Spawn a player and buddy friendly turret!
The following will spawn a extra friendly turret. I already found out how to spawn a friendly turret but this one also protects your in-game buddies.

Call the file turret.rc and put in <yourhalflifedir>\BIN\CFG

In the same directory, you should also be able to see the file called "valve.rc"

Open it, after the last line paste the following:

bind * "exec turret.rc"

You can also choose to put that in config.cfg but I always find it less fuss to put strange bindings in valve.rc. Works fine.

All-Knowing Vorginaut
While riding the water ski in the Canal levels, you come to a point where you fight a Combine Gunship before you can progress. After you destroy the gunship, look around that area and you will find two sewer tunnels, one of them has a grate which is ajar and you can slip through.

Sprint through the radioactive waste and exit through the hole in the tunnel to find a vorginaut with a sore throat. Talk to him many times to hear all he has to say.

Alternate Turret Srategy for Entanglement.
there are 3 turret sections throughout Entanglement, and the last two can be somewhat difficult to survive.

the first turret sequence finds you in a medium sized office with two turrets at your disposal. there are two stair cases leading into the office, which are located at the immediate left and right as you first walk in.

grab the first turret and place it behind the hand rail (so it is overlooking the staircase) at the top of the left hand stairs. DON'T put it at the opening the the stairs. make sure its about 3-5 feet from the rail. place the second turret in the same place, except on the other side of the room. now, just wait out the battle, picking up turrets if they fall over. use your shotgun for anything that leaks through. when the battle is over, just leave the turrets where they are.

the next turret sequence takes place in a largish jail cell block. you will have 3 turrets this time, located in a hallway with both a heath and power staion. the solders will not show up until you place the last turret, so take your time setting them up.

stay in the hall way where you find the turrets, placing two to the left of where the turrets are first located, and one to the right. make sure they are in the hall way a bit, because a lot of greandes are going to harass your turrets. again, use your shotgun for any straglers that leak through, and make suer and pick up any turrets that fall over.

the final sequence takes place in a large teleporter room. you have 3 turrets.

place all three turrets by the area where you get them, facing one towards the large opening, one ponting between the teleporter and the large opening, and one facing toward the smaller opening. they should be fairly close together. if you place them correctly, you will take very little damage, and you won't have to worry about your turrets being knocked over for any reason.

its a little vague, and was tested using the easy skill level, but it works. plus you don't have to worry about lugging 5 other turrets around.

Entanglement - Turret Strategy
The second half of Entanglement involves defeating waves of Combine troops, using turrets. A great strategy is to pool them, rather than leave them behind.

The first time you use turrets, it's in a large guardroom at the top of two staircases. There are two turrets here. Set both up to overlook the right hand side, and take the left with your shotgun. It's quite easy.

Collect the turrets and take them with you, moving them up the corridor a bit at a time, then going back for the other one. Quicksave regularly, so you can reload if something happens to cause you to lose one. You'll descend into the sewers where an electric cable has charged the water, so you'll have to make your way across the pipes. Drop the turrets into the water and make your way along the pipes, until you're ready to jump to the far platform. Use the Gravity Gun to collect them again and throw them onto the platform, then jump across yourself. The next bit involves reaching the raised ledge. Throw the turrets over to the other side, then throw all the blue barrels, the wooden pallet and the crate into the water to make a bridge across and use the crate to climb up onto the ledge.

Bring the two turrets through the door and continue on. You should have no problems til you reach the upstairs area with the two doorways and railings. There'll be an office behind you full of random furniture, and the staircase you ascended to reach the part you're on. Take one turret and set it up on the left balcony, on the left hand side, so it covers the hallway/cells below. Take the other turret and set it up on the right balcony, again, covering the hallway and cells below.

Next, use the Gravity Gun to collect the 3 crates from the right hand hallway and bring them up onto the level you're on. Build these up to close up the right hand doorway, so the turret is protected and can no longer be accessed, but can still cover the hallway below.

Repeat the blockade strategy for the left hand doorway, using the filing cabinets and table from the office to close up the doorway, but make sure you're on the left hand balcony when you close it up. Once you've done this and both turrets are set up and ready, jump over the balcony to the hall below and quicksave. Alyx will tell you she sees Combines approaching. Quickly go into the room on the right, and get the other 3 turrets from the holding area. Set all 3 up in the right hand hallway. Put 2 in the middle of the hall pointing up the hall at the forcefield at the end of the hall, locating them just before the shortcut between halls so they cover the end of the hall and any Combines coming through the shortcut, and put the other one nearby facing the other direction towards the turret on the balcony. This should now be sufficient protection to survive the entire attack easily. Just hide into the left of the computer console against the right wall and kill any Combines who get through your defences. I lost about 10-12 health altogether using this method.

When it's all over, Alyx will rejoin you. Use the Gravity Gun to collect the balcony turrets if they weren't knocked down, and bring all 5 gradually down the staircase. Bring them along the dark tunnel and set them all down just after the bit that breaks off to the right, when you can see the doorway at the end of the hall in the distance. Quicksave and approach the door. The game will load the next section. Turn and use the Gravity Gun to bring all five turrets with you. Set them up in the hallway beyond the door. The lights are about to go out. If you get at least two set up, they will kill all the Combines who attack in the darkness. Proceed down the staircase with your five turrets. You'll reach a long hall and Alyx will go through a massive doorway and turn and face you. This is a level changing bit where you can be seperated from your five turrets, so shoot them all through the door behind Alyx using the Gravity Gun, then run through and she'll shut the door. The next bit involves Alyx going through with the other doctor into the teleporter area at the back. Be aware of another door that will close behind you as you walk through. Alyx stands just beyond it to mark where it is. Shoot all five turrets through it into the room beyond, being careful not to shoot them through the forcefields.

This is the final section of Entanglement. If you've followed this strategy, you'll have 8 turrets to set up around the room and won't be shot at once, when Alyx unlocks the other 3 in the corner for you to use. For one last turret use, take one with you when she powers up the teleporter and walk backwards into it. You'll lift it up and it will shoot at the soldiers as you ascend.

Entanglement Turret Strategy
Did you notice that out of four gun compartments, only three have guns in them? In order to defeat wave after wave of soldiers, simply take the guns out, turn them around, and put them back in their compartment. If they get shot at, they will not fall over and will continue to kill soldiers. The empty compartment is for you to hide in, and take care of any soldiers that manage to slip through.

The very first time I tried this strategy, I didn't lose any health at all and only had to kill a few stragglers that made it past my guns briefly.

The most simple solution is sometimes the best one.

G-man sightings *MAJOR SPOILER*
the G-man sightings I have found in the game are:

1. in Dr. Kliener's lab, after Barney walks in, he will turn on a T.V. moniter. Go over to it and Press "use" until you see G-man standing near a chainlink fence. He will stay for about 4 seconds, then turn and face the camera, and then walk away.

2. On the level where you get the hoverboat, right after you get it, continue until you reach the big red barn. STOP the boat immediatly. Zoom in using "Z". you will see G-man standing there near the rail. He will stay there for a few seconds, then walk into the barn. When you get up to the barn, he's gone.

3. After the Vortigaunt gives you the machine gun for the front of your hoverboat, proceed through the level. after you kill the attack helicopter, you will pass through an area where you go under a low(ish) bridge. You will see G-man on a ledge in front of you.

4. on the Highway level, where you get the dune buggie, continue on as normal. Eventually, you will reach a house (it's the house before you get the rocket launcher) where you can go inside and kill 2-3 combine. There will be a binocular typr thing set near the window. go uo to it and hit "use." You will zoom in and it will automatically pan left and right. You will see G-man On a ledge talking to the man who later gives you the rocketlauncher.

5. On entanglement, At the beginning, the very first security room you enter will have a moniter. Hit "use" until you see G-Man appear. very similar to the sighting in Dr. Kliener's lab.

6. On "City 17" after dog opens the gate for you, go into the building. you will see a pile of rubble, a broken elevator, and a doorway that is blocked by debris. In the door way you can't go through, there will be a T.V. sitting inside. Look on it and you will se G-man. The tv will turn off after about 2 seconds, so you have to be quik.

I know there are others, but those are the only ones I have found. I have heard of a sighting after you exit the mines on "ravenholm" but i have never seen it.

Sniper Bullet Evasion
Here's a tip I forgot to include in "Tactics, tactics, and more tacticts":

*When facing a sniper, zoom-in with the Z button (or if you have the crossbow, just use the scope - it's much more comfortable) and look directly at it. When he fires, you can see the bullet coming and safely dodge each shot until you get close enough to own his sorry ass with a grenade.

Tactics, tactics, and more tactics
In Half-Life 2, the havok engine isn't just there for visual splendor, you have to use it and your environment to your advatage! (as well as plenty of other things)
*In the "Water Hazard" level, you'll start out with no gun. Now, it's pretty self-explanatory that you can mow-down the ground troops, but what about the guys on platforms? See that they're supported by beams? That's right - ram them and send the combine toppling into the drink!
*As many Half-Life 2 players know, the Ravenholm level isn't just about spookiness, it's about abusing zombies!
!For one, if you ever see a wall of flame, turn it off and turn the fumes back on. Then get a couple of hapless suckers to follow you through the visible gases. Once they're in, fire one bullet into the gas to light it and watch them flail in agony
!Another sadistic area is in the place with the two cars supported by wires (pick the second one a bit far off). Get the multitude of shuffling morons to follow you past the second car, then sprint back and pull the switch to release the car and crush them (if you're good at timing, you can own all of they sorry asses )
!One more tip, buzzsaw blades, oxygen tanks, and cinder blocks are your friends (with the gravity gun)
*Furthermore, other enemies can be used as traps! If you see barnacles and are being pursued by the combine, lead them into a patch of them and watch them struggle briefly before becoming a helpless meal
*But how do you deal with a patch of barnacles with no combine to feed them? pick up an exploding barrel and roll it too one of them (works in the "Route Canal" level) until it picks it up. Then shoot the barrel twice to set it on fire. When it reaches the mouth of the beast, it will detonate and clear out the entire patch (if you're lucky, it usually only takes out enough to let you through)
*The hoppers in the "Anticitizen One" level are a nuisance to a novice player, but with the gravity gun, you can set things right! Pick one up with the gravity gun, then set it in a nice position. If you can set up a grid of the things, the combine will never touch you (if you're out of aiming distance)
*If you're swift on your feet and duck around every indestructible corner every few seconds, you can evade the striders in the "Follow Freeman" level
*The annoying manhacks will be your slaves once acquiring the gravity gun. Just shoot them with the beam to send them flying (with damage) or suck them up and launch them at combine (or other manhacks if you're good)

Using the Organic Manipulater (Super Gravity Gun) on any level
Wan't to use the Dark Energy infused grav gun previously only available after infiltrating the Citadel? All you have to do is bring down the dev console using the ` key (must be enabled in options) and enter "changelevel d3_citadel_04". This is a point in the game after just receiving the upgraded grav gun.

Now that you have the upgraded grav gun, bring the dev console back down and once again type in "changelevel". This time, after entering the command, write in the level designation you were at prior to entering d3_citadel_04. This can usually be found as one of the lines in the dev console, all you need is a patient eye. For the sake of example, "changelevel d1_canals_01". If you are on a level that is BEFORE the point in the game where you would normally receive the original grav gun, you will need to enter "sv_cheats 1" to enable cheats, and then enter the cheat "give weapon_physcannon" or "impulse 101". Pull out the grav gun and be delighted to find its now blue and has Organic Manipulating Capabilities! (that means picking up living things, anything from headcrabs to combine soldiers )

Notes: There are a few problems I've encountered when altering normal game flow in this manner.
First: Unless you kill ANY enemy with the upgraded grav gun (primary fire, alt fire ONLY) the corpse of said enemy will COMPLETELY DISAPPEAR upon its death. This includes items picked up with the grav gun and thrown at the enemy. Example; Shooting a combine soldier with the Magnum will cause the body to completely fade from existence upon impact of the bullet. This is unfortunate, but if you grab with the grav gun, or use primary fire to punt it, the body will remain as is normal.

Second: Just like in the citadel, the energies from using the upgraded grav gun will DESTROY any weapon the enemy was using when killed. You will not get ammunition off of killed enemies, ever.

Third: This may just be my own crappy computer, but I found that picking up some objects that aren't usually pickupable (upgraded grav gun can handle heavier objects, just like in the citadel) will cause some errors that crash the game. So BE CAREFUL of what you pickup, the upgraded grav gun is fun, but can be dangerous.

Other than that, you should be able to dominate your foes using this supreme physics altering machine.

In order to enter the following cheats you will have to activate the console by modifying game shortcut. Right-click on the Half-Life 2 icon on your desktop, select Properties and a new screen should pop up. Add the " -console" parameter (without the quotes) at the end of the target field so it looks similar to this:

Click Apply to save the changes and run the game using that shortcut. Now, use the [~] key while playing to bring up the console and enter the following codes there:

Console Commands
Here are a bunch of console commands. First Go into your Half-life 2 folder, and make a shortcut of hl2.exe. Open up the properties for the shortcut and type a space and add: -console. Now, when you load the game via the shortcut you will have the console already set up. Type (with out the quotes) "sv_cheats 1" to activate the cheatcodes.

Editing The skills.cgf File
This is a minor cheat. The game all ready contain lot of built in cheats. This involves editing a file in your game directory. In your game directory there is a folder called "hl2". in side it is another "hl2" folder. In side this second "hl2" is a folder called "CFG". Inside this there is a file called "skills.cgf". First back it up.

In this file there are various sections you can edit. (I used a hex editor, an old habit of mine). You can increase the amount of ammo you can carry, decrease the health amount of your enemy etc. Be careful not to put too low or too high number figures. Use a little bit of creativity and common sense! Hope you enjoy the game with this cheat.

In order to got to this G-Man you need to use a cheat and that cheat would be: noclip. Ok in order to get to him you need to get to the area that seals off the last part after the last building. Right here you use in the Developers Console than go past the trains and than you will see G-man.

How NPC's work.
First of all, I want to say.
I did not make these. A very nice person by the username of Macilo made these. However, he/she did not join neoseeker. So they were not able to be submited. I decided to post them instead. So here you go.


Simple. tpye this in consle: npc_create npc_<npcname>

How To Bind The All Weapons And Maximum Health Cheat For Quick Use
During the game press "`" to bring down the console. Write "sv_cheats 1" to activate cheating on. Then write "impulse 101". Lastly write "bind Z impulse 101". Now when you press the "z" button on your keyboard you get every weapon and your health back.

Steam console
To enable the console in the Steam version of Half-Life 2....
Open the Steam account and select the properties of the game.
In the "set launch options" write : -console
Then the game should launch with the console open.
Leave it open !
And just type in god/impulse 101/noclip
Return to the game by pressing ESC.
