Create and change current game graphics

Note: This procedure involves editing game files; create a backup copy of the files before proceeding. Enter the SimCity 2000 directory and the bitmaps sub-directory. Take off the read only attributes of the files to edit them as desired, but do not change the filenames.

Debug menu

Click and hold the toolbar and type in priscilla. a drop box should apear on the toolbar titled debug. click it to find devastating disasters and goodies for your city. note: for the microwave disaster to take place you need to have a microwave power plant placed. Same with the Nuclear Meltdown.

Developing armed forces (Windows 95 only)

Enable the "Debug menu" code, and activate all gifts and inventions. If a disaster happens, there will be a military, but you will not be able to use any. Enable the "Receive a military base" code, then wait. When the base appears, you will be able to use the military troops.

Erasing objects

Select "Trees/Water" and choose "Trees". Click to make the trees go on the city. Press [Shift] while clicking to erase things from your city. The population will remain and you can add more objects over the erased buildings.

Get the Sims people to walk further than usual

Sims will not walk more than three squares for commercial, residential, or industrial zonings. You can get around this by building small two-tile roads every six tiles in your larger zones. You do not, however, need to do this for arcologies, police/fire stations, airports, seaports, water pumps, power plants, etc.

Helicopter shooting

To shoot down the helicopter select the centering tool and click it ot the helicopter the guy in it will say "Mayday" and there will be an explosion. Sometimes it can even start a fire.

Space launch

Accumulate a large amount of money and keep adding Launch Arcos to the map. Keep filling the map with them until see them launch into space. A message stating that you will be compensated for the Launch Arcos will be displayed. Note: This can be done in both the DOS v1.1 and Windows v1.0 versions of the game.

To see the launch Arcos fly off into outer space, choose to the "Load city" option in the file menu. Open the "349arco" file. Set the speed to "African Swallow" and wait. You will receive as much money as the Arcos were worth.

Ultra high prison security

Build prisons on islands. Block their only access to the mainland by a police station. A separate power and water supply for the prison is also recommended.

Unusual statue

Build a lake with a marina in it. Make sure there is a two-tile extension of the lake. When a boat enters the farthest tile, bulldoze the entrance. The boat is now basically a permanent statue until you bulldoze the water under it.

Using the fund trick

This trick can give you a large amount of money each year. Essentially, it tricks the game into paying you interest instead of the other way around. You should not build anything before using this trick. If you do, it may not work. Type fund then press [Enter] to accept the bond. Repeat and accept another bond. Go into the "Budget" window (with taxes, funding and bond information). Click on the book icon under "Bond Payments". It will bring up a screen that shows your current fund ratings. Click on "Issue Bond". The rate should be ".%". Accept it. Exit the Budget window, then turn the speed on "Cheetah". You should accumulate about $1.5 million each year.

View the tile co-ordinates

Hold [Shift] + [Alt] and click on a tile in your city. The x, y coordinates will be displayed in a dialog box. The coordinates are based on the tile grid, ranging from 0 to 127 (the grid is 128x128). This trick is useful when symmetrical cities.
