Challenge Cup Tips

O.K, this is probably the hardest cup in the game, as you have no choice of what Pokemon you get at the start so here are some tips.

1.Make sure that in your party you have one of each kind of move.

2.Make sure that EVERY Pokemon has a move the same as it's type.

3.Make sure that you have a few combo moves. eg. Sunny Day + Solarbeam

4.Complete the Pokemon Academy. Once you do that, your Pokemon will have more useful move sets.

If your set of Pokemon does not follow the rules, simply reset the game. Game testers say that you might have to reset up to 20 times to get a set of Pokemon capable of winning ANY of the four divisions.

So keep trying!

Un-natural Moves

If you use a Gameshark, Action-Replay or similar device to give your Pokemon moves they cannot normally learn (even with a TM or HM), the attack name will appear in purple instead of white. For example, if you taught a Magikarp the move Psychic (which it cannot normally learn) it will appear in purple.

Keep your Pokemon safe

This is a neat trick I have discovered just
recently.

WARNING!!! If you start a New Game after doing all of the below, you will not be able to take out your Pokemon from the N64 Pokemon until you catch at least 150 Pokemon.

Now if you have been working for a long while on a Pokemon Game, and you feel uncomfortable starting a New Game but you really want to, just do this.

Turn on your Pokemon Stadium 2 game with the N64 Game Cartrige and your game inserted inside it. Now go to Professor Oak's Lab, and deposit all of your Pokemon that you want to save into your N64 Box. Now feel free to start a New Game without worries.

THE ULTIMATE TRICK - NO LIES, NO GAMESHARK

Forget that 'golden gyarados/kogane city' nonsense..

Want to pass a certain Hidden Power type onto another pokemon? How about max stats? Want unlimited shiny pokemon?

1 - Raise a pokemon to level 100. No rare candies. No switching. You might want to fight a few hundred Unowns to fill out your stat exp to make sure at level 100 that pokemon is at it's max potential for whatever DVs it's got (DVs are invisible stats ranging from 0 to 15. Each stat has a DV. Simply put, the lower the DV, the lower the max stat at level 100. The higher, the better. This is the factor explaining why two different pokemon caught in the wild with the same level have different stats.)

2 - I hope you didn't sell or trade in your N64 - you *NEED* Pokemon Stadium 2 and Pokemon Gold or Silver in the transfer pak. Make sure in the game pak for G/S that box 7 is empty.

3 - Through the Gameboy Tower, put the lv100 pokemon into BOX 7. No exit the PC and save. Leave the GB mode and go to Oak's Lab. Open the list of pokemon in your party and in box 7. Open the menu on the pokemon in box 7 and move it into your party. Exit and save.

4 - Go back into GB-mode and put the pokemon you want to benefit into box 7, followed by any other pokemon in your party. Now, switch to another box, but while it says 'saving' hit reset on the N64 around 'sav' or 'savi'

5 - Go back to GB-mode and withdraw the pokemon. It will have the name, DVs, hidden power, original trainer and stat exp of the level 100 pokemon. It's level may decrease by 1 or increase by 1 as well (sometimes more). If it was your pokemon originally, you can go to the name rater and fix it. If the pokemon you used was shiny, the pokemon recieving the benefit of this trick will be shiny too.

Notes: Let's say you do this trick to a level 40 pokemon, it will have level 100 stat exp, so all you need to do is rare candy it to level 100 for the best possible stats. Also, after you do the trick, let's say to a level 40 pokemon, you can use that one to do the trick to others. I do this to get the best possible stats for my little cup team in Stadium 2 as well as all the other challenge modes in Pokemon Stadium 2.

Very helpful idea

If you are very serious in (or frustrated with) getting through the story line, I strongly suggest that you use a gameshark for gameboy. Not only is it good for making your pokemon very strong, It is extremely fun to watch some pokemon battle with very unnatural moves. My suggestion is that you give them a large variety of moves that are good against all types (i.e. squirtle with flamethrower) and some of the best of the types (like sneasle with crunch), and do not forget to get inf $$ so you can buy lots'a vitamins. If you are already done with the story line and you want to do it again you might not need or want this.

P.S. you will of course have problems with the challenge cup because you don't get to choose your own team of unbeatables.

Xatu in the Options menu!

First go to the Options Screen. Then you wait there without pressing any buttons or moving any directions. You will soon see a Xatu appear, then it will open its wings and reappear in another area of the screen. Xatu will keep doing that until you move.
