All it does is it gives you 100 lives and a special triple jump.

did ya know that when you defeat Bowser in his 3rd arena, you get get a big power star. but when you collect it, it doesn't count as a power star. it doesn't go to you're collection. so, that means that theirs a 121st power. but don't hence my title, it's easy to win the 122nd power star. just defeat Bowser on his 3rd arena, but instead of collecting the big power star, jump off the arena platform. you should land in the castle court yard and a power star is sitting on top of the star statue. collect you will land in the room where course 10 is. wow! some cheat eh, okay then. so, it is true that their are 122 power stars in super Mario 64. bye goombas!

After you beat the game, go into the newly-opened cannon. Jump in, and aim yourself at the top of the castle. Once you hit the top, walk around and talk to Yoshi. Numerous things will unlock, and Yoshi will give you 100 lives. You can do more things, but that is up to you to discover.

Once you've unlocked the Invisible Cap course, go down the slope and collect as many lives as possible. If you miss one, make Mario crawl and you can easily climb up the wall again. After you've collected all of the lives on the slope, fall off the edge. You won't lose and life and you will end up in a little pool of water right next to the entrance to the course. Enter the course and repeat as many times as you want.

Are you stuck on the last Bowser? ( Bowser in the Sky ) Well here's an easy way to beat him. You know by now that to beat him you swing him by his tail and throw him at a mine, right? You can do one of two things:
#1: Run around in circles around Bowser, you run faster than he turns around. He may try to breath a fire shower but that makes it better for you because he stops turning. Eventually you can grab a hold of his tail and swing him around into a mine.
#2: Run as far away form Bowser as you can. He will charge at you. When he is about to run into you run or flip or whatever to dodge him. He will then have to screech to a halt and its better if your at the edge because then he'll first have to maintain his balance. This is your chance. Grab him by the tail and since you are the edge a mine won't be too far away.
OK, now he has lost 1/3 of his HP using one of those easy methods. As Bowser is flying through the air run toward where he'll land. It will take a couple of seconds for him to get up and so you can easily grab his tail again. Swing him into a second mine. he now has lost 2/3 of his HP. He will then fly and land again and then get up and thrash about causing the land to break and form a star shape. Once again, he is wasting his time and giving you a " window of oppurtunity ". He will take about 5 seconds or so to get up and stop thrashing. The perfect chance to...yet again grab him by his tail and swing him into a mine. You have now beaten Bowser and the game!
Hints: If you are running low on health let Bowser breath fire and out of the blue fire some coins will appear. Grab them without getting hit.
Hint 2: You need quick timing to seize those "windows of oppurtunity" and good aim to throw Bowser into the mines. It may take a little practice but eventually you'll get it.
Hint 3: If you lose a lot and have only one life left or so you can get a life shroom behind the left pillar closest to you. It's hiding from you.
Hint 4: When Bowser is thrashing about and destroying the course and it turns into a star, run to the middle of the course incase you're on the falling part of the star. ( credits goes to my bro, manateeman1994. )

Ok, first, start going down the slide and eventually, you will head into a tunnel of ice. Around the beginning there are about 6 coins. Follow that trail and you will go through a wall. In this tunnel, there are a couple of 1-Up mushrooms for you to collect. When you come out of this secret tunnel, you will beat the ice slide without having to do all the hard parts

In the course Cool Cool Mountain, when you are trying to get the 3rd star, the one where you have to beat the penguin, there is a way to do it alot easier. When the race starts jump on the penguins back and ride him down. When you are almost at the bottom jump off and beat him across the finish line. He will then give you the star.

Besides being a movie, "Star Wars" also means missile-to-missile defense systems. You can use a bob-omb in this fashion to blow up a falling bubble-bomb, but you have good timing! Start walking while carrying a bob-omb, then just throw it up into the air. Hopefully, you will hit a falling bubble, before it has even bounced once!

First, go to the end of the vanish cap course, then wall kick your way out of the cage. (start from the wall Mario is facing) then go back, STOP! Now you are near the vanish cap box. now long jump towards the elevators, and you should land on wood. QUICKLY, time your next jump to land on an elevator, then make your way through the elevators. Now make your way to the bottom of the slide, and crawl towards the slide, keep going... now you should be crawling up the slide. Good luck!

To get on the roof without the cannon stand right in front of the hill of the waterfall to your left when you start the game. Make it so mario is facing outward to it. Jump then do the mid-air kick and while in the air move back... youll be higher up. Right when you land you have to do it again or else youll slide down. It takes a lot of time and patience. Keep inching to the side and youll eventually get to the side roof. An easier way is to have a gameshark 3.3 turn on "mario runs up hills" and just keep pressing B.

Two things, one: jumping into the painting very high will land the water level above what it can get from the colored thingy's.

Two: by lowering the water level there is an invisible warp between the two out croppings of the object that houses the third water level changer. (third starting from bottom up) This warp takes you to the cannon. Nifty and handy.

By doing this you can actually get into the black walls with low water level. Awsome and it is also possible to wall-kick too, either up to the cannon or into the black thing.

Ok, you know that you can go through certain walls. well here are a few places i know.
#1: Shifting Sand Land. All you gotta do is go to that chamber with the fie course, go left and jump through the wall.
#2: Snowman's Land. This one stumped me. If you haven't yet talked to that toad neat the wall, he gives you a hint but anyway, go to the mirror room with all the paintings. its gotta be foe something. And it is. On the left side of the room you'll notice the wall is blank. If you look in the mirror, you'll see the cool cool moutnain painting. It is the painting for Snowman's land too. jump at the wall of which you see the painting in the mirror.
#3: In tall tall moutnain there is one star you have to get by going through a wall. somewhere on the moutnain you'll notcie a funky looking wall. jump through it and you'll appear on a slide like the one where you jump through Peach at the beginning of thye game.

Heres what: The Down+'B' slide move will only last for a short time, so heres what to do.

You first have to have the upstairs of the castle unlocked. Go upstairs into the big mirror room. Jump into the wall on the left side of the room (Snowman's Land). After entering the level walk straight forward. You should soon come to a ice lake. to the left of you should be a wall. Face the wall, run and do triple jump to get as high as possible then do a wall kick, at your peak height do a dive if you did it right Mario's head will sink into the ice. That's got to hurt!!! You can also sink his butt in the snow by ground pounding instead of diving.

This is a trick where Mario propels himself through the ceiling of two different (known) spots. One, is where right past the second key door, walk through but instead of going up the stairs, jump up facing and touching the wall to the left if your looking from the door and Mario will catch the ceiling and drag himself up through it, landing you past some of the stairs
and up above.

The other is where you go to Bomb-Omb Battle Field and proceed to grab hold underneath the bridge and the climb to the lowest part and hit 'A' and Mario climbs through yet again.

Well it's kinda easy:
S1. During the begging of the slide you will upon a path that will make you jump hurry right before you jump head left and you'll fall next to the end which is the cave!
S2. Follow the same inscutions for S1 but instead head right (This one is smaller) You'll land on part of the slide you should do a belly slide.
S3. Right on the middle part of the slide you'll come across a coin line it should have 5 coins you'll come across a secret tunnel inside there will be 2 1-up mushrooms!
S4. (THIS IS REALLY SHORT!) Make sure that you started with a leg slide (L+Z+B) Now on the on the first mini U-turn jump! and you go over a gap.

First, make sure you DO NOT have at least 70 stars, or the cheat will not work.

On the 3rd floor of the castle, (the floor with the clock) proceed to the star door leading to the final showdown with Bowser. A message will appear saying you need at least 70 stars, or else you will just walk on the eternal staircase. Ignore the message and go through anyway. Proceed to the middle of the stairs. Long Jump backwards up the stairs (first do a long jump, but hold Z and the Control Stick down). As soon as you land, press A again. Do so very quickly, and Mario will fly up the stairs. If you get lucky, Mario will go through the stairs and into Wet/Dry World.

Get the little penguin in the first area by the house in the snowy place and take it down the mountain to its mama. Then, pick him up. The penguin will waddle after you, and will click angrily.
Leave Mario idle for a while and he will fall asleep sitting up. Leave him idle for even longer, and he will lay down. Then he will start talking in his sleep and will say things like, "spaghetti" or "ravioli." Once I had him say, "pasta."

Obtaining 16 stars

To beat the game with fifteen stars, first you have to go to Bob-omb Battle Field. Beat as many objectives as you can, then go to Whomp's Fortress. Beat as many objectives there as you want until you have seven stars. Go and beat Bowser the first time and you will get the basement key. Open the door and go to Shifting Sand Land. Beat as many stages there as you can, then go to Lethal Lava Land and beat as many objectives as you can. After that, go to Hazy Maze Cave. Again, beat as many objectives as you can until you have fifteen stars. The rabbit appears in the flooded hallway. Catch him and he will give you the sixteenth star.

NOTE: you MUST have sixteen stars at this point, or the whole cheat is useless!!

Bypassing door #1 and 2

After you caught the bunny, take him to the door that you took to enter the flooded hallway from the room with the star door leading to the Second Bowser. Place him as close to the door as possible and open the door. Try to walk back through the door before it closes. If you did the trick correctly, you should be stuck in the wall. Grab the bunny and drag him through the door over to the star door. Long Jump backwards and you will be behind door number 2 (the star door). Go and beat the Second Bowser and take the key upstairs to the locked door. Open the door and proceed up the stairs (you might know the jump-through-ceiling-glitch). Now go immediatley to the foot of the red stairs.

Bypassing Door #3 and 4

When you get to the foot of the stairs on the 2nd floor, jump backwards as fast as you can aiming towards the wall and door #3 in a 45 degree angle. If done correctly, you will fly through the door (star door) and you will be on the third floor. Go up to door #4 (the door leading to the final showdown with Bowser) and walk through the door (it will say you need 70 stars, but it lets you through anyway).

Outsmarting the Eternal Staircase

When you get inside the door, the eternal staircse music will come on if you try to climb the staircase the normal way. To climb the staircase the glitchy way, backward jump aiming towards the upstairs and the wall at a 45 degree angle like the other time. If done correctly, you will be on the level that leads to the final Bowser. Jump through the chute and you will be on the last Bowser stage. Beat Bowser and you will have successfully completed the game with 16 stars.

NOTE: this cheat HAS been done by multiple people and can be done. The trick takes patience and skill, so attempt at own risk.

Note: Messing around with the console while it is running holds a risk of damage to either the console or the game.

This sort of cheat has been submitted for the legend of zelda: ocarina of time before, so I tried it on super mario 64 and i was laughing histerically for like 2 hours.

OK you don't need any stars or ANYTHING to do this. Once you start a game and see Mario standing in the field area, go to your n64 and apply pressure to the RIGHT side of the game cartridge while GENTLY lifting up the left side. You will hear the sound screw up and sound like computer beeps and mario will lay down and halfway sink into the ground with his face and body (with no legs....!0.-) facing up.

You can conrol mario this way and it controls like mario is on a skatboard. When you jump his legs start glitching all over the place and he looks like a fish out of water flopping about. I call it the "dead legless baby mario" lol

The catch is you can't go through a door or else it freezes. You can't get the wing cap where yoshi is or it freezes (but you can get in the cannon and launch out of it). You can't climb a tree (you can get on it but you cant move after that - the game doesn't freeze though).

Lastly when you swim you just skate around on the bottom. lol

Just make sure that when you reset the game push in the cartridge all the way befre reseting.

PS this can be done anywhere in the game but take note that you cant enter doors or get caps so EXPERIMENT!!!!!!

Plunder the ship: go over by the metal cap and get it then, go to where the eel is and go inside (he won't hurt you ) and you're in, Voila,

Slip, slidin' away, now go and wait two counts and turn right, then wait for a 5-coin line and go in there, there is about 3-UP, for you down there and you're in

Navigate through the toxic maze, go over by the toxic maze and go to the bat cave with the metal cap, than just go over by the heavy looking moss and jump up there

Red Hot log rolling: now, go over by the first giant eye and kill him, then go deep in and you will warp to the wing cap, get the wing cap and fly to the star, I've done this a million times (w/o a gameshark) and it is so much easier than it sounds

Pyrimid stars: go over by the bouncy box and grab it torwards the quick sand, than you will see a 1-UP, grab it and then go over by the pyrimid and get in, the top of the pyrimid star, just get the koopa shell and slide to the top

There is a way to get to Yoshi early, even at the start of the game. I have not done this yet, but I hear that it works.

What you have to do is go to the right side of the castle and do a double jusp on the hill slant. It may take awhile, but you can latch on the the edge of the castle and jump up. Eventually, after some more jumps, you will get to Yoshi and give him a nice surprise.

Correct: You need 120 stars to get to Yoshi.

When you`ve gotten all 120 stars, get the wing cap on the castle. Go to the cannon with it, and go to the layer just above where the wing cap is. Face the side of the tower that faces the front of the castle, and find the corner just to the right. Face it straight on, and jump at it. After a few tries, it should work. If done correctly, you will goinside of the tower, and fall through the wing cap layer. You will lose half of your health, but you will be in a void behind the door! If you go out the door, you will be in the void behind the inside door! To get out, be able to see the inside, and you can walk through any part of the around the door.

P.S. It`s fun to pretend that Mario`s a mime in the void!

Get the water level to the highest, and take Chuck-ya (press B) to the place where the water switch was. Go to the giant stairs and get on the middle one. Face away from the camera at an angle slanted to the left. Jump on the slope and hold the control stick like this: /. Release when in the cage, and swim to the arrows (cave to town). Then swim back and forth. Chuck-ya disappears, and then turns into something. Throw it. It'll either be fake, half-real, or real. If you get a star, BOOM. Remember that coins don't disappear. The bob-omb is similar. Grab its explosion to get a big bomb. Walk around to transform it into an item. You can get infinite coins this way, but 255 or something will be your highest total amount.

Let it take your hat and go to the pillar closest to the Pink Bob-omb. When the bird comes near, jump so it will drop your hat but DO NOT get the hat. Instead, go to the tree that warps you to a platform that has a cannon on the quicksand place. Go to the end (not where the cannon is) to warp back. If you get your hat, you will notice that there is another hat under it! If you grab that hat, you will have it in your hand as a weapon! The more times you warp, the more hats there will be.

WARNING!: Be alert that when there is 50 hats on the ground, the game will freeze.

After you meet Yoshi and collect 100 lives and your special attack, go to Icicle Mountian and select Big Penguin Race. Go down Santa's Chiminey. There, you will meet the Penguin you met earlier in the game, but he will be huge. He'll tell you that he's taken on some wait, but he'll challenge you. He is 2x faster than before. He won't give another star, but its nice to challenge an old racing buddy.

Once you have obtained several stars, you can unlock the door in the top right of the castle. In here there are three stained glass pictures of Princess Toadstool.

To enter the secret stage, jump into the third one from the left. This stage contains two stars to add to your collection, which you need to get all 120.

Secret Star #1
The stage is a ride down - to grab the star, all you need to do is get to the bottom in one piece! For extra points, hit the blue coin activator in the corner of the room and chase them on the way down.

Secret Star #2
Once you have collected the first star, re-enter the secret stage. This time you have to get to the bottom in 20 seconds. It may seem impossible, but it can be pulled off!

If you are having difficulty obtaining the second star, follow this sneaky guide;
  • Enter the stage as per normal
  • Ride down the start of the track
  • As the wall to your left starts to dissapear, veer to the left and jump off
  • Control your landing onto a later part of the course
  • Press Z as you are about to land so you don't fall off
  • Go to the end and receive your star bonus

Okay this cheat only works on tall tall mountain! I was just fiddling around and then I found out this cheat. Okay first you jump in to the tall tall mountain picture you can pick any star then you turn around when you enter and you will see a platform with a sign keep going straight after you see that only a little bit then you will see water. If you look up you can see where the monkey. When you go look at the brown wall you will see a pointy part sticking out if you do a long jump and you hit the pointy part you can go right through the wall. I found this trick kinda of neat because you can swim under the island. I made it once then I tried it again I mastered it pretty quick it just takes a couple tries.

This is very easy. Go to Tall Tall Mountain. Instead of taking the long way to the top of the mountain, there is a very easy shortcut that even my dog can pull off. When you start off in the level, there will be Goombas in front of you. Don't go that way. Go the other way until you see a narrowing ledge with a 1-up at the end of it. Go to the end of this ledge and grab the one up. Now jump off the ledge (no, seriously). There will be a large gust of wind that will lift you up and drop you at the top of the mountain, at least 1/2 way through the level!

Ok, to do this you have to get all 120 stars: First shoot yourself out of the cannon to the top of the castle, and grab the wing cap. Go back to the cannon, and shoot off high enough to the small roof around the main Tower. Now Gain speed, and run up the wall. You willfall right through the wall and land on a pitch black room behind the castle door, losing half of your health. Walk through the door and the game will think you are in the castle. But you will be behind the door in another pitch black room! With No escape! Or is it? Jump through the wall to escape.

To get 3 more stars to your collection, first open the downstairs keyhole. Run to the hazy maze cave level, but don't jump in. Go to the toad right by it and get the star.

Next, go upstairs. Go to your right, and you should find the toad with the star. That's two!

Next, go to the highest level possible, and there should be a toad there. Get the last star. Now you have 3/15 Secret Stars!

Go to the back, and face the tower.Face the little corner closest to the right. Go close to the edge of the layer, and run head-on into the corner. If you are on the side, don`t stop. Keep running straight up. You will eventually go to the very peak of the castle. You can go through the spire at the top!

1.When you first start, go left into the corner where the brown wall meets the grassy wall.

2.Now, enable the Fixed Cam camera mode, and start holding R. Walk around the corner, and try to walk toward the tunnel. This may be a little tricky, since you can't see Mario with the camera fixed where it is.
3.Let go of R for about one second, then start holding it again. The camera moves toward Mario until you start holding R again.
4.Now you should see Mario again. Wall-kick up to the grassy area (or you can just walk through the tunnel if you have already opened the small gate).
5.The camera will now be fixed under Mario, and it will look like he is walking on air!

This is another secret stage asides from the Coin Slide. It's very hard, however, and requires a lot of practice (not even I have beaten it).

First, go into the castle. In front of you there should be a dip in the floor where a sun marking is painted. Stand in the middle of it. Now, press Up on the C control pad, and now you can control Mario's head, making him look around (most of you should know how to do this). Now, look straight up at the sky. The screen should flash white and you will be transported to the Wing Cap Tower stage. Try to collect all of the red coins before time runs out! And don't worry--you can't lose lives by falling.
