Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Cheats & Tips

First you need to enter the level select cheat. Then, at the level select menu, play the songs in this order: 01, 09, 09, 02, 01, 01, 02, 04. If you successfully entered the cheat, you should here a sound(I don't know how to describe it, but you'll know when you hear it). Select a level. Hold A and press START to enter the level in debug mode.

The lives are at either end of the plane, the first one is after you go up the platforms that go from horizontal to vertical, after going up those, keep going left till you find a conveyor belt going up the tail of the plane, jump onto that, jump onto another one of those horizontal/vertical platforms and knock the life off the tail, as it is too high to jump on to itself, it should be at the bottom of the tail of the plane when you fall.

The second one is after you defeat the machine in the room with the spiked platforms, instead of jumping down the hole and following robotnik, jump across it and keep going right till you can't go further, then jump and press right and you've hit it, then go back and jump down the hole.

Or, if you use debug, go straight up as an object at the beginning of the level and slightly right and place yourself above the life and jump on it, and for the second one you can just skip defeating the machine to get it.

In the Chemical plant zone act 1, follow the path until you godown a huge pipe. You'll get shot up and the tube hole will turn into a spring. Grab onto the wall on the right and climb up it. At the top of the tower there will be a life. Fly to the left and there sould be another life. If you keep on flying, you'll reach another tower with another life. Then, jump off the left side and there will be an invincibility and rings.

To Become super sonic without the level select cheat beat every single bounus stage and get the chaos emerald from that stage and collect 50 rings and viola you are super sonic!

If you finish a stage in less then 1 Minute you will get a continue.

If you really want to defeat those frustrating special stages and become the all powerful super sonic, it's best to use sonic on his own instead of both sonic and tails because of tail's tendancy to take alot of rings and then get hit by a bomb causing you to lose valuable rings. It would be alot easier to do the special stages this way.

after you beat metal sonic and follow robotnik until he jumps into his machine, go and stand near the left wall. Robotnik will walk towards you and stop, and as he bends down to lift off, hit him above his arms. He will then lift off into the air and home in on you. While he is aiming on you, rev up your spin dash and once he has established his lock, release and roll to the far right of the screen. Wait there while he shoots his arms at you, they will not hit you if you stay at the wall, and when he lifts off, repeat the spin dash manuver. He will again walk towards you and stop, hit him again and repeat the entire process until you defeat him. You can additionally sneak a hit in right after he lifts his machine out from the ground, but make sure you hit him pretty near the apex of your jump, otherwise you'll hit his spike-hands and die.

Input the super sonic cheat and beat a level and make sure you have more than 50 rings then before the score menu come up jump and press the jump button before you land and you will be floating

Enter debug mode and go to Emerald Hill, Zone 2. Turn into a waterfall (it's almost invisible) and start placing objects like crazy. You will have made enough when the Sonic head icon turns green. Turn back into Sonic and jump out of the area. Green!

Chemical Plant Zone Act 2 - There's a hidden 1-up icon after the massive ramp at the start of the level. When Sonic flies upwards, turn left into a hidden area where you'll find it.

There are two parts to deathegg zone. The first one is the robot sonic. In order to damage him you have to hit him at an angle when he is just standing there. If you hit him directly on top, you will die. if you are really skilled you can hit when he shoots across the floor standing up. I would suggest trying to hit him twice when he is standing that way you won't have to guess what he is going to do next.
After you beat robot sonic you face doctor robotnic. I won't lie he is very hard and it takes 12 hits for him to die. When he first stands up be close to him. (Not to close) and move slowly away from him as he walks toward you. (don't try to hit him!) When he goes up in the air, you will see a circle form around you. As soon as this happens run to the middle of the screen, press down and super sonic spin. Keep doing that until you see a little red circle around that starts to blink really fast. Then make sonic spin to your left side of the screen. When he lands, his back should be facing you. Be as far away from him as possible. He will most likely shoot two sets of bombs out of his back. When he does this just stay where you are. He will shoot up in the air again. Repeat the step on super sonic spinning while he is in the air. When he lands the second time, his back should be facing toward you. He will only fire one set of bombs and then he will start walking forward. Fallow him but keep your distance. When he stops walking, jump up and hit his back. Be sure to keep away from his fire that comes out of his back at all cost. If you have time you can try to hit him again before he shoots up in the air again. If you are really good you can hit him while he is walking but i would not recommend it. When he shoots up in the air again repeat the sonic spin move but only go to the right of your screen. He should repeat the same steps as before. Here is the order you should super sonic spin at. Go left twice then right twice, then left twice then right twice... if you mess up the order and he lands facing toward you then I think he goes at random. If he ever faces toward when he lands he does one of two things he will either walk toward you or shoot his spikes at you. When he walks toward you just stay where you are. He will not harm you unless you are not at the far side of the screen. If he shoots his spikes at you just jump straight up and dodge each spike. Don't try to hit him. Remain patient when fighting him and don't get greedy on the number of hits.

Make sure that the debug code has not been entered. Go to Act 2 of Green Hill Zone and collect exactly 9 rings without getting hit. As soon as you collect the ninth ring, stand still for one minute, then reset the game. Then, enter the debug code and go to Special Stage. Hold C and B at the same time until you hit a bomb and then reset the game again. This time, when you start your game, your Sega Genesis will turn into a rocketship that will transport you to the moon!

Make sure the current character set is Sonic and Tails. Connect 1 more controller into the game system so that you now have 2 controller connected.

Now go to one player, and when you're playing have player 2 move the controller around. Notice how Tails reacts to player 2's commands?

To play as Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, put Sonic and Knuckles into your Genesis, then open the top flap of the Sonic and Knuckles cartridge and insert Sonic the Hedgehog 2 into the opening and start your Genesis. If done correctly, you will be able to play Sonic 2 with Knuckles.

First activate level select, debug mode, and the super sonic cheat (and make sure you have tails with you). Choose any level on debug. First become super sonic. Then go into debug mode and create a transfer box and hit it tails will be surrounded by stars.

Put in the night cheat and go to emerald hill zone when you start tails should be glowing

Here's an extention. Go back to the first tower, fly left, and you will finish the level

My brother found this trick out so it's him who deserves credit

On Oil Ocean (I can't remember which act) you walk left for a little bit and you will see those things where you stand on them and they put you through a machine and you go flying through ballon things. Well anyway head to the last one of the machines (Not the last one of the level the last one in the place you are) Stand on the bottom lid thing and get put into the machine hold right while doing it and you wil hit some spikes and bounce into a balloon which will spit you down still hold right adn land between the machine and the wall you will be inches above some spikes then jump left and for about 30 seconds you should be faster than supersonic

After entering the Level Select cheat, on the sound test in the level select screen listen to songs 04, 01, 02, 06 in that order. Now select any level you want. Once in the level once you collect 50 rings or more and jump Sonic will change into Super Sonic.

Go to the options menu and play the songs in the following order: 1, 1, 2, 4 (4 is the oil ocean song) press C button after each one. The oil ocean music should play the whole game. To deactivate it, turn the system off.

Press up, up, up, down, down, down, up at the title screen. Now Tails' name should be back to Miles. Do this again to change his name back to Tails.

Enter the debug code at level select and begin the level. Toggle through the items until you see a big glitchy box. Place one and it will set the animals free and complete the stage.
-note:to see the capsle clearly, go to the boss for the stage and place it in the area with the boss or the next room for multiple capsles.

First, in order to do these things you need to go to the options menu and enter the code for scene select (19, 65, 09, 17) Hold A button at the title screen and ptress start when sonic and tails appear. Now once your at level select, go to the sound test again and enter the debug mode code (01, 09, 09, 02, 01, 01, 02, 04) and the super sonic code(04, 01, 02, 06) and go to death egg zone and hold A button and press START. Now your ready for these:

-Final Boss and Metal sonic in same room
Go to the room with Metal sonic and become a ring or a box, go past the door and chase robotnic without beating metal sonic. Now chase him into his huge robotnic robot and use debug mode to go back to the room with metal sonic. When he targets you, the target will follow you into that room. When he lands, metal sonic and the final boss will be in the same room.

-Fire sonic
Use the debug code to place 50 rings in front of you and jump to become supersonic. Beat metal sonic and go to the final boss. Beat him and when you get chased by the fire press B button to use debug. Press it again to become sonic again and the fire will follow you where ever you go.

-Multiple final bosses
Dont beat metal sonic and go to the final boss. Then go back and chase robotnic again. He will jump in but not rise up. Beat the first Final boss with super sonic and get fire sonic again. Now go back into the boss room. There should be 1 or 2 extra bosses, and the final boss music will play again.

First you need a Game Genie. Then connect the Sonic 2 cartridge on top of the Game Genie. Then type in ACLA-ATD4 and activate the Level Select and Debug cheats. After that select Death Egg Zone by holding A and pressing start and it should take you to Hidden Palace Zone.

It's all glitchy though. Use the Debug Mode to get past it.

To get to the level select mode when connected to the Sonic and Knuckles cartridge, at the title screen, press Up, Up, Up, Down, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right then hold A and press Start to be taken to the level select menu.

To access Level Select without being connected to Sonic and Knuckles, go to the Options menu from the title screen, then go down to Sound Select and play the following sounds in this order (play each only once) - 19, 65, 09, 17. Then press the C button and Start to go back to the title screen. As soon as you see Sonic and Tails appear on the screen, hold down A and press Start to finish off the code. If done correctly, you will be brought to the Level Select menu.

Go to the options menu and play the sound test in the following order: 1,9,9,2,1,1,2,4 (4 is the oil ocean song)
Then press A and start. The oil ocean music should still be playing.

Hold C while chosing a level in level select until the level starts and let go it should be darker than usual

How would you like to get the emeralds without the debug cheat, but don't want to risk going through the game because of annoying enemies? Then this is the trick for you. (This is not simply blatant advertising) When you have enough chaos emeralds or lost too many times, push reset on your Genesis( configure game options for Sonic only and push A) and go to the options menu. Push A on the character select option and when you reach a special stage, and you'll notice you're on the special stage you left on. Don't go through the option at the main menu that says one player, or you'll start over in terms of special stages.
