2), Left, Right, Left, Right, Triangle(2), Square at the main menu. After enabling the code, go to the options screen and save your options. This will keep all wrestlers unlocked if you start your game over.

Alternative Costumes
When you go to select a wrestler instead of pressing X press O to use a wrestler's Alternative Costume.
