A-Gear : Freefall drop

If the A-Gear is on a platform or on a gate ring, you can drive off. The A-Gear will not fall and explode, rather, it will hover down like a feather. You can use this for certain tactics; and you can still switch to air mode anytime during the freefall.

A-Gear : Quick Land

To prevent a slow landing that may cause you to loose a target you were tracking, fly straight at the ground. Before hitting dirt, press the "C" key to initiate ground mode. Since you're closer to the ground, landing is done almost instantly.

Also note that the A-Gear can hover over water.

Missile Firing and Lag

Space Cowboys has a history of problems involving lag and missiles. Your Gear tends not to fire the weapons when you choose to use them when the target reticule is on the enemy.

In some cases, the lag may be upwards half a minute. Be patient, and do not try to use more rockets, as the lag will only hold them back too. In the end, they are all fired at once, even if you only have one shot backed up. If you no longer have the reticule on the enemy, they will not track, and all will be deducted from your cache.

Mission: Operation Cooling Magma part 3

The unfinished warship or Ordin (whatever it was called) is located over the middle of the volcano in the center of the map. It's one tough cookiee, and I recommend you get your level 35 airframe before heading after it. Get some level 30+ weapons to complement; preferably mosquitos or Edrills because the probability counts a lot for this one. Also bring your fastest engine, speed also counts.

Head through the SAM sites and toward the volcano, activating whatever defensive/offensive skills you can along the way. Once you see it, open the map and take note of the supply base, and the river that runs closest to it; as it draws the safest path through the SAMS and back to the supply base.

Fire at the warship as much as you can until you take too much damage. At around 30% HP, retreat to the supply base using boosters. If you get too close to a SAM site near the supply base, it'll keep its lock on you even while landed. Speedy engines can help prevent the lock on, or at least land before the missiles can shoot over the supply base and hit you. If you have to, behind the supply base and let the fired missiles impact the wall.

Since the warship isn't too far away, you should be able to heal up and return to battling it without its HP suddenly having been fully healed.

It can be a long battle if you avoided purchasing skills, as they are essential to further leveling and completing missions. Also, if you don't have level 30+ weapons, and/or they don't have at least 350 max damage then it'll be a really tough fight. At level 35 it is going to be a redzone boss, meaning it's around level 38-40 and has an edge over you with natural defense. So a lot of shots will miss naturally; and the higher the probability of shots the faster the mission will take place - and less money you'll have to spend if you have to respawn.

Operation Cooling Magma part 2

In this mission you have to circle around SAM sites and shoot at colored crystals in between SAMs. This is increadibly tough if you're not super high level or aren't an A Gear with uber equipment.

The SAM (rockets and missile launchers) have a range of about 800, but usually fire when at 550-650, meaning you can get a few shots in on the crystals from long distance range (if you've got a good radar and sniper range missiles, even better). Basically, you get as close as you can to the crystal (as soon as you get a lock on), fire one or two volleys at it, turn around, boost, turn around and repeat. If done just right, the SAMs won't fire at you. But be warned, the pesky others in the area will, such as annoyed Drivers, Lancers, and the others.

Since this is a mid level mission as is (34), the respawn charge is going to be at least 7k per spawn. If you're suicidal, equip YOUR VERY FIRST BINDER. When you die with this, there IS NO RESPAWN CHARGE.

Equip your first binder, and put on a speedy engine and beat the crap out of the crystals as much as you can; respawn, and fly in before the crystal HP resets. Or use the first binder you have on you to swap out when you're close to dying. The missiles from the launchers can go faster than 500ms, and that's almost as fast as the highest level I Gear engine. Dodging them is no easy task, and since they fire like mad anyway, even if you dodge one set, the other is right behind you. So I advise the first 'hit and run' strategy above all others; swapping out the first binder if you can do so safely before going kaboom, and do so while being able to return to the crystal site before its HP resets.

Operation Cooling Magma Part 2

I finally figured this one out! The missile launchers may only lock on at 800, but the missile launchers are situated in a ring around the crystals. This means that the crystals are always back behind the launchers, and they still get you.

The secret is flying as high as you can above the crystals. Then you can fly straight down, shoot your missiles at the crystals and then fly straight back up before you get within 800m of the crystals, and the missile launchers.

Power Leveling

Once you get to level 11 and have finished all but one mission at Begeniou, you will have the option of completing the mission "Decision". The mission involves you joining the Begeniou Army, or the Arlington Army. From that point, you'll be fighting Ai enemies, as well as players on the other Army.

Things change once you're in the regular forces. For more info on that, check the main site (info thread) for Nation info.

To level up fastest to L.11, From the start of the game head to the Tylant Jungle. (North East portal in Stone Ruin)

There are a few monsters in this area, as well as a supply base where you can heal up (for free), and also pay to resupply weapons. The platform is on the right, when you exit the Stone Ruin portal and are in Tylant'. Fly low to the platform, slow down with the S key, and press the C key to land. After resupplying, press W, C, or the Spacebar to take off.

Near the Tylant>Stone Ruin portal you came from is a swam of monsters called "Nating". These are the ones you're looking for. Until you level up more, only your missiles will damage them, but they give the most exp/are the most balanced enemy to fight here.

In order of strength (creatures and locations)

Hornian (yellow hornet)- North West corner

Mall (ground beetles)- Ground area near supply platform

Nating (spiders)

Hornian Blazer (red hornet)- found on the middle island

Hornian Guardian (blue wasp)- found on the South East corner

Titan Moth (giant moth)- found along the Eastern border.

I suggest hunting strictly Natings and Blazers (Blazers only after your accuracy increases a bit). Eventually you'll get to level 8. You can stop here, and return to Bigeniou to begin your official missions. With the experience points from completing missions, and the exp from killing monsters during these missions, you'll get to level 11, or get damn close to it> in which case kill more creatures at Tylant.

Drawback: If you spent time killing creatures without poaching Natings, you may miss the chances to pick up weapon drop items from enemies. If you wish, before joining an army, go back to Stone Ruin and slay anything. No particular monster drops a particular item, other than metal ores. So these guys are easier to kill, and thus increase your chances of finding upgrade weapons.

Quick Turn

To turn faster, move the mouse left and hold strafe left, or move the mouse right, and hold strafe right. Very useful for navigating in the caves or tracking an enemy that just passed you at close range.

A-GEAR beginner tips

Since the A-Gear doesn't have the tracking missiles that other gears have, it can be harder to try to level up; but that shouldn't hold you back from trying to create a powerful A-Gear character, as they are essential to either Army, and have powerful weapons.

You have to get your distance meter between an enemy to around 400 for the guided rockets (alternate attack) of the A-Gear to have the best chance of hitting. Basically, treat the A-Gear's rocket fire like that of a close range gun.

The A-Gear's main weapon does fire longer distances (about 800-1000)> but accuracy stat needs upping, and you need a strong weapon for hits to be effective.

No respawn charge

Before you die and are charged an arm and a leg to respawn, equip your very first airframe (you start the game with it, be it guard, binder, or veil, etc). There is no charge for respawning with this binder equipped, so it certainly comes in handy when you level up past 30 and the charge is at least 7k.
