Tips

another way to train if you have too much time on your hands

chapter 2. trade lyn's sword to kent or sain, then situate yourself in one of the forts. now, using the rng, make sure that each turn the enemy brigands are unlikely to hit you (the tail should come out horizontally for each of the random numbers that determines whether the enemy hits). lyn will still be hit but she'll be healed enough by the fortress so that it won't matter.

every turn, she'll gain a few experience points. it's a sloow way to gain experience, but i was able to get lyn and kent to level 20, and sain to level 12 or so, just by this trick. then for the rest of the tutorial you can focus on training chars that are actually good, like florina and serra. but i'm sure you can figure that out on your own.

Arena Experience

There is a better way to get experience through the arena that allows you to train two people per turn. You must place Ninian or Nils directly beneath the Arena. Once you have fought in the arena, use the bard/dancer to allow the unit to move once more. You can either fight once more, or just move the unit out of the way to be healed, and to allow another unit to enter the arena. This is much better than simply placing a healer next to the arena and only being able to fight once in a turn. This way, everyone gets valuable experience too, including Nils/Ninian. You can also get quite a bit of money from the arena at the same time.
Note: When the man asks you to wager, generally, the lower the wager, the easier the fight will be. This doesn't really make a difference in exp, but it save you the trouble of getting nailed after a bunch of turns. I've personally had to reset on turn 130 or so, and trust me, it wasn't fun.

Arena Trick: Preview your Enemy

This trick allows you to see what enemy your character wil be facing without having to face your opponent. This will prevent you from losing your bet and ensuring you fight an easy opponent.

After you have accepted the fight it will show you your opponent (level, class and weapon). Now just soft reset(or just turn off your GBA) if the oponent is too powerful since while the game normaly saves every second in FE it won't save until the fight starts. So you can resume the chapter and you will be right before you accepted the match.
Remember that it will the same opponent as last time so enter the Arena and say No and it should be a different foe.

Arena Weapon

The weapon that it is used at the the arena is automatically chosen depending on which one has the hightest level of mastery, which means that the weapon with the hightest level is the one used to combat in the arena. I found out this when I got Geitz in level 23: Four-Fanged Ofense, version B, and when I put him battle in the arena. Instead of using the axe he used the bow. Then I went to check his weapon mastery and I had found out that he had more ability with the bow that the axe.

Avoiding Characters

There are those that are complete experience hogs, and they should not be used except in the Arena. Among the foremost of these is the esteemed Marcus, who seems invincible in the early levels. Unfortunately, he gains very little experience for each person he defeats, and you are much better off using a lord or someone in need of a few levels. On occasion, you could use him for transport (to get Eliwwod to someone you need to recruit for example). There are others who also hog experience, avoid them, but it is up to your discretion.

Characters you should focus on

Kent: He's just great all around and is mounted so can travel far. Once you can finally get a knights crest in Eliwood's tale, give it to him if he's at level 20. Now he'll be able to use axes, basically making him able to fight any unit.
Serra & Priscella: Both are healers, that's about all you need to think about. Just have them in every fight your in, and you'll be able to keep people alive easy. Make sure to group them with the right parts of your party, for example, don't make Serra go and attempt to heal your mounted units when they're way ahead of her.
Erk: It seems that the anima magic he uses is more effective against non-magic units than the light magic Lucius uses and the dark magic Canas uses. Sure you could just wait to have Pent, but if you give one of the guiding rings you get in the game to him, you'll have two sages.

Cheap Experience

If you need to level up a character, you can use the Mine Cheat to control your opponet, move them toward your units, and discard all their weapons, thus making them defenseless. Although this is cheap, it is very useful.
Verified by: marioismael02, ExcellionLocki Submitted by: FireEmblemFanatic on May 15, 2007

Control Enemys

To control enemies, all you need to do is lay a mine in front of you, if an enemy steps on it, while its blowing up, shut your system off, and when you turn it on you will have control of the enemies for a turn to discard their weapons, rescue the other enemies to decrease their stats, or to put them in your attacking range.

Defeat Dragon in One Shot

Save the two speedwings you get for athos.Use them on him before the last level. Equip him with luna and it will do 30 damage twice on the dragon. It also has a 16 percent critical rate. Then use nills to dance to increace his critical rate which will go from 16 to 26. If athos does just one critical the second attack will kill the dragon.
If he doesn't do critical then hector cangive him 36 damage with armads from right side and lyn can give 12 or 24 with sol katti, depends if she gets a critical.
Then eliwood can finish him with durandal.

This is 100 percent right if your 3 lords are upgraded 20.

defeat fire dragon

in the final chapter you get Athos the Archsage. In chapter 19 (I think) you get a Luna in one of the chests in the top part of the map. give the Luna to Athos and four elixirs (the dragon has a range of three spaces so don't put a person that can heal Athos because he will prabaly get attacked by the dragon. Equip Athos with Luna BUT DON'T ATTACK to do 30 damage to the dragon. the dragon will do 37 damage to Athos so give him some elixirs. Athos have a max HP of 40 unless you gave him an angleic robe. Athos equiped with Luna has a damage of 30, hit of 100, and critial of 13 on the draogn. If you want to make the battle quicker have Canas(Chapter 16x) use Eclipse on the dragon. the only problem is that Eclipse has a hit of 28 on the dragon.

Defeat Fire Dragon Easy

To defeat the final boss, the Fire Dragon, easily, move Athos 2 spaces away from it. End your turn. The Fire Dragon will attack leaving you with 2-10 HP left. You will deal 20 dmg to the dragon. Use elixer and repeat.

Defeat Fire Dragon...Even Easier than the Athos Method

Usually, people use the Athos + Aureola + Elixir way to kill the Fire Dragon. However, there's an even easier way:

Get your Canas equipped with Luna and is at level 20/20, maxed out with the Magic stat.

Then, have him stand two spaces away from the Fire Dragon. Then, have someone he has A support with stand three spaces away from, and have someone he has B support with him also stand three spaces away (make sure both support people are out of the Dragon's range)

Then end your turn. When the Dragon attacks, Canas can counter attack twice with 100% hit and a really high chance of critical, dealing 41 normal damage, and 123 critical damage. Canas can attack twice, and usually, you can kill the Dragon in one turn.

Easy Theif Training

On any chapter where a thief spawns as reinforcements (alone or with other thieves, but not with powerful units) have your thief stay next to the spawn point with a precious item (Angelic Robe, Power Ring, Dragonsheild, etc.). The thief should steal it from you on his available turn. When it is your turn, steal it back. You will gain 10-20 EXP every time!

P.S this is easy to do on Whereabouts Unknown on hectors mode as their is only one exit from the room that they appear in.

PP.S Legault is a preferred option to do this with as he is of a higher level and therefore takes less time and is less boring.

Experience Easy on levels without using arenas

Throughout the game there are certain chapters at which reinforcements do not stop. This means that any units that can handle them can kill them and kill them again and again and again, while units that are a bit weaker can war it out on the arenas. A brilliant example is Chapter 21/22: New Resolve (the one where you kill Oleg and get loads of weapons after the dragon gate level). It has bot an arena and constant reinforcements.

P.S. Plz PM any other levels where this occurs. I know there is at least one but I forgot which one it is.

Fight a boss forever

In the early levels, where a tank knight or general sits on a castle, there is an unlimited potential for experience. Just take a unit that can survive a hit from the boss and just let him sit, dont attack, just be attacked. make sure your healer is right behind them so you can full heal every turn.

LET HIS WEAPON BREAK

then any unit that can do damage can fight him as long as you keep the boss's health above the amount of damage a crit from the attacking unit. Then when the boss's health gets below what a crit would be from the attacking unit,

LET HIM HEAL 2-3 POINTS EVERY TURN

so really he would be a weaponless self healing dummy that you just have to be patient with. 16 levels an hour and i spent 2 1/2 hours. but you can just fight and rest fight and rest fight and rest for unlimited amount of turn.

before you do this, give bartre the energy ring at the begining instead of dorcas, and give dorcas the dragonsheild, give lowen a steel sword and steel lance instead of marcus.

to get easy lv. ups for kent sain and lowen, step 1- kill a horsemen with kent, then kill a horsemen with lowen, and then kill a horsemen with sain and then kill a brigand with kent ,then ,sain then lowen.step 2-use a vulnerary on them all, and then go on to the next step.step 3-go and kill any other type of enemy with kent, and theres his lv. up,
step 4- kill an enemy with the iron sword for sain (preferably a brigand or axefighter)and theres his lv. up.

final step-kill and enemy with the steel sword for lowen, and then your 3 lv. ups will be done.

extra step- after the final step, weaken a boss(prferrably a general or knight)with marcus if u gave him a javelin, and if the boss is under 10 hp,then attack it with either lowen kent or sain to get realy good exp.Keep doing this to get 1 lv.up per battle untill 8 battles.

Good Link Arena Combos

Focus on leveling up your 3 lords and making them level 20. Give them good weapons. Try and make Eliwood an S in Lance instead of sword because I bet Lyn you would have in S in Sword. If you're trying to link with someone, save all you idems till you beat the game (Energy Ring, Angelic Robe, Secret book, etc.) Give them at the end. Then you can repeat the idems if you make another team. Then make 2 other people with an A Support that are good. Then you might have the perfect team. ALWAYS CLASS UP YOUR CARACTERS ON LEVEL 20. Good unit, really early.

For this to work, you must go through Lyn's Hard Mode. Once you get Kent and Sain, pick one of them. Now, only use the cavalier you chose, and no-one else, whatsoever. Not even Lyn. Now, by the time you get to Chapter 9, Kent/Sain should be at Level 20. If they are, promote them. If not, keep the Knight's Crest until they do.

If they aren't at Level 20 by Chapter 10, do not promote them, but give them the Knights Crest to hold. Instead, give Lyn any Javelins you may have. Go through the level, still only using the Cavalier you chose. Make sure to kill everything except Lundgren.

Now, this is when those Javelins come in handy. Give the Cavalier as many Javelins as he can hold, equip one, and stay one space away from Lundgren, but keep Lyn three spaces away. Then keep ending your turns.

Lundgren will try and kill your Cavalier with a Javelin, but it's rather weak. Just keep ending the turn, but make sure to move the Cavalier to the nearby Fort if the next attack would kill him.

As soon as the Cavalier hits Level 20, promote him. Then kill Lundgren.

Congrats, you've got a 20/1 Paladin ready to use as of Chapter 15. Lyn will be exceptionally weak though, so make sure to protect her.

Harken vs. Karel

On the snow titled "Pale Flower of Darkness" you will be pitted on one of two maps. Version A will face you versus Kenneth and various pesky magicians. If you want Karel and his wonderful sword the "Wo Dao" then you must kill off the Sage, Bishop, and Druid within 7 turns. If you want Harken leave at least one alone until he appears.

In Version B you will face Jerme. If you want Karel , and again the "Wo Dao" you must unlock four of the doors on the map (So take your keys and picks) If not unlock 3 or less and wait for Harken to show up

Each of these characters is very good however I recommend Karel, a swordmaster over Harken, a hero. However it's up too you

Karel will join you if talked to by Eliwood or Hector (depending on whose quest it is) and Lyndis

Harken can be recruited by talking to him with Eliwood, Marcus, Lowen, Isadora, Oswin, or Hector.

Infinite level up

In Ch. 16x, you can raise everybody in the chapter to level 20 easily. In order for this to work, you have to take Priscilla and/or Serra to this level. Defeat all enemies except Dart and Fargus. Then, go to the arena and keep fighting. Make sure to use the Arena Preview cheat before battling. Continue to fight in the arena until your level 20. Have Priscilla or Serra heal the person in the arena evey turn. That will give Priscilla or Serra experience also. If you run out of staffs to heal with, you can buy more in the vendor near the upper-left corner. After you leave the level, everyone should be level 20.

Level up control

I found a way to, more or less, have control over what atributes get upgraded during the game, but its still pretty random.

First thing all you have to do is have a charcter get a level up.

Then see what gets uped and if you dont like it quickley before the screen goes back to the field shut the game off.
You can also restart the chapter if you werent quick enough.

Sometimes youll get the same thing a few times in row but if you keep trying your characters level up should change if you do this correctly.

Remember the what gets uped is mostly at random so dont think you have complete control.

Level Up Nils and Serra

This is a helpful cheat but it takes a while. When you get to the side quest for chapter 7, accept it and beat all of the enemys except for the leader. He won't move unless attacke. Position Nils next to any character (I would suggest Lyn because the cursor automaticly goes to her) and have that character wait. Then have Nils play for them. End the turn and repeat.

This allows Nils to gain experience and boost his health.

Now for Serra it's just as easy. Everytime Nils levels up and his health increases, have her heal him - I know it seems like a waste of a heal, but she gains experience so she can heal more damage.

Level Up Quick and Strong Characters

It may take a while, but it can level up your people very strong. I thought of this myself. Check the map before every fight. Look for an arena. Pick people that you want to get strong and fight. If it's a fight where you have to defeat a boss or seize a gate thats good. Keep on fighting in the arena and when your people need rest put them on a fort. Nils can also level up, put him next to the arena, so every turn, he'll play and get experience points. Trust me this is a great way to make your army strong. Also, DO NOT change any of your classes until you get them to level 20. that's the smart thing to do, because they will become even more powerful.

Lundgren Abuse

When on the final chapter of Lyn's story, the final boss will be Lundgren, a general. First, have Wallace (who shouldn't be promoted if you are doing hard mode) get attacked and damaged for 3 points. Have Serra continually heal him so she can gain experience. Do this until he breaks his Javelin. Next, make sure that Wallace doesn't have any items equipped and move him in range for the silver lance. Wait and heal until the lance breaks and Lundgren has no weapons. Now, have all your units take turns attacking, getting EXP without killing him. Save Lyndis for last since she has a good chance of criticaling and killing him. Using this technique, I got Sain to a level 1 paladin, Kent to a level 18 cavalier, Serra to a level 13 healer, and Nils to a level 18 bard.

To get some easy experience on lyn's quest and therefore, the rest of the game, go to the last chapter on lyn's quest. Kill everybody except lundgren. Take all of Wallaces weapons and give them to another character then send him to attack lundgren only he cant because he has no weapons. all you do is use wallace to take all the hits until lundgren's weapons all break. then you can send up all of your weak characters and attack. When he gets to low health stop attacking and he will heal because of the gate he is on. Then continue attacking. I got all of my characters to level 20 including the weakest in the game, florina.

Super Omega Traing

When your on any level where there is an arena (make sure that there is a healer) then take everybody down (this is easly done on chapter 23) then train them in the arena; remember to take them out if they get into trouble. Use the healer to recover all HP even if its only 1 hp damage.

I have gotten my whole team (incleding the lords) to level 20 and upgraded them and got them to 20 as well If you have troulbel doing this then train the person you trying to train by fighting real battles.

Support Tip for Support Conversations (in extras)

When you support, you have to do it in three chapters for each level [C,B,and A]. Every character has at least three other supporters. In one game, each character has five points to spend on support conversations, which can drag the game quite a bit. But if you reach level A of someone, then just start the chapter all over again and start a new conversation with someone else.

Make sure you don't talk to that person again, or you have to start all over again. e.g. say Eliwood gets B support level with Hector on ch.18. On ch.19, Eliwood talks to Hector to get level A. Then restart the chapter and have Eliwood start to talk to someone[Lyn,Marcus,ect.]. That's it!

This saves a lot of time if your trying to get through the support quickly.

The Silver Card

In Chapter 18x in Eliwood's story and Chapter 19x in Hector's story, The Boss has a silver card. Use a thief to steal the silver card from him. This allows you to buy any idem in a shop or armory with the silver card at haft price. This is useful in secret shops.

Note: You must have both member and silver cards to buy idems at haft price in secret shops.

Note2: This is only in hard mode

Various Hints

1: If you find a level where you must seize a throne or a gate, usually it will have a boss on it. Well, to defend the gate or throne, that boss will not move. So just stand back and nuke them with magic or arrows.

2: In the area where you fight the guy with the Tomahawk (I think it's called Valorous Roland- Eliwood's story), Stand in front of a lava jet or whatever. Since enemies will rush at you almost always, you can use this tactic to force them into the fire. This also works with mines (tested) and poison jets (untested).

3: If you use the mine trick (turn off the game when the enemy steps on a mine; control your enemies) you want to do the most damage possible. Instead of just moving them away, trade or trash their weapons! If you trade all of their weapons so swordsmen have lances, mages have dark magic, etc., then they will rush at you, but they will be defenseless! Just pick them off at your leisure. Sometimes you even get the weapons when you kill them. I did this in Four-Faged Offence 1, and since I had a guide, I could even do this with enemies hidden by fog. You can also make them rescue each other. The big problem? Reinforcements.

Weapon tricks

If you need to attack a unit with a certain weapon and then have another one equipped afterward (example: with a warrior you need to kill a lance user and then equip a bow or something to use against an enemy archer on their turn.) Use a paladin, or wvern lord to get behind them and trade equipment with them until the desired equipment is first on the list. Then use the remaining movement squares to get out of range.
Another less likely way to do this is to put the bow at the top of the list by examining an attack against an enemy unit with the bow, and then use an axe with one or two vitality left ( I save them for situations like this.) effectively breaking the axe and equipping the bow.

If you have a sword that only has one vitality left and an identical sword with full vitality and a swordsman with the chance to attack twice, you can equip the full weapon and then attack with the one that is about to break. Your first attack will "break" the sword removing it from your inventory and auto equipping the full vitality one. At that point the game will register that you are still using the same weapon type and will initiate the second attack. (Note: this does not work with different weapons IE iron sword and steel sword, the weapons must be identical.)

Also Guy is the coolest unit in the game.

Arena Trick: Preview your Enemy

The Arena isn't always very fair and sometimes puts your character up against impossible odds. The enemy might even kill you before you can yeild.

Well in order to prevent your character from facing impossible odds (after accepting the match):
1) You will see the enemy preview of Level, Class and weapon. If the enemy is too tough for your character to handle just turn off your GBA (or soft reset).
2)FE has a weird save system that usually prevents you from doing this trick but the FE save system only saves at the start of the Arena battle. Now just go into the Arena and say NO (it will be the same enemy as last time).
3) Enter the Arena again and it should be a different opponent (though sometimes it will be very similar). You can repeat this trick until you find an easy opponent.

Better way of leveling up

This is sort of complicated. First chose a mission pick a mission where you have to seize a gate or throne. Beat eveeryone except the boss(make sure he/she has really high defensive+resistance) then have your long range players attack then let nils play for them and they will attack again. when the boss get too weak leave him alone for he'll restore HP thanks to the "gates, throne, and castle. I got everyone to level 20 in Lyn's story.
P.S. I'm not lying.

Destroy the Fire Dragon

At the final chapter, the second part, there is a fire dragon you must kill. His HP appears as ???, but it is actually 120. Only a few weapons can hurt the dragon, and there is only one surefire way to win. Give Athos a bunch of elixers, at least four, eguipt Aureola, and put him in front of the dragon. DO NOT ATTACK! On the enemy phase, the dragon will attack Athos, bringing his HP down to 3. Athos will chip off 20 HP. On your phase, have Athos use an elixer. Continue in this pattern until the dragon has 20 HP and it is your phase. Then, just attack with Athos to finish the battle. If you want to shorten the battle, give Athos Eclipse and have him attack the dragon. If the magic hits, the dragon's HP will be halfed, bringing it down to 60. Kill it from there. Note : this stratagy assumes that Athos isn't upgraded by a secret book, energy ring, speedwings, angelic robe, etc. Also, Athos must have full HP the first time he attacks the dragon. It's hit rate is usually 100 unless you have given all luck upgrades to Guy.

Easy lelveling up for Serra and Nils

On Chapter 7 when u get nils... defeat all the enemies except for the boss... then put florina 2 squares from the boss where she can't counterattack... every turn the boss attacks florina... heal her with serra then let nils play for serra...

ps. the boss' weapons will break after 35 hits... so u could only level up serra for maybe 4-5 lvls. Nils you can continue to level up by moving someone, then playing for the unit.

Get a light brand in the desert

In chapter 22: Living Legend, go up to the top left corner, and have legault move around near the bones, and you'll get a light brand very early.

Get Poison Weapons!!!!!!!!!

First find an enemy unit with a poison weapon you want, then find another enemy unit with an obtainable item nearby. Use a mine on an enemy that moves before one of those units, while it is exploding, reset your game and resume chapter. Then you will be able to move the enemy units for a turn. Make the enemy trade the poison weapon (other items work too) for the obtainable item and end turn. When possible kill the enemy holding the poison weapon and you will get it.

ps. poison weapons are fully-functional except when use in 'link arena', in 'link arena' enemys are poisoned but the poison does nothing

pps. you can also use this to get the rune sword in the last level

ppps. while moving enemy, never press 'r' it freezes the game

pppps. just for kicks you can make the enemy lose in the arenas, but it costs YOUR money

ppppps. if you make an enemy visit a village, it will say "a ... was pilfered" and that item becomes obtainable, you can use this if there is no enemys with obtainable items around

pppppps. sorry for all the post scripts

Get Vaida's Super Spear

In Chapter 24 (Unfulfilled Heart), do not kill the myrmidon near the bottom of the screen. Wait until turn 8 or 9, when both groups of Wyvern Riders have appeared. Use the mine trick (described here numerous times) on the myrmidon to gain control of the enemies. Simply pass Vaida's Spear from enemy to enemy until it reaches Merlinus. Have the last Wyvern Rider give the Spear to Merlinus. It will still carry the empowering effects of Nergal's Magic, making it one hell of a weapon.

Get Vaida's Uber Spear!

While in the Chapter 24: Unfulfilled Heart, use a mine, and trade the shaman located in the top left area's luna, with Vaida's spear. Then after you defeat the shaman, you receive the Uber Spear.

Mine Glitch

First place a mine where you know an enemy will move. End the turn. As soon as the unit steps on the mine, turn the power off & on. You will be able to control the enemy for 1 turn. You can do anything that you can do as your team.

mine glitch trick

an easy way to beat any lvl is use the mine glitch (if you dont know what that is its where you drop a mine and when your opponent steps on it reset and you control the rest of your opponents units) and then make you enemies discard all their weapons

Mine Hunting

Note: For a little background information, if you use a mine and an enemy steps on it, turn off the game (or press A+B+Select+Start, then release B) right when the enemy's health meter appears. Turn the game back on, and you can control the red units, but not the green or blue ones, for one turn. Usually, you should have most of the enemies discard their weapons, but you should only use the mine to get rare items from bosses, etc.

You can find mines in the following places:

Chapter 13(13): Get it from the village on the right. If you notice, Hanna the fortune teller is the one who gives it to you.

Chapter 16(17): If you let only one of the three guards live by rescuing him, the others will be killed. He will give Lyn a mine at the end of the chapter. You will also unlock Chapter 16x(17x).

Chapter 26x(28x): In the middle of the map, there is a pirate standing on water. I'm not sure about Eliwood's story, but he has a mine in Hector's story. It must be stolen by a thief. Too bad.

Chapter 27(29): Near the village in the bottom-left hand corner, there is a hero surrounded by mercenaries and myrmidons. He has a mine, but it once again must be stolen. He will head east to the bridge surrounded by knights.

If I missed any, too bad. No one is perfect.

more exp.

here's a hint on how to get exp. fast. have Serra or Priscilla ready for action but away from battle. ( or a lot of vulnarys ) Defeat all the enemies in all the levels and when you have low health go to Serra, Priscilla, or use a vulnarey. my people got a lot better. its hard work and can get boring but its worth it. in the end of the game Lyn killed enemies, even some bosses in one shot.this cheat is also useful for Serra and Priscilla and if you can also find ways to get Nils and Ninian exp. too. also, if an enemy is on a throne, attack them then wait for them to heal, then attack again and so on.

Unlocking Characters

Lyn's Story:

Wil: Ch. 3: Visit the house in the south.

Dorcas: Ch. 4: Have Lyn speak to him.

Matthew: Ch. 6: Visit the northern red-roofed
house.

Eliwood's (Hector's) Story:
Note: Non-parenteses= Eliwood's Story and parentheses= Hector's Story) Oh, and this can get confusing after a while, so try to keep up.

Dorcas and Bartre: Ch. 11: Appear in the upper-
right hand corner on the 2nd turn.

Hector and Oswin: Ch. 12Hector you start with, Oswin you get in this chapter) Appear in the upper-left hand corner on turn 4.

Guy: Ch. 13: Have Matthew speak to Guy.

Merlinus: Ch. 13x: In Ch. 13, visit the village in the upper-left hand corner to unlock Ch. 13x. Complete that chapter to get Merlinus. You also get him in Ch. 16 if you don't already have him.

Erk: Ch. 14: Have Serra speak to Erk to recruit him. Erk can also be recruited by Priscilla.

Priscilla: Ch. 14: Visit the south village to recruit your second staff user.

Raven and Lucius: Ch. 16(17): Have Priscilla speak to Raven to recruit him, then have him speak to Lucius in the jail cell.

Canas: Ch. 16x(17x): Visit the red-roofed house farthest to the right. And you can really use him to kick butt in the upcoming battles.

Dart: Ch. 18(19): Automatic if he wasn't killed in Ch. 16x.

Fiora: Ch. 18(19): Have Florina speak to her to get another Pegasus rider, but be wary of the many bowmen.

Legault: Ch. 19(20): Have Lyn or Eliwood speak to him to get a new thief.

Heath and Rath: Ch. 21(22): Any of the lords can speak to Heath, but only Lyn can speak to Rath, who appears on turn 2 with two helpers. They are both great additions to your already large team.

Hawkeye: Ch. 22(23): Have the main lord speak to Hawkeye. He is one of the best unis in the game.

Note: You can only play one version of Four-Fanged Offense, Ch. 23(24). Your Lord's levels must total 50 or more to play version II, so if you play that version you're a lucky fool and I envy you.

Wallace: Ch. 23(24) I: Have Lyn, Kent, Sain, Wil, or Florina talk to him. Get there before he decimates the nearby sniper, as it has an Orion's Bolt for no particular reason.

Geitz: Ch. 23(24) II: Have Dart speak to Geitz to get him, but beware his KILLER AXE!!

(Farina: Ch. 25: She will appear by Merlinus's tent on turn 5. She will join for a fee- 20,000 Gold!)

Note: You only play one version of Pale Flower of Darkness, Ch. 25(27). If your Troubador, Mage, Cleric, and Monk levels are higher than your Mercenary, Fighter, and Myrmidon levels, you'll play version I. If it is the other way around, version two is what you'll play. Version two is harder but offers more treasure.

Harken/ Karel: Ch. 25(27) I or II: Vrsn. I: If you kill 2 or more upper-class foes by turn 10, Harken(Karel) will appear. If 1 or 0 are dead by turn 10, Karel(Harken) will appear. Anyone from Pherae castle, and I mean Lowen, Isadora, Eliwood, etc. can speak to Harken, plus Hector, and any of the lords can speak to Karel. Vrsn. II: If 4 or more doors are open by turn 9, Karel(Harken) will appear. If less than 4 are opened by turn 9, Harken (Karel) will pay you a visit. You can controll who will appear in this version because none of the enemies will open doors. I would suggest Harken over Karel because he can use axes as well as swords. He also is a bit stronger. Harken can also be recruited by Oswin.

Nino and Jaffar- Yes, Jaffar, the Angel of Death: Ch. 26(28): Have a Lord speak to Nino, then have her speak to Jaffar. He will join at the start of the next chapter and enable you to try Ch. 26x (28x). But believe me, I accepted that sidequest and now I wish I hadn't. I still am stuck on it.

Vaida: Ch. 27(29): Have the main Lord talk to her to recruit her. She appears where your team starts out when you pass the 6 fortresses surrounding the temple. She only appears, however, if she wasn't defeated in Ch. 24().

(Karla: Ch. 31x: Send Bartre to the arena and have him fight Karla. If he survives the attack, she will join.)

Renalt: Ch. 30 (32): Visit the ruins in the top-left hand corner. You may recognize him from Ch. 18x(), where he gave you a Godess Icon if you visited his ruins.

I'm sorry if this information is not 100% correct. No one is perfect.
